This gym video is legendary, with so much going on in the background: the GB paraclimbing team (TIL! Didn't know about these guys, saw in the comments), the one-armed climber, that climber destroying the route in the background with a single leg, & that girl in a wheelchair (with a climbing outfit on, ready to campus!), multiple national climbing teams, Germany's Alex Megos, USA, Japan (two of whom finished 1st and 2nd against HEAVY competition in the IFSC 2019 Bouldering World Cups, Tomoa Narasaki & Akiyo Noguchi - congrats, both of you!), Jim Pope just casually working out, that speed climber just running up the wall. Props to you guys, Matt & the EpicTV crew for grabbing all of these amazing shots.

Very glad to visit that place 4 times a week! :) Everything is truly awesome there. One thing that does bother me though is the time it takes for new routes to be set. I'm in there bouldering very very often and it seems like it takes 1 month for a small section of wall to be replaced with new routes. I'd like that do be more frequent as I know literally all of the boulders all the time.

@@nofurtherwest3474 definitely not! The great thing about climbing is the climbing centres have all of the gear already, you just need to bring yourself and your sneakers. If you start to get more involved then you'll often end up buying a pair of climbing shoes but most centres will offer a memberships or a small entrance fee and the ability to borrow climbing shoes. It's cheaper than a gym in my area. If you want to get into it, research the climbing gyms near you and go and talk to some of the guys that work/run it. Super fun :)

David Climbing is a pretty accessible sport as long as you’ve got the ability to have body strength. Only problems I know of are: Stairs and no lift, which I don’t imagine is a problem here because 1) appears to be ground level 2) it’s the para team in the background so they probably have decent prosthetics. (Although even then shit happens, stuck in a wheelchair for a bit, prosthetic needs resized/repaired/replaced injures etc) Harnesses. Here I’m assuming the harnesses fit them, but depending on where you’ve lost your leg some harnesses don’t fit/aren’t safe (supposedly).

One really awesome thing are the Toppas (self-belay devices) they have on some walls. You can climb at least a few long walls without someone to belay you. For most climbers, this is probably irrelevant, but for beginners who haven't found a climbing buddy yet (like me), this is super awesome. The lack of structure walls (with a shape that mimics rock) is a bit disappointing though.

At 5:05 he's telling how someone fell with no injuries, while there is a man without a right arm passing behind. Not gonnal lie, gave me a good chuckle.

I would love to see the financials of this place. If he put in roughly 20 million even if just 20K of his 170K user are full time members that’s still (using average gym costs) 8 million dollars in memberships and assuming its 20$ for the day that’s another 3 million for the remaining users. Running in the green zone of profit in 2 ish years that’s insane. My guy is living the dream.

Even if every visitor payd the full price, its just 2.3 million euros for the tickets. They must have a huuuuge support from sponsors. Worth every penny :D

Could they make a winter training center?, easy, leave tap open at the top floor and let it flow against the outern wall. Frozen ice wall, 1st in the world.

Given what climbing blocks cost, it would be interesting to know which cost more, them or the building! :-)
