FGC in general can be pretty toxic. I've competed in a few locals and some online tournaments in Tekken and while people are generally supportive - you'll get the few that say some egregiously horrible things to you. One dude in the States, can't remember who but he got arrested for getting rejected by one of the girls that were competing - he threatened to rape her and shoot up the event that she attended. Was dumb enough to post his unhinged rant on YT before it got taken down lol

It probably helps that the game is less about clawing each other down and is more just a single player game made competetive, where everyone is just aiming for excellence and the only way to beat someone is to step up your own game.

Good lord it's only been two years since rolling was a nascent concept and the killscreen was just beginning to become an actual playable part of competition matches and now they've already busted it so wide open that they had to make another harder killscreen. This is some wild rate of development

Right? I remember watching the video where when they first discovered rolling and were wondering "is this the future?, will this overtake hyper tapping"? People were doing statistics on tapping abilities and then rolling came. Absolutely transformed the game, but despite new generation coming in, I feel like tetris is one the few communities where OGs are still given a lot of respect because it's understood it was a different time, different place and different skills/knowledge

Congrats to these two (and your narration) for making Tetris feel like an anime. Child prodigy going through a massive tournament, fighting against a mysterious but legendary foe at the finale, and it coming down to the last second, both combatants breaking the previously held record in the process, and the child prodigy winning by the skin of his teeth. Can’t wait for Alex to have to defeat God in Tetris a few years from now.

Dude, I've never watched a tetris game in my entire life and you commentated this epic match brilliantly, explained each bit perfectly at every point and made me fully hooked on a game I'd not played since about 2005. GG to Alex and Tommy and an impressive video. Thank you

I have followed your footsteps on this.
I noticed that Alex was doing the same thing Cheez does when it comes to the killscreen. Instead of having the traditional right well, they opted to just go with whichever column happened to have the empty well at the time. Not sure why but it seems like the optimal way to play at 29 speeds. Probably because instead of sticking to a structured playstyle - the 29 speed is probably too fast to stick to a structure so it's better to just take what the game gives you and what the board ends up with. It's a more reactionary playstyle - which again considering the speed, it's probably better to just "react" instead of trying to "think" about what's happening which can slow you down. I could be wrong though but I've seen Tetrises hit more consistently when done this way.
The flip at the end where you said there was STILL another legendary match going to happen after round 4 was great, and you really hyped it up even more! I'm always impressed at how great people can get at this game
Wow. I’ve been getting into Tetris with your and other’s videos and I cannot tell you how riveting that was as someone who had no idea what was going to happen. The skill these guys have is insane and the way you narrate it tops it off. Great video.
