The Greatest Big 3's in NBA History

Here are the all time greatest trios in NBA history.

They say that defense wins NBA championships, but it's not true. Superstars win championships, and the more star power you have - the better. In the last 40 years, only Dirk in 2011 and Hakeem in 1994 won the NBA ring as the lone stars on the team. All the other titles went to the big twos or big threes, who are most likely in the Hall of Fame already - or are a lock to get there once their career is over.

The reason why Jordan has more three rings is because of Rodman's body sacrifice. The guy was insane in the reboulding the best ever !

Yes Rodman played D and rebounded and Scottie played D and played point forward but without MJ there is no ring... No one else in finals history was more clutch when they absolutely needed to be especially when they had no one to turn to on the team. The flu game happened because Pip choked hard.... Pip and Dennis couldn’t bring home the bacon on offense... LeBron needed DWade badly it was 3 in the clutch not LeBron... DWade helped LeBron over the edge to believe... Not only did Mj not have DWade he also never had a Kyrie... G State’s no defensive era run is harder to evaluate with the greats because the rules are so different the flow of the game and demeanor are so different from the glory days today game looks like a YMCA pick up game... Defense used to win titles... Today they shoot uncontested 40 footers and expect people to be impressed... Bring back old school ball this shit sucks...

@Toronto Raptors Funny that a guy named Toronto Raptors is giving pros to Body and Bigshot. But "Big 2s" and "Big 3s" have always been superstars. Ben and Chauncey while being part of my favorite team of all time and a part of the story of a team I've rooted for since the 80s are not and have never been by any definition "super stars". Now I know what you're going to come back with "But Ben's in the HoF" Yeah, NOW. But it took 5 years after he was eligible and a never-pending campaign by Pistons fans like me to get him there. The NBA and media at large hates that team because that was the second time a Pistons team had ended a Lakers Dynasty. They have never and will never treat anyone on that team the same way they treat any of the lowest "superstars" for instance Carmelo. Carmelo is an actual superstar in the media's eyes, does/has Ben ever been treated anywhere in the same state as good as they still treat Melo now? The answer is no.

Everyone has forgotten one of the First Not Big 3 but Big 4. The Buffalo Braves had Randy Smith at the 2, Adrian Dantley at the 3, Bob McAdoo at the 4, and ready Moses Malone at the 5, with Ernie D at the Point. Oh yes they also invented the 6 seconds to score Showtime years before the Lakers.

KD, Steph and Klay by far and I'm a Lakers fan. The dribble that steph has added to his accuracy make him an offensive monster. Than you have KD that is the tallest of them all and can get you rebound and shoot from everywhere. They might not be so good defensively but they are way better overall

Pedro Moreira nah jordan pippen and rodman by a mile. Jordan’s sheer dominance over the game is amazing along with his vertical jump. Pippen is probably the best perimeter defender of all time and rodman’s ability to get the ball where ever he wants is just amazing while having that burst of energy

I think this underplays how great the Russell-Cousy-Heinsohn big three was. The narrative downplays the threesome because the Boston dynasty outlasted Cousy's prime so they weren't a big three by the end. But in the first three years with Russell, Cousy led the league in assists and averaged 20 points a game (19.6 in the last year). He led the team as an offensive force just as Russell led it defensively. A three-year period is enough to make a big three era, as witness the two Jordan dynasties. (His decline in the fourth year only meant that he was selected to the All-NBA second team, rather than the first; Heinsohn's ppg rose commensurately.) Granted, the first of the three-year period, the Celtics lost in the finals -- because one of their big three, Russell, got injured. The fact that the team also did well as new players developed when Cousy aged shouldn't detract from the period when they had a big three.
