The accuracy of this serial is so remarkable! The small cannons on the back of camels is absolutely spot on! The position of sardars in Maratha army, the locations of battles and prior skirmishes, the names of subedars on both sides, the character development of so many side characters and the smaller details of general discussions that paved the exact way for things to happen is amazingly accurate. A lot of research has gone into making this and the serial has stuck to uniforms and flags of several sections. It's undoubtedly the most complete show which has set benchmark for other serials.

Nazar E Awadh,actually Gardi was technically right here if Bhau would have left that day as per strategy leaving dignity a part he would have prolonged this war n result would have been in favour of Maratha(Indian Army),you see if Bhau would be alive with his betallion he could have used gurilla tactics to smash Abdalis remaining forces n he could have also brought supplies n ammunition for their army later.Sometimes u have to go back so that u can attack with more force n precission n this the difference btn Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj n Bhau n thats why he was always successful against the campaigning of Aurangzeb.Even Maharana Pratap also won the war of Haldighati war with his intelligence n tactics but that doesn’t let ur dignity go down.Bcoz u see even Lord Krishna backed down from war against Jarasandh n finally he not only defeated him but also killed him through Bhimsen.So in this panipat 3 war Bhau had the chances but he never listened to his military commanders say it Holkar or Gardi,Holkar n Gardi tried to make him understand to stay back in Kunjpura for logistic n military advancement point of view but at last see what happens they end up drastically in panipat without food n supplies.Had it been Raghunath Rao or Shivaji Maharaj they would have make this war last longer to totally destroy the Enemy force within 3 or 4 days but victory would be guaranteed.But it unfortunate that things didn’t go as per strategy at panipat in 1761.

@@shafiquzzamanahmed2095 i really admire your emotions and opinion but there were few obligations on Bhau both emotionally and tactics which forced him to take that decision. Firstly as you said ,he could have moved towards Jumnaa and further to Delhi to carry and attack guerrilla war on Abdali ,but that mode of war is not possible in northern plains of Doab but only in hilly or pathaar areas such as south. He could not move because carrying the responsibility of the leader is very burdensome and when battle is balanced how could he flee from it ,may be it was also possible that bhau would have fled but the women folk could not move so swiftly and maybe they could be trapped in between by right wing of Afghan Leaving the women folk and army behind and fleeing alone with huzurat towards jamna was also not the wise option. Emotions trapped bhau because of vishvas Rao because peshwa had given responsibility for him to take care of his nephew. Lastly in the battle of Haldighati Akbar won not the Rana

Sorry bro, but he come back in 1762 in ounjab to kill all sikhs, because when he was going back to afganistan after battle of panipat, Sikhs fight against him by Guerrilla warfare and released 20000 women captured as slaves and send back to their homes safely. Abdali want to crush sikhs and he attacked at them in 1762 at night time. Sikhs were with their children womes and olders but fought with bravery and try to save as many children, women and olders. 35000 sikh warriors, children, womens got martyr that time but also kill more than 50000 afgans. In sikh history it is kniwn as vadda ghallughar.

Others also did good. But Bhau looks in tension. He was a fighter. He must have been tensed but optimistic. Pankaj Dheer looks more tense. Same with Jankoji Shinde. He is shown as bit confused. That was not the case. Jankoji was the bravest in the whole army and fought like a tiger. Most of Abdali army was cut by Hujurati and Jankoji only. But they look more tensed than they should be. They must be optimistic.

The fact is if you read Trimbak Shankar Shenwalkar's Panipat:1761 when Najib attacked Shinde contingent he did so using rockets... Half the troops under Sabaji and Mahadji turned towards rear and Tukoji and Jankoji ran towards the centre to help Bhau... Jankoji was then taken prisoner by Barkhurdar Khan.

The saddest part of the episode is the martyrdom of Sri Sadashiv Rao Bhau...He could have fled the battlefield but he sacrificed his life to save his nephew and honor....Deep respect and pranam from a Bangladeshi Hindu...Har Har Mahadev...🙏🚩🚩

Pure hindustaan par kabza no way abdali lost so much of his man power in this battle and Marathas assembled another 50k soldiers. Abdali got routed by Sikhs later and Sikhs went deep inside Afghanistan which is some of the biggest military achievement in world history.

@@rahulramakrishnan5044 interesting i thought i was the only malayalee watched this serial.. i was a kid back then .. i was reading history text of 9th standard of my elder in 1993 i guess (before ncert changed it) and was surprised that no one even in my family knew that Marathas did indeed almost ended muslim rule in India in 18th century. Since then a fan of Shrimant Peshwa.

I love watching this sword fight and horse riding etc so i was very much into this kind of serials . On the day of third battle of panipat scene , i came from school and asked my dad . Did bhau won the battle , so he replied all maratha were killed . I was very sad that day . Being i kid i never knew this was a reality . Now i could understand this. Vishwas rao, jankoji were mere 16 while fighting for their motherland ......hats off to marathas.

@@rahulramakrishnan5044 in my family and circle no one watched this serial with me and no one even heard of any Maratha warrior other than possibly Sivaji... Most malayaless don't use their brain. Neither they know Hindu concepts or our history or world history. All they know is semitic religious concepts. They think after Mughals british took over India. They cannot explain how Brits conquered India. Just a victory at plassey and later at Buxar cannot win India.. Between 1712 and 1719 when Farukh siyar was mughal emperor, Syed brothers who were the wazirs, granted right to collect taxes from Malwa (western MP), Gujarat , Khandesh (burhanpur in MP, nasik, jalgaon in Maha) to Marathas. In 1718 Farukh siyar contested this decision but Balaji Viswanath and young Srimant Bajirao came to Delhi and replaced the emperor. In 1724 Nizam ul mulk became governor of deccan and he tried to eject Marathas from Gujarat, Malwa and Khandesh . This led to battle of palkhed. Bajirao then made all 16 Rajput kings of Rajasthan and 3 Jat kings of rajasthan to pay tribute to Chatrapati rather Mughals. eastern MP, rewa division, Bundelkhand ke Raja Chatrasal also came under Maratha during this period. Jhansi, Kalpi etc are areas in bundelkhand region of UP which Marathas got. Mysore also became tributary of Maratha. Nayaks of chitradurga, keladi also protected by Maratha. Sira was captured by Maratha. in 1751 Bhosale, captured Nagpur and Vidarbha , amaravati divisions of Maharashtra and conquered Orissa from bengal nawab.. The orissa that nawab ceded to british in 1764 was actually northern circars (sarkars) or coastal andhra. Maratha raisd in Bengal in 1751 helped british establish their power in 1757 conquering Bengal, bangladesh and bihar. Mir qasim had no army , neither shah alam. The mughal army of 1764 buxar was mostly awadhi army of shuja + some rohilla and afghan. Balaji Baji rao as well as Jats of bharatpur conquered parts of lower doab, middle doab, upper doab , Haryana, delhi, and raghunath rao conquered Punjab... Mahadji after defeating gulam qadir ruled these region. Saharanpur and Agra were governed by Banda Bahadur on behalf of Mahadji... British took over north india in 1803 following second anglo maratha war

I saw it as a child too. I remember this was the first time I came to know and even asked my mother, who are Marathas? Otherwise as a child in Punjab in early 90s I barely knew about rest of India. Only memorized the names of states and their capitals in GK course.

Very Informative.. there is no doubt that Mughal rule in India faced stiff resistance at different periods from the great RAJPUT warriors, fierce AHOMS warriors from Assam & from Punjab the brave SIKHS warriors... Rightly did the great Hindi Poet Bhushana, who forsook the royal favours of the Mughal court to come over to Shivaji to record his glories, he sang :-“काशी की कला जाती, मथुरा की मसजीद बनती, अगर शिवाजी ना होते तो सबकी सुन्नत होती.” meaning : (Had not there been Shivaji, Kashi would have lost its culture,Mathura would have been turned into a mosque and all would have been circumcised.) If not for Shivaji and the Marathas, there would have existed a continuous Islamic belt from Morocco to Indonesia. What addition of 1 billion more adherents to Islam would have done to the world power balance or what would have happened to Indian legacy like yoga, ayurveda, music, art and philosophy, is not difficult to guess…. It is worthwhile examining the 'what if' of Indias history, Aurengzeb, Akbars great great grandson, had embarked on the 'Islamisation' of India. The Marathas, inspired by Shivaji, fought Aurengzeb and saved India from following the fate of Persia. The proof of Maratha victory lies in the fact that Aurengzeb lies buried, not in Lahore /Delhi or Agra , but near Aurangabad in good old Maharashtra... Indian history before Shivaji's advent reads like a chronicle of military disasters. Shivaji changed all that. He used Guerilla Tactics very effectively. Shivaji, as a great warrior & visionary laid a strong and solid foundation that after his death in 1680, there was a series of battles fought between Marathas and Mughals from 1681 to 1707 known as 'War of 27 years' and ended with the death of Aurangzeb in 1707. The Marathas eventually emerged victorious and consolidated their lost territories. This was further expanded by the Peshwas. The Maratha empire reached its peak in summer of 1758 with the conquest of Attock, which is banks of Indus river in Pakistan today. Its eastern frontier was today’s Orissa, being ruled by Raghuji Bhosale of Nagpur. Maratha armies had also reached upto Murshidabad, but then retreated and settled for tribute from Bengal and control of Orissa. To the south, in 1758, territories upto the fort of Gurramkonda in Kadappah district were held. Also, Tanjore (Thanjavur) was under Marathas, but that was a different line. In 1761, the PANIPAT war was lost to the Afghans but Marathas RECOVERED quickly like phoenix bird within 10 years and brought the whole of North Indian again under their control during the 1770's under leadership of Madhavrao Peshwa.. Eventually, the Marathas grew stronger and fought the British in three Anglo-Maratha Wars (1775-82, 1803-05, 1817-18), In the First Anglo-Maratha War (1775-1782) The Marathas emerged Victorious. A Vijay Stambh (Victory Pillar) erected to commemorate Maratha victory over British is located at Vadgaon/Wadgaon Maval, close to the city of Pune. The 2nd and 3rd were subsequently lost and British established themselves. (By the way, just for your G.K, Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is also considered as the 'Father of the Indian Navy'.) The biggest mistake done by the Marathas was taking non combatants,women alongwith them. And not approaching Rajputs,Gujjars and Sikhs for help. I understand they made an alliance with Surajmal Jat but he dropped in between leaving them alone to fight the invader, Abdali. Even the Maratha artillery was heavy which could not be moved into the enemy's army. Abdali's Shaturnal which means camel mounted light weight cannons caused a lot of damage. One more cause was the food and water supplies of the Marathas were cut off by the Afghans which was a big blow and the marathas ended up killing their own horses and bullock which accompanied them during the war and many have died due to hunger. RIP the Maratha, pindari and the pathani regiment of Ibrahim Gardi

Sikh Maharaja Ranjit Singh took the revenge for Marathas from Abdali, they harassed Durranis for next 50-100 years while Mahadji Scindia harrased Rohillas Pathans of Najib khan in future.

One more mistake done by the marathas was they didn't take help from the Gorkhas which also costed them. As the Sikh empire king Maharaja Ranjit Singh formed an alliance with them which helped him to defeat the Afghans. Even the British maintained cordial relations with the Gurkhas which helped them to extend their empire in our country.

Janko ji scindia fought in all the skirmishes that took place with Afghans right from Battle of Burari in delhi jan 1760 were he was wounded to battle of panipat in jan 1761 where he was captured and later killed in captivity. Whole scindia clan parished in these series of battles dattaji, jankoji, tukoji except mahad ji scindia.

There are many mistakes in this episode: 1. 40000-50000 non combatants common men women and children were killed after the war in the night and on next day. Thousand women were raped.. thousands of men were beheaded. Women and men were taken as slaves to Kabul. There were 32 mounds of dead bodies. Lots of Heads were put on swords and bhala and were danced by abdali men. 2. Vishwasrao was not killed by sword. He was hit by Gunfire. There were no gunfires shown in entire war sequence. His body was then kept on an elephant till the end. 3. Malharrao Holkar and Mahadji Shinde were fighting for long time. They retreated after Vishwasrao was killed. 4. Bhau was on elephant till news of Vishwasrao came to him. 5. Bhau and Jankoji were the last members to get killed and they were killed at late evening. Bhau was wearing a headgear and he was found beheaded. 6. Ibrahim gardi fought and caught but Abdali himself didn't kill him. He was killed in anger by Abdali army men. 7. People like antaji mankeshwar are not even shown in the whole serial. They too got wounded but got killed later on. 8. When Vishwasrao was killed, the news spread like fire and reached the non combatant camp. Lots of women and men got scared and everyone started running. Same happened in Holkar camp. 9. Thousands of women men were killed in Panipat village in next 2 days. 10. Malharrao Holkar never met any of the women until they both reached Surajmal Jat's area. 11. Parvatibai was attacked but she was saved by a soldier who took her safely somehow to Surajmal Jat's area through jungle. 12. Many women were raped and killed mercilessly. 13. Jankoji Shinde was killed along with Bhau. They were the last fighting warriors and were alive till evening. Jankoji was only 20 years old and probably caused more destruction to Abdali than anyone else. 14. Gardi was probably caught after or at the same time when Vishwasrao fell. He was arrested and probably even killed before death of Bhau because Bhau was alive till evening. 15. Probably noone in the camp knew about what happened each other except the death of Vishwasrao which was known to all. 16. Bhau's body was never identified by Abdali. He was known to have disappeared but some Maratha soldiers identified him from an old wound on his body in the heap of corpses. He had sword in hand, was wounded in the waist and was beheaded. 17. Mahadji Shinde was not the senior amongst shindes at that time. Jankoji was the senior. Mahadji was comparatively inexperienced. Jankoji was always there in meetings with Bhau, not Mahadji. Jankoji was known to be fearless who never felt scared even if 1000s of soldiers were attacking. 18. Bhau and Gardi never met. Bhau was told to go with women by some one from Shindes. But he refused saying whatever will happen will happen here. 19. Bhau never became emotional. He was upset by Vishwasrao death but was a warrior who fought with all might. He even attacked 3 when only 100-200 men were remaining and said I'll kill Abdali and end the war. 20. Maratha army also included a small army of Abdali's men who had joined Marathas after Kunjapura. They were in the army of Vitthal Shivdev Vinchrukar. They were wearing saffron fetas to be identified. They began running away after Vinchrukar army was getting defeated. They went into village and loted the women and other people there. 21. Women and Noncombatants were not just looted by Abdali but other local goons too who use to hide in the jungles.

this is all false history, abdali neither won the war nor marathas lost the war, both sides lost equal number of men. abdali lost 1lakh men total infact he lost a eye & limped due to leg injury, nanasaheb decided to teach a gud lesson but died of heart attack so sawai madhavrao took charge of throne & ordered execution of 5lakh afghan sympathizers in north including mass rape of women who provided food & lust to afghans, thus taking revenge of panipat war, later mahadji also taught afghans & rohillas a gud lesson. remember hindus will have to loot kill rape these malechas come wat may in times of war no decency or respect shud b shown towards them 😍

35000 afghans die panipat war 10-15000 afghans die in kunjpura war. Later on sikhs killed many afghans in sikh afghan wars in leadership of hari singh nalwa and maharaja ranjit singh.

This serial could have done better with the character of Sadashiv Rao as he was a brave a commander in cheif in history and he also killed Atai Khan whilst he tried to get to the elephant of Bhau

Atai Khan was killed by some other Maratha warrior.... Sadashiv Rao was brave but not good politicially....he couldn't even get the Rajputs on his side ....imagine a Sikh and Rajput cavalry making final charge on abdali ...sab saale yahin dafan ho jaate

@@nit23sharma Infact, foolishly charging the Afghan ranks was one of his many blunders during the course of battle ....seeing his elephant empty created chaos in maratha camp, leading to massive fled of maratha soldiers from the battle ground.

@@paulhowrang ...bro we can speak with the benefit of hind sight...but imagine the emotions of the person who is watching his nephew shot down and his troops being slaughtered....in The great maratha Gardi implores him to run away and save himself so that the army and the morale of the troops remains....that's why I am saying Bhau was a brave warrior but stupid politician......no one has achieved anything after dying....he should have saved his army and lived with the disgrace of running away....and then in next year invaded kandhar with the Persian Shah ...but we didn't had people with such intellect...

Even Damaji Gaikwad, Vithal Shivdeo and Yashwant rao pawar went against the order of bhau which caused the defeat of the battle.

aisa nahi tha ibrahim khan gardi ka top khana bahut majboot tha. yeh haar iss vajah se hui kyoki vishvasrao ko sudden bullet lagi uski death ho gayi. yeh socha nahi gaya tha na hi iske liye koi tayyar tha. upar se khaali pait aur over confidence bhi marathas par bhaari padi.

But Marathas lost 100000 Lakhs soldiers and 50000 civilians.. Afghan lost mostly in Kunjpura, Delhi and chajjpur I But marathas lost badly at panipath 1.5 lakhs total .
