पानीपत युद्ध का ऐसा विशद वर्णन आज तक नही देखा , नही सुना हर पल ऐसा लगा जैसे हम स्वयं पानीपत में उपस्थित हैं , आपका वर्णन अतुनीय है अद्वितीय है आशा करता हूँ आगे भी आप निरन्तरता बनाये रखेंगे रही बात रघुनाथ राव के सेनापति बनाकर भेजे जाने की तो मुझे लगता है की उपलब्ध संसाधनों के साथ उसकी परिणति भी समान होती , भाऊ निःसंदेह बेहतरीन सेनापति था पर संसाधनों का आभाव उनकी पराजय का कारण बना

मैं एक सिक्ख हू। मराठों ने बहुत बहादुरी से लडाई की। जीत नही सके, वो एक अलग बात है। मराठों वीरों को सलाम। पंजाब में एक कहावत है कि "पानीपत की तीसरी लडाई लडी तो मराठों ने थी पर जीती सिक्खों ने थी।" कारण यहीं था कि पानीपत की तीसरी लडाई के बाद अब्दाली कमजोर हो गया था। हालांकि अब्दाली के हाथों सिक्खों ने भी बहुत नुकसान उठाया था। बडा घललूघारा (Holocaust) में एक ही दिन में 35000 सिक्ख मारे गये थे। इसके कुछ ही समय बाद सिकखो ने अब्दाली को लाहौर से भगाया।

The Kannada Vijayanagar ( later Tulu) empire was the first large organized Hindu empire in Indian subcontinent after the arrival of Islamic rulers This empire showed other hindus who had been under Islamic rule that an hindu rule was possible . Shivaji the future Maharaj spent his younger days in Bengaluru.Here he heard stories of the Vijaynagar kings and their exploits and he also heard stories of the Mysore Wodeyar King Ranadheera Kanteerava who was a heroic and dynamic ruler of Mysore at that time Ranadheera Kanteerava was one of the first to employ guerilla tactics against his enemies. Shivaji Maharaja ancestors were from Gadag which is near Dharwad city of North Karnataka.Bhosale vamsh is nothing but Hoysale Vamsha a famous ancient hindu dynasty of Karnataka In earlier days Karnataka and Maharastra were one and same Chalukya king Pulikeshi II had defeated in a very clever tactical battle North Indian king Harshavardhana on the banks of river Narmada. Pulikeshi divided his kingdom into several adminstrative areas called Maharastrikas ( corroborated by Chinese traveller Huen Tsang who visited Pulikeshi II court and also Harshavardhana court)Hence the name Maharastra Maha high rastra land Karu high nadu land Both mean deccan plateau or highland Rastrakoota empire of Karnataka and Chalukya empire of Karnataka was ruling over complete deccan plateau.The area of conquest of Rastrakootas up to Kannauj and conquest of Gangetic areas by Chalukyas is repeated centuries later by their descendants who were now the Marathas when they conquered Delhi. Marathas have a racial cultural religious and historical link to South Indians especially Kannada peoples which seem.to have been forgotten by present day Maharastrians who look north ward more than south ward where their roots lie (The Kannada Shilahara dynasty was ruling Mumbai for 500 years.Kannada Seuna or Yadava dynasty was ruling over Deccan from Devagiri in present day Maharashtra. ) It should be remembered here in passing that the North Indian Hindu Jats and Rajputs did not support Marathas and remained neutral in the third battle of Panipat though the North Indian islamic rulers Rohillas and others joined Afghans based on a religious affiliation

@@dcmhsotaeh Stop spreading false Propaganda. Bhosale name came from Bhosaji Guhilot, who was a direct descendant of Lakshmansimha Guhilot of Chittor. There is no Kannadiga connection to Bhosales though Marathas in general have many connections with Kannadiga Clans.

मैं स्वयं इतिहास का छात्र रहा हूँ और मैं यह मानता हूं कि पानीपत के युद्ध का इससे बेहतर और निष्पक्ष विशलेषण शायद नहीं हो सकता है ।यह युद्ध मराठों के परम्परागत युद्ध शैली से भिन्न था जहां वे तड़ित की तेजी से शत्रु को चौंकाते हुए उन पर टूट पड़ते थे किन्तु पानीपत में शत्रु के आमने-सामने रहने के कारण surprise attack वाला तत्व कारगर नहीं रहा और साथ ही महिलाओं और भारी तोपखाने ने मराठों के गति और तीव्रता को पहले ही खत्म कर दिया था ।

@Mohammed Sultan भाई सुजा उदोल्ला को मदद करनेसे पहले अब्दाली यमुना पार कर दुआब में सुजा उदोला के पास पहुंचा था हा ये बात सही है कि रणभूमि तक जानेकेलिए मराठा को देर लगी कहिनाकही पेशवा की नेतृत्व की कमी इसमें दिखती है ओर मराठों के पास रसद कम ओर उनके परिवार उनके साथ गए थे रणभूमि में जानेतक उनकी सारी सामग्री खत्म हुई ओर सिखोने राजपुत जाटों ने भी सहायता नहीं की सिर्फ़ आश्वासन दिया मुग़ल ओर मराठा अब्दाली के साथ लढ़े पहले प्रहर तक हम उनसे आगे थे लेकिन भूक से बेहाल मराठा जादा देर तक टिक नहीं पाए ओर तभी सदाशिव राव भाऊ हाथिसे नीचे उतरे अपने नेतृत्व को हाथीपर ना देख मराठा तीतर बितर हुए ओर युद्धभूमि से भाग गए

@@HistoryGuru Hmmm.. but a historian should be devoid of any emotion and prejudice. For which I liked ur narration. It was not filled with biased propaganda. 👍. I don't think Sadashiv was that great a strategist or a fighter. Rather his father Chimaji Appa was a real jwel ( people glorify Bajirao, but Chimaji actually won more difficult battles and very intelligent). Sadashiv might have got his father's valor, but not intelligence and strategic acumen. He might have wanted to use this battle to put his claim on Peshwa Chief. Hence functioned with haste. Probably allowed civilians and pilgrimage to gather support from people on religious ground. Had he won the battle and ensure safe pilgrimage, he would've had no competitor to claim Peshwa Chieftain post. Because Hindu people always put pilgrimage to very high order in their lives.

@@subhadeepmandal2221 as far as Chimaji is concerned we totally agree with you. Regarding Bhau, he showed momentary brilliance at the battlefield for which he should get full credit. He showed valour in the battlefield and died a hero's death, much like Tipu Sultan, actually a political fool who is praised for some far-fetched ridiculous reasons.

You have missed Baloch army which fought under the command of their King Khan of Qalat Amer Noori Nasir Khsn Baloch and due to their bravery Afghan King Hazrat Ahmed Shah Abdali gave all captured Marhatha soldiers as slaves at present these people are living in Balochistan with the trible name as Marhatta Baloch .

Actually , peshawa nanasaheb was responsible for defeat of Marathas , bcoz he fragmented Marathas . He destroyed maratha navy Which was build and enlarged by Chh. Shivaji and Shambhu maharaj, he bittered relations of all maratha legends like Bhosle of nagpur, scindia, gaikwad .and instead of defeating Nijam completely marathas went northwards which was not necessary. Also when Sadishivrao bhau needed help from Maharashtra at that time peshwa nanasaheb waa busy in getting married with a nine year old girl. So really nanasaheb and only nanasaheb peshwa should be decided responsible for defeat of Marathas.

If Afghans were given a chance to leave the battle in the beginning and head towards Delhi and back to Afghanistan why didn't the Marathas let them pass ? The battle could have been averted. Didn't the Marathas believe "live today to fight another day" ?

Very Good Video.Unfortunately a battle which the Marathas were on the verge of victory was lost due to monumental blunders of Vithal Vinchurkar and Damaji Gaekwad (compared to the very experienced Raghunath Rao) due to which Ibrahim Khan Gardi,who repulsed the Afghan Onslaught during the battle killing 12000 Afghan Cavalry and infantryman and around 45000 men from the Durrani army of Ahmed Shah, was unable to Fire His Artillery against the Afghan army of Durrani. Ibrahim Khan Gardi was ultimately caught and taken P.O.W.the Afghans and was tortured horribly by the Barbarian Abdali who after disgorging the eyes of Gardi was mercilessly killed.The Barbarian Abdali also massacred Lakhs of Civilians and Non Combatants which accompanied the Maratha Army. Indian History is Full of and Replete with Greed and Betryals commencing from Battle of Plassey in 1751 with betrayal by Mir Jaffer, Ganoji Raje Shirke Betraying Sambhaji Maharaj, Malik Jiwan Panni betraying Dara Shikoh and Veerbhadra Tiwari betraying Chandrasekhar Azad and the list of Betryals and Duplicity is endless.

Malharrao Holkar considered Najib Khan as his adapted son and hence throughout the history there was never ever clashes between Holkar and Rohillas, on the other Dattaji Shinde and Najib Khan were sworn enemies. Shinde's army was the one who used to take on Rohillas on their own and they were not defeated by Rohillas in all clashes prior to war as mentioned by you, as a matter of fact except battle of Burari ghat near Delhi in which Dattaji Shinde was beheaded there was not a single battle in which Rohillas managed to have upper hand over Shindes army, it was battle hardened Maratha men of of Shindes army who always dominated Rohillas in most clashes prior to Panipat, not just Rohillas but Shindes army under command of Sabaji Shinde had thrashed Afghans in their own north west region when Marathas captured Attock fort and reached as far as present day Peshawar. Bhau's too much reliance on Gardi and his artillery based defensive tactics and ignoring suggestions of veterans like Holkar and Suraj Mal Jat is also one of the major reason behind defeat. I doubt Marathas would have won the war even if they stick to original plan since the actual plan was not to defeat rohilla-afghan force but to move civilians to Delhi under the protection of intact Maratha center and left wing, given the fact that Marathas had been trough 3 weeks of severe starvation in which many animals and men died its idiotic to even think that they could have pulled off that kind of feat of transporting such large number of civilians to Delhi after fighting such tiresome war, as a matter of fact several of Huzurat cavalry horses falling down after 12 noon, since they were exhausted beyond their capacity and had no food to carry on fighting. Nansaheb is also to be blamed for now showing up in north in time with reinforcement, he was busy getting married to teenage girl of wealthy trader in Nashik and unnecessarily wasted precious time which could have changed the final outcome of that war.

@Bindaas Mard........yes Holkar escape from battlefield was somewhat doubtful in front of Najib khan rohilla......I guess in 1758 Najib khan was captured in Delhi raid of Maratha...it was holkar who suggested to free Najib khan and let him go..... thereafter Najib khan invited Abdali and allied Sauj ad duala for sake of islaam and planned the panipat.

@@alokpisal Thats bitter truth that no one talks about, Marathas under leadership of Raghunathrao had captured Najib Khan alive in Sep -1757 itself, he had looted and spelled so much Hindu blood in that year in entire northern region starting from Punjab till Mathura with the help of Abdali's afghan forces that it was at least 20 times greater than massacre of Maratha civilians after Panipat war !!!! Almost all local Maratha chiefs/commanders/ambassadors and even some Mughal chiefs had urged Raghunathrao to finish off Najib Khan once and for all since he is nothing but shadow of Abdali and as far as Najib is alive Abdali will have permanent local ally in north India in his form. But Malharrao Holkar requested Raghunathrao not to kill Najib and set him free on terms and conditions that he will never ever make his claim over Delhi and wont side with Abdali in future, needless to say this pact didnt even lasted for a couple of years since Najib joined Abdali once again just outside Delhi at Burari ghat in Jan-1760. Holkar had once fought alongside with great Peshwa Bajirao himself who bought entire Mughal empire under saffron flag of Marathas. But then why would such brave and courageous veteran Maratha general saved snake like Najib Khan ? let's see how many know the the real reason behind this and then I would be happy to share my own thoughts based on factual history.

@@bindaasmard664 Yes that was the greatest mistake and setback to let free Najib khan rohilla.......But can you throw some light on why Sauj ad duala allied with Abdali instead of Maratha , as previously Maratha had been helping him or his father in various way....why he chose Abdali , was it in fear or sake of Islaam unity ?

@@alokpisal It wasnt mistake from Holkars point of view but a strategic gain, if you look at history just through various events you will only have generic idea and opinion about it but if you dive deeper into it and understand psyche of those characters who made or became part of history then you come to know a totally different side of the same coin. One of the major reason behind Marathas tragic loss at Panipat and eventual decline during Anglo-Marathas wars is hidden in part of history's timeline when Chatrapati Shivaji Maharajs son Chatrapati Rajaram and his wife Maharani Tarabai were defending tiny Maratha kingdom against mighty Mughal army under leadership of Aurangzeb himself who spent last 27 years of his life in Auragabad to finish off Marathas once and for all but by the end all he could manage to win and retain against Marathas was 100 sq feet of space for his own tomb.

It is true... 'Those who do not learn from History are doomed to repeat it.' The Mughal rule began in 1526 with Babur's accession to the throne, and ended with the death of Aurangzeb in 1707. Overall the Mughals ruled northern part of India for approx 181 years and ruined India. The Mughal empire rapidly disintegrated after Aurangzebs death and was replaced by the Maratha Confederacy. At its peak the Maratha empire covered much of South Asia, with a territory of over 2.8 million km² and stretched from Tamil Nadu in the south, to Peshawar & Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan in the north, and Bengal Subah in the east. To understand the rise and prominence of the Marathas lets dig a little deeper : There is NO doubt that the brutal & fanatic Islamic Mughal rule in India faced stiff resistance at different periods from the great RAJPUT warriors, fierce AHOM warriors from Assam & from Punjab the brave SIKH warriors...rightly did the great Hindi Poet Bhushana, who forsook the royal favours of the Mughal court to come over to Shivaji to record his glories, sang :-“काशी की कला जाती, मथुरा की मसजीद बनती, अगर शिवाजी ना होते तो सबकी सुन्नत होती.” meaning : (Had not there been Shivaji, Kashi would have lost its culture,Mathura would have been turned into a mosque and all would have been circumcised.) If not for Shivaji and the Marathas, there would have existed a continuous Islamic belt from Morocco to Indonesia. What addition of 1 billion more adherents to Islam would have done to the world power balance or what would have happened to Indian legacy like yoga, ayurveda, music, art and philosophy, is not difficult to guess…. It is worthwhile examining the 'what if' of Indias history, Aurengzeb, Akbars great great grandson, had embarked on the 'Islamisation' of India. The Marathas, inspired by Shivaji, fought Aurengzeb and saved India from following the fate of Persia. The proof of Maratha victory lies in the fact that Aurangzeb lies buried, not in Lahore /Delhi or Agra, but near Aurangabad in good old Maharashtra... Indian history before Shivaji's advent reads like a chronicle of military disasters. Shivaji changed all that. He used Guerilla Tactics (hit and run) very effectively. Shivaji, as a great warrior & visionary laid a solid foundation such, that after his death in 1680, there was a series of battles fought between Marathas and Mughals from 1681 to 1707 known as 'War of 27 years' and ended with the death of Aurangzeb in 1707, about 2.5 million of Aurangzeb's army were killed during the Mughal-Maratha War of 27 years. The Marathas eventually emerged victorious and this was followed by the phase of rapid expansion of the Maratha Empire for the next 50 years under patronage of Shahu and his appointed Peshwas Baji Rao I and Balaji Baji Rao. Chatrapati Shivaji is also credited for the laying the foundation of the Indian Navy. He appointed Kanoji Angre the chief of the Maratha Navy who fought against the British, Dutch and Portuguese naval interests on the coasts of India during the 18th century and became their greatest enemy on sea, so much was he dreaded that the British and Europeans labeled him a pirate. He was instrumental bringing about a considerable change in Naval Warfare by introducing a Blue-water navy in those times. The Maratha empire reached its peak in summer of 1758 with the conquest of Attock, which is banks of Indus river in Pakistan today*(check Notes below). Maratha Empire's eastern frontier was today’s Orissa, being ruled by Raghuji Bhosale of Nagpur. Maratha armies had also reached upto Murshidabad, but then retreated and settled for tribute from Bengal and control of Orissa. To the south, in 1758, territories upto the fort of Gurramkonda in Kadappah district were held. Also, Tanjore (Thanjavur) was under Marathas, but that was a different line. In 1761, the 3rd battle of PANIPAT war was lost to the Afghans but they RECOVERED quickly like phoenix bird from ashes and within 10 years (during the 1770's) brought the whole of North India in their control under the able leadership of Madhavrao Peshwa. Marathas also comprehensively defeated the Nizam of Hyderabad and kept Hyder Ali- Tipu Sultan of Mysore in serious check. During this phase, Pune, the seat of Peshwas, flourished as a center of Hindu learning and traditions. The Confederacy is also credited for developing many of the nation’s important cities like Pune, Baroda under Gaikwads, Indore under Holkars and Gwalior under Shinde's or Scindia's. Eventually, the Marathas grew stronger and fought the British in three Anglo-Maratha Wars (1775-82, 1803-05, 1817-18), In the First Anglo-Maratha War (1775-1782) the Marathas emerged Victorious. A Vijay Stambh (Victory Pillar) erected to commemorate Maratha victory over British is located at Vadgaon/Wadgaon Maval, close to the city of Pune. The 2nd and 3rd were subsequently lost and British established themselves which was followed by the Uprising of 1857. Thus after a prolonged fight with the Marathas and with the Sikhs in Punjab the British firmly established themselves as the de-facto rulers of India. As mentioned above, the British were technologically superior to the Marathas..and hence they were at an advantage. (-By the way, just for your G.K, Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is considered today as the 'Father of the Indian Navy'AND apart from Jijabai-mother of Shivaji, the other 2 well known Women personalities emerging from the Maratha Confederacy were Devi AHILYABAI HOLKAR from Indore, Maharani Tarabai and RANI LAXMIBAI of Jhansi also known as Manikarnika. * "Lahore, Multan, Kashmir and other subahs on this side of Attock are under our rule for the most part, and places which have not come under our rule we shall soon bring under us. Ahmad Shah Durrani's son Timur Shah Durrani and Jahan Khan have been pursued by our troops, and their troops completely looted. Both of them have now reached Peshawar with a few broken troops . . . So Ahmad Shah Durrani has returned to Kandahar with some 12-14 thousand broken troops.. Thus all have risen against Ahmad who has lost control over the region. We have decided to extend our rule up to Kandahar." - Raghunathrao's letter to the Maratha Peshwa, 4 May 1758.

@ 21:30 difference between bhau and abdali comes from age , bhau was young agile so he thought like a soldier and fought from the front , but abdali was experienced and aged so he was thinking like a military planner better strategy , better training, allocation of resources to correct people at the right time produces right results .

Scindia send nearly 3k horsemen to counter Najeeb. They fought Najib forces bravely and nearly killed 4k rohillas but scindi also lost nearly 2k. In the meantime Scindia asked help from Holker who dint responded call. With no response from holker remaining Scindia decided to join the figh to support remaining 1k from initiall attack. With 4k killed out of 6k, Najib was left with 3k rohillas. He knew he wont be able to survive so je called Abdalli and Abdalli order sha pasand (5k) from extreeem right to join rohilaa against Scindia garrison. So another strong force of nearly 8k reinforced remaining 2k from initial rohila attack. So it was nearly 8 to 9k rohillas against 2 to 3k Scindia garrison. Scindia fought bravely killing another 4 to 5 before their whole garrison was wiped out by such strong force. Janko ji was captured, Tukoji was killed and Mahadji was severely injured and was taken out of battle field. He later joined Holker and escaped.
