At 1.51 the narrator says the river Yare that runs through Norwich etc etc, I thought it was the Wensum that ran through Norwich.

No you are correct that was my mistake the Yare diverts off just before reaching Norwich the river than runs though the centre of the city can caused most of flooding was the Wensum, I always get the 2 mixed up I thought I had checked carefully for that but it must of slipped though, Thank you for pointing that out I will pin your comment to let other know as well.

What a terrible catastrophe, I had never been aware of this until watching your video. It must have made so much damage and destruction as you informed us, let alone the suffering of the people. Thank you for such wonderful historical information. First class , every time . 👌🏼

Excellent! How excellent this is. I really appreciate the history you are presenting here. It is almost like the 20th century didn't really happen, it went kind of fast, I guess! But, the 20thC. history is just as important as any other time.

Great channel, only came across it today as I'm a true crime fan and your Tabernacle street murder showed up as recommended. Really enjoying your videos and I love your narration. I hope this channel grows as it's seriously underrated!

Thank you so much for this wonderful historic upload. We moved to Norfolk over a year and a half ago. Just outside Norwich (Brundall) from Wales where we are used to rain, rain and more rain. Hence webbed feet! But since living here cannot believe how dry the beautiful county is! However, we have noticed that when it runs here it doesn’t take long to flood! The water rolls off the fields. The A47 can’t cope. The Broads channels that they have built do help these rivers to contain the extra rain. Just the drains and roads cannot cope. It’s so beautiful here, we are absolutely loving our new life and this video is a wonderful insight into history! Thank you so much for taking the time to share this 🤗

I'm very glad you enjoyed it, I know Brundall went rowing and sailing there many times when I was in Sea Cadets. The flooding is down side to Norfolk being the driest county in the country the grown and drains are not built for anything substantial. Driving around over Christmas with all the rain we had just before I think very field from Bungay to Diss was flooded.

@@alittlebitofhistory yes there was a lot of flooding just before Christmas. The fields are still very wet. Hoping to see snow ❄️ this winter here. That would be magical! I’m going to go through your videos as they are very interesting. Thanks again and have a wonderfully creative year ahead! 🙂

My late mother was a two year old Norwich child at the time of the 1912 flood. My paternal grandfather was born at Higham, Norwich in 1886.

It's kind of interesting to know that people unwisely driving onto flooded roads isn't a new thing. Never would have thought someone would try it with a horse and wagon!
