Very interesting, despite the strangely inaccurate subtitles! I learned to sail as a schoolboy on Barton Broad 1967-1972, camping at the Hertfordshire Sailing facility at Barton Turf, and have been back numerous times since with family and friends. The skills I learnt then have since taken me sailing all around Europe crewing in a 28' yacht for two week each year 1996-2015. I will be back on the Broads two times in 2021!

I remember this documentary! As a kid I produced a short video on the broads as a GCSE media studies project, and a copy of it got sent to the broads authority. They replied with a thankyou letter and a copy of this documentary on VHS... great stuff. :)

In the video most of the boats look like they are made of wood, different from the present day as most look like they are made of fibreglass.

I am looking forward to hiring a 1950s classic wooden motor cruiser from Martham Boatyard with two close friends this October. We have previously hired both wooden and plastic sailing yachts, the oldest of which was built in 1923 and has recently been restored by Eastwood-Whelpton's new management.
