    The movie was very enjoyable, MMMMUCH better than I expected. Also it took Ana de Armas actually out loud saying in an interview that it's nice that her character didn't have to be MC's love interest for me to realize that I never once expected her to be one while watching the movie, which means that her character actually had a purpose in the story and stood on her own

    I did watch this movie before this review posted and "I got shot in the ass, Suzanne!" is one of the best moments. I didn't like how some of the action sequences were shot, especially how blurry it gets when they fall out of the plane, and how most of the action was shot in low lighting, (presumably to obfuscate the use of stuntmen) but the banter of Ryan Goslings character and Chris Evans (both individually and together) kept me from turning it off.

    I loved this movie, but I also went in entirely head empty and just there to enjoy the banter and Evans having a BLAST chewing the scenery as a truly unhinged villain, and both those things delivered so the rest was just icing on the cake. It absolutely had weak points- namely the plot (and some of the VFX- I will always be a practical effect gal). But it's was a thoroughly enjoyable bit of mindless action. Not high art but a hell of a good time. I agree that I'm not sure how it will carry a sequel because I found the most enjoyable parts were all Evans playing off of everyone else, primarily Gosling though, so without him I'll have little draw to any future entries. Apparently Gosling improvised the "trash 'stache" bit (and there are several different versions out there that I'm dying to see) so there's potential for them to find someone else for him to play off of like that again, but again, arrogant asshole Evans was just the most compelling to watch (as always).

    @@eospolaris9472 pretty much. And the worse thing is because of this movie, people think this is how Jane Austen fans are with adaptations but it's not. Adaptations of Jane Austen have been done for years and every one of them has been good. It's not hard to adapt Austen. This movie missed that mark in a way that has not been done in centuries all because of one simple thing. They chose the wrong book. They could have done any other Austen novel and it would have been fine! But they chose the last book Austen wrote that has a very melancholy story with a different heroine from any of her other books. And the director instead of simply labeling it a parody, called it "loyal adaption". Like no 😅

    Happy Birthday 🎉🎉🎉 I agree with everything you said. Love Evans when he plays roles like this because it is so evident that he's having fun. The way he delivered that shot in the 🍑 line was perfect & the Ken doll reference stole the whole movie for me. I want a movie focusing on the epic "bromance" between Lloyd and Carmichael that Suzanne alluded to. And, if in the next one they cast Ryan Reynolds as the villain to make it an action quip off between the Ryans, I am 100% into that.

    Reviews of The Gray Man are mixed but if you liked the intermittently fast and furious pace of Bill Fairclough’s epic fact based spy novel Beyond Enkription in The Burlington Files series then you will love Anthony Russo's The Gray Man and vice versa. They both make parts of Robert Ludlum’s Jason Bourne series look like slow horses! The Gray Man is about a renegade CIA agent on the run and stars Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans; it’s based on Mark Greaney's debut novel of the same name. Fairclough’s factual stand-alone thriller Beyond Enkription is about a (real life) MI6 agent on the run from international organised crime gangs and Haiti’s TonTon Macoute from London to Nassau and Port au Prince to Miami. The Gray Man and The Burlington Files are both musts for espionage aficionados. The difference between them is that The Burlington Files series has mainly had five star reviews, it’s factual, full of real characters and was written for espionage cognoscenti.

    The novel persuasion has a lot of comedic elements and a happy ending, the idea that it's a tragic ballad to lost love is not true to authorial intent and y'all need to get over yourselves and let people have fun.

  • @filmfangirls9163

    @filmfangirls9163

    @@verybarebones that's not at all what people are upset about. Yes youre right. The comedy aspect isn't a huge deal that could have worked in this way. Its not a comedy but it could work if in the right hands. It's the main character. They didn't need to change her and make her the total opposite of who she was in the book. There's really nothing wrong with people who love this story, hating this movie. Austen fans aren't sending hate to people and no one would have been mad at Amanda for liking it. She had never read it so it's same concept as all adaptations when going in blind. To be honest the ones I see angry, are the ones who liked the movie and feel the need to defend it. If you liked it that's fine. Enjoy! But not everyone is going to. It's the first time Austen has ever been done wrong. That's over 50 movies that got it right and one wrong. Were allowed to be annoyed by it. And you're right it's not a tragic ballad of lost love. But I feel That's what that stupid movie is trying to say it was by simply making them exes. It was far more complicated than that.
