congrats. I just got my omitawari sbgy007 on strap today - wanted this and cherry blossom-- got this at a great price (yen vs $) shipped to me in NYC got it like 20 minutes ago love love love it!!! don't think of a bracelet for moi, thanks for showing it, maybe in the future!

I tried this watch on my wrist! Totally love that bracket and the thinness of the dial. Wish they had it in more colors because this watch is gorgeous!

Really cool that th bracelet also fits the light blue Omiwatari. I wish the bracelet was cheaper though but either way that opens up more options. Very nice footage too, the watch looks great in the video.

What a stunner!!!!!!

Love the idea of a thin manual wind spring drive, but in all honesty I’m not convinced on the SBGY cases. The cushion case design makes it appear somewhat larger than even their 40mm Elegance models. Would love if they managed to fit this movement into something like a thinner variant of their 37mm SBGW cases.

Ooof I completely agree. The case is a little too cushion-y compared to what I personally prefer like the 44GS, 62GS cases. It would be amazing to see this in a more angular case.

I actually really like the case mostly because it is different. There are so many cases out there from various brands that look so much indistinguishable. This watch has its own identity

Wouldn’t say no to both, I was taking a run up to convince myself to get the 007, I’m just waiting for it to come into the local dealer so I can see it, I would love to see the 013 now

I hope they make an inverted version of this with more brushed finished but still have a little bit of gloss zuratsu finish.

Great review, you've got me subscribed already! IMO the watch is beautiful, but I think it needs to shrink down a bit in diameter and thickness.. My go-for dress watch is an SBGW, and hope they equip the case with a spring drive!

Beautiful but I’ve been struggling with the size of my sbgk005 (have the bracelet also). Just wears too big for how much vacant space is on the dial. For dress watches I think 37mm and under is the sweet spot for my 17cm wrist. Hopefully GS will bring out some more sbgw231 variations with slimmer cases

Love to see a GS movement progress to having a micro rotor.

Technically not everyday, as it has a 72 hour power reserve, but I get your point. I also prefer automatic, but this manual spring drive is so damn elegant I'm actually thinking about buying it..

I want the Shunbun dial in this case!

This watch was announced the day I got my Omiwatari delivered. That being said, I’m glad I got the Omiwatari. The light blue shade really looks nice and pops even I low light. I feel the white, while beautiful, doesn’t seem special.

Yes, use some Bergeon spring bar removal tool and some tape. I may make a video to show a tutorial if enough people request!

If you pay close to attention to 4:10-4:15, it's plenty obvious that this watch floats rather than stays planted on his wrist. What gives then? This will be somewhat fidgety to wear and won't stay in place all that well. GS has many newer models which heavily emphasize its LOW center of gravity. This and Sbgy007 don't come advertised with such feature so go figure here! Heck, I am immediately put off considering it after seeing my Rolex OP36 just stays planted better on my wrist. 😂

Amazes me how much effort GS puts into dials, finishes and movements yet doesn't seem to care about the bracelet at all something is only as good as it's weakest link a taper and micros adjust are not optional . I tried on most of the GS they had ilast time I was n the AD we had a great conversation and I am impressed with many of the brands watches but do yourself a favour and sort your bracelets out .

I actually perfer the SBGW braclet over this one, the SBGY007 with the SBGW braclet is absolut perfection! Did you do a video on it that I missed?

Good eye! No, I've never put that clip up anywhere besides here since its not the "official" Grand Seiko bracelet for the SBGY case. If you're interested, the reference for that Beads of Rice bracelet is A00A211J9 / J0 which originally came from the SBGT241, but just keep in mind it is not a perfect one to one fit and requires slight modification like bending the spring bar to properly fit. If you want the bracelet that fits properly, then you would just order the same 9-link steel bracelet from SBGY013.

So I have a series 7 which looks just like this but5 with date and day window. I paid under $100. ; yes, no hacking. I get these are hand-crafted, etc. but I can't see a big difference for the price.

Does this watch have a ghost date position? I heard the SBGY007 does.

Not all the SBGY series watches have the same case shape; the flatter 44GS case on the 009 and 011 do not appear as if they would match the 9-link bracelet presented here.

Almost took my glasses off like in Jurassic Park, when i say that watch at 1:03

I prefer the 007 on the blue crocodile strap.

Out of all the Grand Seiko's you've ever owned or come across, which would you say where your absolute favorites?

Bracelet on 6 o’clock shorter is the secret to better fitting bracelet. instead of making both side the same length to fit on wrist 💯

If the case was available in titanium this would be THE perfect watch for me. I‘d actually consider spending 10k on a watch one day just for that.

Does this bracelet fit on the sbgy009?

Stunning dial!! But between the two, I think I prefer the 007.

Good Q! I didn’t have a Minamo around to compare, but from my memory both dials are silvery blue or silvery white. I still prefer the lighter more silvery or white dials from GS though

With 100m this would have been the perfect watch. Easy pass without, missed opportunity

Note that the face on this watch is more silver than white. It's hard to tell from the video.

I have the Cartier Santos and yet still no manual winding Spring Drive from Grand Seiko lol so that's my answer

Splash resistant? Isn't it time Seiko learned how to put gaskets in their high end watches, or is it too expensive?

I was interested until I found out it was a 38mm case. I get that there's a market for it, but that ain't me.

On this new watch it sucks that the bracelet does not have any tyoe of adjustment option without having to add or remove links. Bracelets are the one big weakness of Grand Seiko watches.

It’s cool you can get the bracelet for the blue one, though it’s hella pricey. I like the light blue dial a lot better but would like to see them in person.

This is why i am going to take a lot of overtime 🤣

Knowing me, I'd probably put it on a strap and have the bracelet just for the summer.

That dial is absolutely stunning! Show stopper, however that case does not seem to suit it well. Something seems unmatched. Can’t exactly put my finger on it. The case takes away from the beauty of this watch.

Looks kinda big on the wrist with the bracelet. More of the watch wearing the wrist than the other way around. Much better on the strap though. Could have done with 1-2mm less.

Regarding subscribing - while this was a great video, as was your Santos vid, when I look through uploads and see only shorts it makes me hesitate. Last "long" video was 2 months ago! That said, I think shorts are a plague upon society and especially KZread so I'm biased!

Thanks for your feedback Max. I’ve been enjoying making Shorts if I’m being honest. I run an Authorized Retailer shop full time on top of making FREE videos on watches so I don’t always have the time to produce longer form content. You’ll see a lot of business owners make short form content too. Shorts have given me an opportunity to show fun or short stories that don’t require more than a minute of your time Ie - Grand Seiko’s Blue Sticker Mystery, why is the time always 10:10 , Halloween watches, Dive bezel ASMR comparisons etc. Appreciate your feedback, Shorts are here to stay and you’ll see more of it on KZread not just from me but other creators. I’m making a schedule to produce more long form videos consistently so hopefully that’s enough for you and others who feel the same to sub. ✌🏼

Ugh... I know people wanted a bracelet but why did GS need to put the busiest looking bracelet onto the SBGY007 with the most calm dial and call it a SBGY013.... please integrate in a bracelet that fits the look of the watch.

Anything smaller than a 40mm is too small for guys that are bigger than average... Lets say, 6' or bigger. I'm 6'2 and anything smaller than 40mm looks dainty, sorry. G. Seiko needs to produce a "Dress" watch that runs that 41...42mm size, imho.

Not a fan of the ugly bracelet, but the final is perfect.
