THE GRAND INQUISITOR by Fyodor Dostoevsky. Excerpt from the Brothers Karamazov.

THE GRAND INQUISITOR, except from the Brothers Karamazov.
The classic excerpt is (surprisingly) translated from the original Russian by Madame Blavatsky, the co-founder of Theosophy in the 1870s.

Great job on the voicework. I read "Brothers Karamazov" last year and enjoyed it immensely. This passage is profound in so many ways. One could spend a huge amount of time analyzing it.

The person who is speaking to Jesus is the priest who has sort of lost his trust, truthfulness, and jewel in him.

I have grown to favor using world scriptures in dramas and giving them my own interpretive expressions. Any religion that would allow blackmailing by confessions and force a denial of their own personal life, is not a true religion. It is true that disbelief is often covered by fascism.

No, most religions condemn objective immorality and shameless, degenerate behavior. Logic demands the admission and rejection of error if there is to be a true process of spiritual growth. The persistently immoral person simply is not religious in any real sense. The "personal life" is not an excuse either, and most of the time, immorality involves other persons, and affects the whole of society (which often rightly condemns it, hence why we have laws, and that's a good thing, because it protects the weak from predators).

I am sure your either didn't read my comment or understand it. Just because you feel like confession is a sacrament, it doesn't mean that the context I mentioned of shame is seen as part of favoring immorality or even amorality. @@AluminiumT6

Often peanut butter can turn into steel butterflies when undisciplined minds open up like empty hammocks!
