Maya's life is turned upside down overnight when her fiancé, Igor dies in an accident. His body is never found, but everything points to the fact that he cannot have survived. However, trouble always comes in threes. Pregnant with Oleg’s child, Maya has a miscarriage and, on top of that, loses possession of her apartment. She becomes desperate and is soon on the verge of a nervous breakdown. However, unexpectedly, and luckily, Maya manages to find a position as a governess to Tasia, the six-year-old daughter of Piotr Sokolov, a successful and influential businessman. Maya soon becomes attached to the girl and grows to love her as if she were her own daughter. It is not long before Piotr decides that he would like Maya for his wife, and when he proposes, she readily accepts. Her life seems to be getting back to normal, and she can let go of the past and move on. But one day an incredible thing happens - Igor re-appears, he is alive! Maya, almost unable to believe this unexpected turn of fate, is suddenly faced with an impossible choice: to stay with Piotr and Tasia, or to leave them for Igor. She makes a tough decision, not suspecting for one moment that clouds are gathering above her head and that she may soon be in serious danger. But the magical power of true love helps her to overcome all adversity, and Maya finally finds her long-awaited happiness.
