The Goths History & Culture (Briefly Explained)

The Gothic tribes are the Germanic tribes that have influenced a lot of pre-mediaeval western history, yet there were fewer written records of them, making their origin as well as their history and culture a bit of a mystery compared to many cultures in the past.
The most famous gothic tribes are the Visigoths, who were responsible for the sack of Rome, and the Ostrogoths, who established their kingdom in Italy. These goths are those for whom we can track their nationalities and countries.
We’ll also take a brief look at not only their migration and history but also their social structure, religions, and artworks.
We’ll answer the questions of how the goths looked like, what they were known for, and a bit of detail on their gothic language.

Thank you for the elaborate explanation and history lesson about the generic term Goth. This will be very useful in history lessons. Even if many Nazis and right-wing radicals throw themselves into it to represent their political community of interests. By the way, it's always worth waiting for a video from you. Such attention to detail and quality is almost impossible to find on KZread anymore. Even if the algorithm demands quantity instead of quality. When suggesting a topic, one idea would be the history of the Wave Gothic Festival. The biggest event in Gothic culture.

A moment of silence for the Gothic tongue... 𐌲𐌿𐍄𐌹𐍃𐌺𐌰. We are still trying to bring it back.

I like to refer to it as 𐌲𐌿𐍄𐌰𐌽𐌴 𐍂𐌰𐌶𐌳𐌰 (gutanē razda) since 'gutisks' isn’t an adjective that is even slightly close to attestation.

When reading latin you have to know the latin alphabet which is simple enough when you stop trying to apply the english great vowel shift to it, an a is an a not an ei. And then know that in classical latin the vowel diagraphs ae, oe, ... are pronounced ai, oi, ... thus foederati are foiderati.

Gothic is a classical language and thus it appears achaic when compared to medival languages but in reality it doesnt seem to have been any more conservative than other germanic languages.

This is one of the rare cases when I'm actually proud that I've lived my whole life near the Baltic Sea. Thanks to that I have at least one common thing with the "original goths".😂

With the east germanic and west baltic (and likely the even more inbetween people) the inbetween people have been wipped out and there is a great gap between baltic and germanic people.
