The Good Earth: Insights from Geology on the Design of Our Planet for Life

Ғылым және технология

Geologist Casey Luskin explains how Earth contains many intricate geological processes that are required for life and suggest intelligent design.
Dr. Luskin holds a PhD in Geology from the University of Johannesburg where he specialized in paleomagnetism and the early plate tectonic history of South Africa. His B.S. and M.S. degrees in Earth Sciences are from the University of California, San Diego, where he studied evolution extensively at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and conducted geological research at Scripps Institution for Oceanography. Luskin is Associate Director of the Center for Science and Culture at Discovery Institute.
This talk was presented at the 2022 Dallas Conference on Science and Faith in January 2022.

Awesome presentation . Reminds me of Isaiah 40, 12: “ Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or marked off the heavens with the span of his hand? Who has held the dust of the earth in a measure* (* from Hebrew- shaliysh - literal meaning: a third part -1/3 )

We can calculate the age of our first human parents (i.e Adam & Eve) from Bible. Its around 6000 years ago. However, Bible doesn't speak about the age of Earth. One more thing: The God of the Bible is not Jesus Christ, but the father of Jesus- Yahweh

  • @stephenking4170

It was designed by God the Father. It was created through the Logos, the eternal Word, who became Christ. And the creative work was done by the Holy Spirit. These roles are consistent within the trinitarian relationship of God, from creation, through revelation, salvation and redemption. All things are FROM the Father, THROUGH the WORD and BY the Holy Spirit. As for the age of the earth there are pillars of Christian faith who believe the earth was created aeons ago and those that believe it was just a few thousand years ago. We need to read God's textbook on nature before determining such things. The bible is the authority on spiritual relationship between God and man. It does not attempt to interfere in man's current understanding of science at any stage. It's just not relevant. Searching the facts of nature is a privilege given by God that we can do by investigating nature and reading God's first revelation, nature. Given that there are different views held by different leaders within Christianity it pays to be humble and not dogmatic about presumptive "facts" such as the age of the earth, which the bible does not specifically state, nor does it need to.

You say that the Earth is unique. You are looking at one star only. How do you know that there is no other Earth like planet in the trillions of other stars in the Universe? You are too intelligent not to understand that point. The Earth is unique in our solar system, but then you have a history of selectively stating 'facts' to misrepresent the truth, don't you.

Darwinists made the same speculation about the fossil record, ie that a larger sample size will point toward purely natural explanation for life on earth. Until it didn’t. Today the fossil record disproves Darwin’s speculation and supports an intelligent creator. Take all the galactic survey samples you want. In the end, if you’re honest, you’ll have to admit our earth was created by the God of the Bible.

Therefore 1. we don't have free will, 2. we don't reason but just react 3. and therefore we shouldn't trust any of our thoughts As Francis Crick said ''You,' your joys and your sorrows, your memories and your ambitions, your sense of personal identity and free will, are in fact, no more than the behaviour of a vast assembly of nerve cells and their associated molecules.' Athiest, you have a problem! Athiesm cannot explain our ability to reason. Therefore I would have no reason to believe any of your thoughts, even your thought that athiesm is true!

Also worth considering that since nature came into existence, the cause of nature cannot be nature. Quite simple logic really. Just as you will never find a square circle, you will never find a natural cause for nature.
