The conversation moves like his skating-wholly unique, disjointed, and seamless at the same time. He is one of the most versatile skaters we have, and thank goodness we have him. There is so much 80s skate video humor just oozing out of this. 😅
Mark did a demo in my hometown in the 80s and an apartment complex across the street had drained their pool day before and entire demo went and mobbed the pool, cops called and i was forever hooked on skateboarding after that day, thanks Mark.
Gonz is definitely skateboard Yoda. And he perfectly describes art
this was not an interview, this was a conversation between two legends.

Oh my Gonz, this is so killer. The man, the myth, the legend. I've waited so long for this day. Thank you Tony. Once again, the Birdman delivers. When I think about it, that's more like a stork than a hawk. Life is so confusing sometimes.
Late to the party, but this is one of the best episodes. There's no one else like him, and I doubt there ever will be. He's the embodiment of self-expression which is so pivotal to skateboarding.

The Prince "playbook" I love it...this is gold! An earthquake in NYC thats mighty bizarre....
Of course the Earth could only shake and tremble as these two people shared the same spacetime location. Two great dudes that go great together. Mark is just such a lovely human being. No artifice, no conceit, no dishonesty, no disdain for anyone or anything, just an earnest, sincere, humble soul. To see both Tony and Gonz appreciating each other's abilities and laughing like only old friends can is to know what contentment really is. You really get the feeling that hanging out with Gonz would make you feel loads better anytime or anywhere. One of the most beautiful moments was when Tony asked him what his favorite thing to do at a contest/skate event was and Gonz just guilelessly answers "I just loved being part of the scene." Somebody who just deeply enjoys and appreciates being with and around other skaters skating for the pure love and sheer fun of it. What a wonderful way to start the week.
How rare is this!!!
Only tony could lock in the Gonz for this.
blessings wood pushers - thanks for paving our way legends
The Gonz and rodney are tied for best guest ever.
This is great. I really enjoyed this.Thank you Tony. The Gonz in Savanah Slamma 1 was awesome. That launch ramp up the rail slide killed.
Such a great conversation. Gonz is like the best, surreal skateboard dream come to life. These stories and moments are priceless-thanks for sharing them.
It's mental to see how far these two guys have come.I started skating in September 1987,brought a blue Caballero Steet/Indy159s/Crossbones95a and the Transworld w/lance Mountain interview and the Thrasher with Cab on the cover in the bones sweatpants.Even back then these two were arguably the biggest names in skating, however, skating was a proper underground subculture and it was fuckin awesome, but to witness the journey Tony&Gonz have undertaken from then to now is phenomenal, they're literal cultural icons and it's a beatiful thing to see because they've fuckin earnt it,what they've both acheived is phenomenal, nice one lads.
Jeff Phillips and Mark were my inspirations for getting into skating. We were watching skate videos on VHS tape, Jeff at Mt. Trashmore and then Mark at Oceanside. We didn't really have any ramps where we lived, and I'm not too fond of heights, so I gravatated more to street skating. Oh, the part about Tony's dad telling Mark to settle down and win one of the contests, I felt the same about Mark. I think he won that contest in Oceanside so easily, after that, he became a jokester at contests, playing around and trying really hard stuff while other skaters just played it safe and won. I always wanted him to win more, too.
Gonz is so weird and so great and I love that Tony had to be NYC to get him on the show and laughs through like 90% of the interview.
