What a stunning collection and in the glass showcase surrounded by your cars and coloured boxes it looks brilliant, The whole showcase looks like it belongs in the foyer of Tamiya or a museum.👌🏆🦘🇦🇺
Hi, just watching ur video for the first time, I had a grasshopper and joined a club, this was in 1985. I was doing well but not good enough, this was before restrictions. I was 14 at the time and asked Santa for an rs540 black sprint and a tamiya racing battery, bloody hell, I was champion in that year using a grasshopper. That’s around the time the bigwigs came out, couldn’t complete with a 4wd. Great video, keep it up Phil
Great video, This brings me back, as a kid in the late 80s I remember drooling over these motors in the RC magazines, I only ever had a silver can :(
A friend put two technigolds in his clodbuster back in the 80s. That was a big deal for junior high kids.
I really miss all the old brushed motors with the fun stickers and colored cans and coms. The Brushless ones are are better, but they're less fun.
What a great video. The passion you have for vintage RC oozes from the screen. I will no doubt watch this a few times. Thanks 👍🏼
No probs Glenn. Thanks for shout out lol. Got loads bloody more i could off load 🥴🥴
while RC racing was much more popular thirty years ago i am so glad to be done with brushed motors, used to spend a small fortune on them to stay competitive in the Pro Stock class
Wow this brings back memories.... I had a Hornet, The Frog Then a Falcon, then a Traxxas TRX80??? then an RC 10... With a couple randoms mixed in... I remember my old bomb detonator looking Aristo-Craft battery charger EVERYONE used, I can hear the dial turning now! And it was all stick controls for a bit until the wheel caught on. I remember orange Novak electronic speed controller was the big $ item over those problem 3 way servo controlled control board with the resistor. So cool ... I use to but like a couple bearings at a time as I could afford them to replace my warn out plastic bushings haha
I love the RX-540VZ Technigold motor, and Tamiya already included it in the BigWig when I had it in 1988. Works very well and fast with 8.4v battery.
I came across your channel a month ago and I love your passion for tamiya history. You inspired me to re live Christmas 1989 and I bought and built a hornet and already got my eye on the hotshot. Thanks 👍
Excellent Glen!!!!!!. What a great collection. Of course for me being old I started to get very interested when you got into the eighties😃😃😃😃. Again the motors were all part of it. I remember going to my Sunday car club racing my cars with the 540 silver cans being mesmerised by the serious lads upgrades. The technigold was definitely the hot thing👍👍👍. Great memories again Glen
The tecnogold was a beast back then in my hornet. I raced a neighborhood friend with a trinity powered frog. What fun. Twister was good also.
That is awesome Glen 👍 Thanks for the trip down motor memory lane !
Wow great collection there Glenn. The boxes and instructions make the relevant motors so much more special for some reason. Love the display.
Totally agree about displaying and organizing all the gear, big part of the fun. You've convinced me to hit Ikea tomorrow for some counter top sheets and more shelves
The Monster Beetle w/ a Technigold was soooo sweet. Nice video mate
Oh wow! I had the Dynatech in my Astute, Acto-Power in my FF-01 and Super Stock RZ in my TA-04R way back. Those were the glory days of RC. Nice collection! I'm drooling right now.
Thanks for this, very intereting vid..... love the way you have showcased everything. Absolutley amazing, top work Glenn👍
OMG! Your Tamiya display is awesome. I cant wait to see more of it. Fascinating video about the motors and the way you have displayed them is magnificent. You could have somethings similar using them mini scale printed car boxes that you featured in one of your videos, displayed just like how you have displayed your motors. Anyhoo, incredibly impressed by your Tamiya collection and its wonderful to see your enthusiasm. Brilliant, BRILLIANT video!!!😉👍👍
"We got the cream of the crop here...Sorry the Cats here!" haha! Cat heard "Cream" and was at your feet in an instant!! haha! Glenn that's an amazing collection mate!! I could write a short story with everything i want to say! Amazing! Thanks Glenn! Wes, Liverpool, UK.
That is absolutely awesome, looks beautiful. Collecting brushed motors myself. Love the “staircase”, would love one for my motors.
Amazing! Thanks for sharing and bringing back good memories of my childhood.
Wow, that is one fine collection of motors dude, very nice ;) Weirdly enough, my favourite 2 are the Technigold and Sports Tuned motors. I remember paying 40 quid for a Technigold motor back in the day, and putting it in a Grasshopper. It didn't half shift! And the Sports Tuned motor was the first motor that I raced with, in a TA-04 Zexel Loctite Skyline. God I miss those days..... Great video, really enjoyed it!
Great display case, terrific lighting! I have a few vintage motors that need displaying, nice ideas using Zipo holders. We all run out of room to show it all. Very impressed with your work, keep it up! Thank you!
Good morning Glen!!! That sure is a beautiful Tamiya time line collection!!! And you sure do know how to display them beautifully!! My wife even loved how it all looks . Great job buddy!!!!
I used to love those brushed motors with the low turns. I still have the commutator cleaning sticks for them! I can't get the motor wash anymore since no one sells Trich 1,1,1 anymore. Great Video!
Jeez I remember getting a technigold for Christmas in 1984 it was a looker :-)
I finally see your super modified motor! Wow, that is gorgeous and probably the highest spec motor in the golden era!
Great collection of vintage power!! Look amazing in that display!
Great video Are you building a museum 👍😃
Thanks for another great video.
Awesome collection!!👌😍Back in the day I had a Grashopper tuned with a motor called 540 Black. Came with a red back plate. Was quite a bit faster than a regular 540. Bought a Kyosho 240 Gold at the end, adjustable rpm. It was faster again, than the 540 Black.
totally gobsmacked at that collection Glen so so cool , what you can do is pin the motor boxes to the bigwig box and if you get the long colored pin you can create a pin shelf so you wont damage the boxes with pin holes and then you have the boxes on display and you get to use that shelf , just an idea but gee thats a collection you want to have an alarm and laser sensors in that cabinet hahaha , but super cool loved the video as always hope to see more running ones when your weather gets better , cheers mate :-)))
Superb Glenn collection. Your showcase is really beautiful, the enhancement of the Kits and the engines is top notch. The more it goes, the more it looks like the toy store I went to when I was a child (80s in Paris, yes I'm French !!)
That's a excellent collection to be proud of👍 I've collected all the super sock tyre R, RR, S, T and the limited edition gun metal R type excellent video again Glenn 👍👍
Fantastic collection Glenn . Love brushed motors👍excellent video
Beauties as always...such a nostalgic video. Used to have almost all of them as a kid...and sold :((
All I can say is “Epic just look at it “ awesome Glenn
Great vid! still missing the Acto-Power Touring Special and the Formula motor but what a formidable collection. Awesome!
Ah man , I love this !
Looked great displayed and like you i love seeing my rc cars when not in use. Great channel 👍

You are a total geek. 😀 Good on ya. I love your enthusiasm, its great to hear.
Sweet collection, that display stand works really good, simple but good.
Great collection and the display is looking awesome! 👍
Love that TypeS motor!
Very cool Glenn.

Very cool, mate. Looks superb in display.
Great idea and it looks awesome. Very nice collection there my friend.
Super cool Glenn that is a hell of a collection! It’s like I’m looking at your savings account 😂
I have a vintage Technigold that has had a hard life and needs brushes. I also have a RS-540SD Black Motor Endurance. The display looks great! Very cool!

I had a endurance motor in my turbo scorpion that wasn't much better than the stock 540. However that tecnogold was great then. That was in my hornet and it flew.
Just got an Acto-Power 2WD pink motor today. Holy shit, the whistle that thing makes at full noise is awesome! Now I just gotta build the Super Astute that I bought it for. 😎
suprised no Kyosho- hv that T5- the decal is nice- on ebay now for the zippo stands, very inspirational, knew this upload was coming, glad i had a chance to get some myself
Epic collection mate
Nice Man Very Nice.
Spot on you must view ebay more than the tv for vintage stuff to buy
Display is top notch!
Most of the Tamiya like the beautiful trf, the rz, bz and tz are manufactured by sagami micro motor in Japan! So reedy, yokomo, kawada, atlas, team Orion/peak were all manufactured by sagami and parts are all interchangeable! The only exception is the trinity/epic based motor (made in Japan!) which were manufactured by tokyomech. I have over 200 motors (got a lot cheap a few years). We really took these motors for granted. Now it’s brushless (great power but lacks something) and these hackmoto made in China.
Great video!!! I enjoyed that!!
Back in the day I used to dream of owning a Tecnigold motor and be in awe of the Technipower SuperShot that a mate had.
Looks amazing
Hi Glenn. Another great, passionate video. Oh to have money and space. :-) I guess you'll put the boxes under the stand as long as there is enough space and they can't get damaged. Just be wary of light and heat and the boxes. I guess you don't have the lights on all the time. Glad you mentioned Demon. :-) I wonder if it was work that took you from Bradford to Canada.
Great collection and set up. I fell the most iconic and most Legendary of Them is missing, the classic *silver can* the first fast and qwick motor most of drove.
Collection looks awesome 😎 👍🏽 If you need to put things on the side I’d probably do the boxes (like in the back corner facing to the side) and just use the stand for the motors I wish I had the room to really display my stuff I’ve got a couple of my retired RC cars I used to race and a rare Yokomo I own sitting on a high shelf (above my head) in my room all my trophies & plaques are hidden behind some of my DVD racks (that also sit above my head) or in boxes somewhere the rest is in my basement work shop with things literally everywhere
Nice collection Glenn 🤩
What "Cool wall"? 🤣 Åsome collection Glenn 🥳
owned most of them back in the day but i just love the look of them even now
Love it! Through I worry you may open a black hole with all those magnets lined up like that. 😂
Cool :)
Great collection of motors! I've been looking for a 6V 1200 mAh 5N-1200SC 55002 for my 580XX F1 collection for a while now. They aren't that rare but finding a nice one can be tricky. The other thing that I've found to be impossible so far to find are the male and female connectors for the 6V 4000 mAh Hilux, Blazer, Bruiser battery
I'm going to go broke watching your shows cuz everything I see I look to see if I can find it I want to buy it especially the old Motors LOL
I’ve got a Parma Cyclone Modified in my BearHawk from way back in the day. I’ve recently dug it out of my dads loft after god knows how long. I didn’t know it was a ‘thing’. Goes like hell though 😂
Cool😎😎
Amazing collection there!!!! I've got a few Demon motors and early Tamiya ones.... I'm afraid to run them now..... spare parts (rotors) being very hard to get. :(
What an awesome collection. To make it truly complete, you'd need three more motors. These are the "classic" Mabuchi 540's from the early 80's. One was a silver can with the white plastic endbell, one silver can with the black plastic endbell and the famous "540 black motor" (RS-540SD) with the red plastic endbell.

The Marui Big Bear had a 480 motor and hung with the 540s just fine. Loved it. Wanted to upgrade it but never did. Most Tamiya had that 540 Mabuchi motor except the grasshopper which was a 380 if I remember. I think the javelin and bigwigs came with the tecnogold motors. Nice! All of us had fun!
I quite agree, I get the ‘shelf queen’ thing is nice to display mint condition cars, but I don’t get the whole new in box collection thing, what’s the point in collecting cars you’ll never see !?!! You may as as well just collect the boxes if that’s all you like looking at !!!

Each to their own. Id be scared to run a nib vintage personally as id almost guarantee something would break.
It's all the same motor with different package... Tamiya had a great marketing plan.
The only motor I still have from the 90's is my Tony Neisinger 14/4 makes about 40k rpm. I use to run it in my Javelin.
Looks great, used to run a Parma and many of these back in the day, be cool to add some Mike Reedy ones. they were called Dot's and came in colour grades: 6521 21x2 Ultra Silver Dot 6522 17x2 Ultra Red Dot 6523 15x2 Ultra Pink Dot 6524 19x2 Ultra Gold Dot 6525 14x2 Ultra Gold Star 6526 12x2 Ultra Blue Dot 6527 13x2 Ultra Green Dot 3522 20x4 Ultra Silver Star 3523 19x3 Ultra Brown Dot 8100 16x4 Ultra Yellow Dot
I think nobody have ever made a motor like the 02H. It is a masterpiece and I am very happy I have an original one.
watching your vid a 2nd time looking at your black series engine i think i had one called an endurance one black casing with blue backing plate ..... this takes me back now im 52 !!! i think given the running time back then with a 1200 battery this one was a bit higher RPM than the standard but didnt reduce the running time by much ..... i remember the days with 14.5 hours trickle charge zzzzzzzz
