Usually hitting the wall coincides with real life challenges. If your 100% happy at home, wife is happy, kids are doing well in school, everyone doing great in life then sitting down on a day off to build or wrench on a car becomes a relaxing enjoyable past time. If work is stressfull, wife is annoyed that you are not helping clean the house enough, kids refusing to go to school, home is a tip and arguing about even silly stuff is going on then getting up on a day off as a 48 year old man and telling everyone that im spending the day building what is essentually a toy car (I know I know, toys they are not) becomes just as stupid as it sounds. With any hobby you really have to have the life prioritys in place to fully enjoy.

So right. My wife and i have spent years converting a barn into our family home. Its hard work and takes up alot of our time. Because of this we find it hard to switch off, so when we do, maybe go out, see friends, do RCs etc theres always that nagging voice in the back of your head making you feel guilty. Its all about getting the balance right i suppose.

20 years ago by. People take advantage of you. You loose all sense of purpose cause People die all around you and there's nobody worth showing to left any more. It becomes just you impressing yourself. Then you start getting injuries and such and you fast run out of life for yourself. Community gets destroyed all around you. Suburbs becomes just business. Nothing makes any sense any more. You spend the rest of your life talking to young kids and you find yourself being disrespected 24/7. You eventually realise you've been WHIPPED by work and slave drivers and you MUST STOP getting exploited all the time.

Nice to see you again! Lol The hobby is always secondary to life. There are sometimes that I am desperate to get in my hobby room and other times I couldn’t care less about being in there. Is what it is. We all have our up and downs.

Tamiya models come with some wonderful quirks, and huge personality. From the kit to the manual, there's always something to bring an inner smile. _But who wants to hang out with Charlie Sheen every freaking day?_ We get it bro. My advice: Stick an FPV camera in something (I'm doing a pair of T3-01 trikes right now) and experience the hobby from a different angle. Even a bone stock Grasshopper with a panning servo mounted FPV camera is a wild, wild ride. But we all deserve a break - I'm lucky I came across your channel not long ago while doing a King Yellow build - and you've put up enough amazing content to keep me occupied until you get your Tamiya Mojo charged up. Or not, completely up to you, friend!

Don't force it mate, it's a hobby remember, and should be driven by enthusiasm and pleasure..... That's what makes your videos so genuine and enjoyable to watch. Sometimes it's good to step back for a bit! Also remember the huge back catalogue of content that us subscribers have to watch while nothing new is coming out.... I've been really enjoying going back and watching some of your older content again recently! I to hit a wall this morning..... Only it was a brick wall with my Porsche 959, needles to say the front of the body shell came off worse than the wall! 😂 👍 👍 👍

Ohhh i really know what u mean, a longer break is what most of us need sometimes. Glenn with shutdown back in 2020 i totally lost interest in the hobby, i didn't even watch any RC video until autumn 2023. So i hit the wall really hard. But after i started again i have built 3 cars and upgraded several in my collection.

Good to see you putting up a Video see that you are Ok. As for wanting a break from doing Tamiya/RC stuff I can completely understand. I have a mostly built Tamiya RC car sitting on my table that I just need to find the energy to fill some unused mounting holes in the body before I can put on a final coat of paint and the decals, normally I would have done it the same day as test assembling the body. So last weekend I charged up a battery back and put my Sand Scorcher in the boot and went for a drive alone the coast, which ended with me taking rc car on Irvine Beach here in Scotland in February. The weather could have been better (still it was above freezing and not actually raining) but I have to say an empty sandy beach and Tamiya Sand Scorcher is a very fun combo which put a very big smile on my face for 30 mins until the battery ran out and I made a quick retreat to my car to warm up again. I am still not feeling like finishing building the other car so I am going to box it up until I do. Still I am now looking forward to spring and trying to work out which of my other car's that normally just lives on a shelf in my home office looking good I can take out and use next. Rather than feeling guilty about buying RC stuff and not getting round to finishing building it. So maybe rather than building stuff you should maybe think about taking one of you car's out for a spin if your hand lets you. Then if you feel like it you can make a video and show us which RC you decided just to take out to have some fun and tell us how you got on.

Oh I totally relate to this. For me, I mix it up, bored with new builds? Go race. Bored of that? I do some buying and selling. Etc etc. I’d love to see you do what a lot of full scale car channels do, find stuff on marketplace, Kijiji, eBay, wheel and deal. Restore, repair etc, sell on again. Anyway, glad that you are doing well, for many of us in our small community you are one of the faces of the hobby, but I hope you can just do what makes you happy.

I don't know whether the wet miserable gloomy winter we've had here in the UK has anything to do with it, but I've not been 'feeling it' for the hobby the past couple of months either. That basic Tamiya tool kit I started with also. Great set except over time the hex drives did start to round off at the end. I started cutting the roundedntip back down the shaft to extend the life of the tools. Then I spent the money and got some MIP drivers and they have been rock solid. No rounded tips or wear at all. Now keep the Tamiya set as my on the go set since that case is perfect. Glad the hand is feeling better Glen ! Cheers !

That is a real thing for any hobby including model trains, sometimes you need a break to remind yourself why you do the hobby. Been in a (presumably bereavement fuelled) slump for a while and take no interest in any of the things I used to love doing. That's what the capitalists want you to believe. You're wrong. Subconscious minds want ORDER AND REPETITIVE things so they can memorise things. The buying frenzy doesn't lead to happiness. It leads to burnout and confusion and wasting 20 years of your life.

The problem with collectibles is sticking to the purist aspect of it can easily ruin it. Try some custom stuff, chop n change, make mad max vehicle with a bb gun or flame thrower, or try another RC type (heliwopters?). Tamiya is a bit basic. The bodys are great, the rest is a bit meh

If it makes you feel better I've spent more than 75k on tools. Gosh the toolbox was over 12k alone...empty. But having the right tool for the job is very important especially when attention to detail is a priority. Perfect feel perfect balance. Less or no damage to the fasteners. Everything has a high end. You have 30 kits to build. The right tool will pay for itself in no time at all. Just like the time you got your first JIS screwdriver for tamiya.

Glad you're on the mend. It's funny how it ebbs and flows. I thought after the TRF phase you seemed up for it again but it's funny how these things work out. I've been off tamiya for a bit but built my BBX the other month and that's got me back into it.

It’s good to take a break every now and again. It can be easy to mix up the hobbies with KZread and they have to go hand-in-hand. I have probably 10 kits. I need to build, but just don’t have the motivation right now. eventually I will find that spark and jump back in

I go through the same I can go 12-18 months and can’t be bothered. Then I get the itch and build a few out of my stash.

I was really into building scale crawler trucks but it was really expensive and the group that I was involved with only had events on a day I couldn’t go. Back in the 80’s I just goofed around with RC like a lot of folks. After a lull of a year I’m gearing up for an RC10 40th kit arriving this week
