Beautiful summarization of one of the greatest works in literature. Two small points I noticed don’t know whether I can mention those here. Firstly, Velutha is represented in the video in full suits. In the novel he is a lower caste man who wears only a mundu and never a shirt. Secondly, Estha and Rachel are meeting after 23 years when they are 31. Incidentally that is the same age their Ammu died - Not Old. Not Young, but a viable die-able age.

"Who was he, the one armed man? Who could he have been? The God of Loss? The God of Small Things? The God of Goosebumps and sudden smiles? Of sour metal smells - like steel bus rails and the bus conductor's hands from holding them?" Arguably the greatest novel of Indian English Literature. The themes of casteism, domestic violence, sexual abuse, death, loss of innocence etc are so brilliantly depicted. The language, on the other hand, is so beautiful that it feels you're stuck in Ayemenem long after putting the book down. Thank you for summarising it Sir! 🙌

    1) Velutha's father never insisted for their marriage instead he told Mammachi that he'll tear him into pieces. 2) Ammu never ran away 3) Velutha didn't 'hide' in the history house. These are the points where you were wrong😅

This is one of my favourite novel, i guess i had read it three times, there are at least three moments when my heart melts and tears starts rolling down. The climax is unpredictably inferences that whom to love, how and upto what extent.

Actually when I read the novel I didn't have the intellect to accept the love between ammu and velutha as ammu had kids and velutha isn't their father. But after reading the novel I understood Ammu's agony and cried my heart out. The author is toooooooooo deft in putting down the small small nuances of feelings and points. Hats off to Roy. I got very much enriched in knowing about feelings. The book is one of the supreme representations of casteism and the politics underneath it.

@@vikastalwar_blogs It depends on the person. The person who has experienced such traumas will know about it and the person who was born in those days. Today's generation who have not experienced such traumas won't find the real taste of it. My parents and the family were so good that I had never experienced such traumas. So you can't slam anyone for their opinion and be respectful to everyone's decision or opinions.

@@anjalijha4389 lol... Is lust a bad thing? Human beings and animals all has lust. This feeling is the reason you, me and all the living and dead person came to earth(except assisted births). Lust isnt a bad thing. The way she wrote the book, its language, the feeling of the characters are just too good. That too for a debut novel. Thats the reason she won booker. A truely deserving award.
