This was recorded at A&M Records, Studio C. I worked with Herb Albert nephew recording his album with Andy Armer the co-writer of Herb's last number one hit Rise. Those were good times in the early 80's.
This is how it was done back in the 80's...the most fun time to be young...thank you i experienced it!!! The best decade ever 80's!!! 😎😉😄🇵🇭

TRY NOT to dance with this on. You will fail every time.
Omg BEST version ever. Looked it up expecting the album version. This early raw version is so much more “Punk -Sweet- Cali- Garage (in the best way)- Get the hell out of the way, sit down, and take notes!”. Imagine hearing it this way for the first time. NICE.

You said it, Brandy! I've seen them perform this live, but I think this is the ultimate version of this song! Too bad I can't find it on Spotify. Cheers.
This band kicked so much ass. So many hits.
Jane & Margot were so cute back in the day.
The drums. One thing I love about the Gogos is they have a knack for having one little twitch here or there that is somewhat unpredictable, and it sounds good, so you listen to wait for it to hear it again. But it’s not always where you would naturally expect it. Like that little double fulgeration on the drum in this song, or that single clap in head over heels. Nice sell. 💗

Brilliant analysis. You're absolutely correct. It's what makes the difference between a good band and a great band.

Awesome version, very first before production of first album Beauty and the Beat
Pure plasma, light speed. Sweet!
Saw them at the Whiskey in 1980- slam danced in the mosh pit.

@@johnnythekid4601 Don't really know. I was just a midwestern kid on my own on one of my first trips to .L.A , where I lived much of my early adult life. Someone said at the door "there's this new girl bad playing you'll probably like". I'd never heard of them, this was a couple of years before MTV.
Versions of WGTB from this 1980 version all the way to 2020. Fun to listen to all of them to see the progression in 40 years. Give it a try. You won't regret it!
I have listened to this version 100 times because of it's raw, 'virgin' musician sound, and I LOVE Belinda, and ALL of them. One of the things in this sound that attracted me was that little random double fulguration that Gina does. Now I'm realizing that she might be the reason they made it in the first place, and it wasn't random at all. It was meant to be communication to her band. It's like she was the one they relied on to have her head on straight and when she did things like that little double fulguration, it was like her pointing, "hey, wake up, it's your turn", like a nice mom, or a conductor in an orchestra. If everyone else ended up drunk, she could be trusted to tell everyone when the change was coming,,, like... now. I love them.

They had Belinda’s mic way too low, but thank god they did. Made her have to sing hard.

Wow! I like this better than the album version!
Me gusta mucho esta versión que pareciera un demo, no tiene tanto filtro se escucha muy garagera, gracias por compartirla !!!
Kathy Valentine isn't on bass. She was instrumental (no pun) in the Go-Gos sound. This is good though, too.
I could not resist the photograph...When are women gonna pick up instruments again, instead of singing to karaoke backing tracks? I mean people over a certain age have the Go-Gos, the Runaways, Bangles. Badass women with talent! They are irresistible!

Reminds me of the album version vs. hib tone single of Radio Free Europe

Noticing how much Kathleen Hannah ( Bikini Kill ) sounds like Belinda Carlisle.
