This was recorded at A&M Records, Studio C. I worked with Herb Albert nephew recording his album with Andy Armer the co-writer of Herb's last number one hit Rise. Those were good times in the early 80's.

Omg BEST version ever. Looked it up expecting the album version. This early raw version is so much more “Punk -Sweet- Cali- Garage (in the best way)- Get the hell out of the way, sit down, and take notes!”. Imagine hearing it this way for the first time. NICE.

The drums. One thing I love about the Gogos is they have a knack for having one little twitch here or there that is somewhat unpredictable, and it sounds good, so you listen to wait for it to hear it again. But it’s not always where you would naturally expect it. Like that little double fulgeration on the drum in this song, or that single clap in head over heels. Nice sell. 💗

I have listened to this version 100 times because of it's raw, 'virgin' musician sound, and I LOVE Belinda, and ALL of them. One of the things in this sound that attracted me was that little random double fulguration that Gina does. Now I'm realizing that she might be the reason they made it in the first place, and it wasn't random at all. It was meant to be communication to her band. It's like she was the one they relied on to have her head on straight and when she did things like that little double fulguration, it was like her pointing, "hey, wake up, it's your turn", like a nice mom, or a conductor in an orchestra. If everyone else ended up drunk, she could be trusted to tell everyone when the change was coming,,, like... now. I love them.
