The GENIUS way he lights up his windows for Christmas!
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
With the holiday season around it's time to head to Dollar Tree and grab some inexpensive foam boards.
The first thing I gotta do is put all of the foam that I have up against the window. I'm going to lay it on its side or straight up. This is going to give me an idea of what I want to do. This one is a snowman. I made a silhouette with a projector and just put it across the first foam board, outlining it right around the edges. It can be something other than perfect but we want to get a good outline so it's easier to cut out.
Place some cardboard under the foam board. You can use an X-Acto Knife or any kind of razor knife to cut through. Go slowly and be careful because these knives are sharp. Cut all the way around, the edges don't have to be exact but just go ahead and cut. Make sure you get through all the way. There's nothing more frustrating than not being able to get it out so once you cut it through take little sections out at a time. This makes it a lot easier, especially around these bigger projects.
This next one is a bunny rabbit that we have that's standing up on its hind legs. I'm using a different knife on this one just to demonstrate that you don't have to stick with just the X-Acto Knife.
We cut out the whole thing right around the edges and we'll just pop that rabbit out if any edges stick just use your knife to cut it around and then just give it a pop these foam boards come across and come apart nice and easy. The next thing we've got to do is put these silhouettes right up against the window. It doesn't take much but I'm going to use some white tape, that way it doesn't show against the white background. Take the tape, and circle it up on each other. It doesn't take much for this one, I just needed two of them and I'm gonna place it in the window.
Now, something I noticed was when I put lights behind my Silhouette, the lights show through, so take some black or royal blue and paint the back side of your Silhouettes now this might look like a mess but it actually has a rhyme and a reason for it take those lights. These are 20-foot strands and place it all up in the back of the Silhouettes not too close to the edges but as you can see this is a test and it's going to look really good.
The next thing we got to do is put another layer on. I took four pieces of the foam board and put them together with white tape. Then did a cut-out of a large Christmas tree and then put it on there. Now this one doesn't stick exactly against the window but holds up a little bit because we're going to put a little bit of a shadow in there. Once we do this, we're gonna head outside and we're gonna see what it looks like with it lit up and you can see we added a little bit of blue behind the Christmas tree, and look at this, so amazing! It just lights up for everybody out on the street to see.
I hope this inspired you to build your own holiday window silhouette.

Nice but for the let it snow, he should have set the cricut to mirror the image. Any words on a window for decoration should be applied so it you can read it from the outside.
With everything are so expensive nowadays, these are excellence idea to brighten up for Christmas, not only it's unexpansive, it's also reusable and I think the children can join the joy of designing too. Great idea.

Exactly! You can make a projector using the flashlight on your cell phone so the cost is low. Lights are so inexpensive these days and use minimal electricity. We all have tape and a box cutter. Reusable, too.
I saw designs just like this for the yard on etsy. I am actually working on 2 deer, 3 trees, and an elf. Then I found your video. I never thought to put them on the inside windows. Great idea! Thanks :-)

I was definitely getting a Bob Ross vibe too!
Window silhouettes are by far my FAVORITE house decors. ❤️
That truly is a stunning exterior effect at very low cost. However, it does look messy from the interior side of the window unless completely hidden by drapery. I could not stand to give up that much sunlight during the short gloomy days of winter.

I'd have to cover the back too! Curtains hung a few inches away from the lights would allow the heat to escape. It would be a gorgeous effect if the right type of material is used, such as a heavier sheer or semi-opaque curtain. That's a great idea...thanks for sharing it! 👏🏻

This man has interior shutters that mask the mess of the back side of the silhouettes. I suppose we could try a muslin drape suspended on a tension rod?
Ok the Christmas silhouette came out better than expected; almost life-like! Amazing!
This is perfect! Great job and thanks for sharing!
It looks really good from outside. The only thing I'd mention is to be sure to use led and not bulbs as bulbs get hot (ie fire risk).
Absolutely Gorgeous 😊Thank you
2:03 “Now this might look like a mess but it actually has a rhyme and a reason for it.” Dude just described me perfectly.
Yes he has the best voice Bob Ross like .This is the best idea thank you for sharing.💕💕💕💕💕
😮 Amazing. Thanks for sharing this beautiful silhouette !
I LOVE IT. I'm not a crafty person, but you made me feel that even I can do it. Thx. 👈
Wish I had a projector!!!! This is cool!

The first 2 ideas were incredible! Thank you for this!! I just shared this video with family & close friends. ♥️ Side note: I’ve been wanting to do something to honor my sweet baby, Bruiser, that passed 3 months ago; I can add a Chihuahua silhouette to the Christmas & Halloween scenes. Even do a woman & Chihuahua silhouette for the other times a year. ♥️💔♥️💔

Hello 👋how are you doing?
Adorable!!!!!
What type of paint was used on the window to say Let It Snow?
Delightful window displays!
Love the dimension that the layers create! What a great idea.
Beautiful!!!
Great ideas. You have the perfect window for that, and the blinds behind are perfect.they contain the light. Thanks for sharing.
You’re ambidextrous! I am too. I noticed immediately. Really cool. We’re special ya know. 😎
Beautiful! I would just recommend painting anything on a drop cloth before placing it in a window. Painting it once it's in the window is an accident waiting to happen. 😬
I'm so glad I came across this video, I think it's a beautiful and inexpensive way to decorate that I'm going to try today. As far as how it looks in the inside it doesn't bother me and for those who don't like the way it looks inside then figure out a way how to cover it up! This gentleman is showing us an idea of how to do an inexpensive decoration. It doesn't mean you have to do it the exact way. Use your imagination to figure out how to change or cover up what you don't like! There are more important things in life to me.... like my husband going through chemo treatments for over a year now. Than to worry about how it looks in the inside. Thank you for sharing your inexpensive Christmas decoration ideas I truly appreciate it! Have a blessed Christmas!💖
That’s beautiful!
Wow, looks so nice. I would like to try this!
This is really cute, but I’m too lazy to go through all of that 😂. I’m more of a “put a cheap thin white plastic shower curtain over window and project atmosfx projections through it” kinda girl. They have cool moving scenes for people to watch. Set up is a breeze. One for every holiday in a variety of designs.
This is adorable!! So creative! I’ll be saving this one in my crafting videos for sure. Thanks for sharing!
Cool projects Thank you 😊
This is so beautiful! I’ll do this next Christmas, if God wills it, in my street-oriented storageroom. In my kitchen, I need the daylight.
Wow!!!! What a neat idea. I think I’ll try it this year!!
You are so talented and creative! It looks absolutely beautiful! I ❤ love it!

Well shiz, you just made me realize I can make my gothic window overlays from foam board!!! 🤯🤯🤯😄😄😄
Drove past a house one Halloween that had the face of a jack-o-lantern silhouetted on the window with an orange drape behind it and the room lit. The window was huge and it was so eye-catching! This made me think of that.
Wow just wow. Beautiful
Beautiful! I think I may try this! Thank you!
