I have been building DIY Christmas decorations for years for my personal Christmas display which was featured on ABC's "The Great Christmas Light Fight" (Season 7 episode 4) and we were fortunate enough to win! Supplies needed for one bulb:
*Note: After you have painted the bulb, use a clear coat to ensure the entire bulb is weather proof. It’s best to brush the clear coat on so you have a good layer. Do this on the socket top as well. I recommend spraying clear coat on the socket bottom.

Since publishing this video, I have created a fiberglass mold for the bulb section so I do not have to use Styrofoam. The bulbs I create now have a fiberglass top and I hope to start selling those in 2024! Also, instead of using tin for the base, I now use PVC corrugated roof panels because I think it works better. Have you ever tried to find out just how much these would cost if you tried to buy something similar in stores?

Would be even better if they actually lit up.

I thought the same thing .. will take over the attic
I clicked on this video thinking I’d be throwing these together with Dollar Tree items and some hot glue 😳 Boy am I out of my league, but you did a great job 👍😁

I agree...I guess i'll take out a second mortgage on my house to make a few bulbs lol
Am I the only one thinking of how much space is needed to store these when the season is over? 😆

And what sheet plywood alone, costs these days - never-ending the rest of the materials.

@@hallowcraft6492 yes pls🙈🙈 and can you also post it so can copy 🙄🤣 I’m sitting here thinking and wishing I was good with tools and how my husband won’t even fix the kitchen sink, how would I ever get him to make this🤦♀️🤦♀️🙄
I made a 50ft string of big c7 style lights using construction lights, big 10 inch plastic easter eggs, green paint, pipe insulation, and green plastic flower pots. I used a bucket for the plug and scrap wood for the plug. They light up, they're big enough to make a statement and best of all, they fit in a big storage container for easy storage!

Another thing to add: do not use can spray paint on Styrofoam. It will dissolve the foam.

I was thinking exactly that lmao
This is absolutely amazing! The amount of work and expert knowledge it takes to build something like this is respectable. I also love how you put lights on the tree behind you. We are those people who leave white lights on our house all year long. I just love the way it makes me feel to see white lights on a home. Excellent work!
You are incredibly talented and a true example of how a person uses geometry practically. I homeschooled my kids and told them that they might actually use geometry (when they complained about having to learn it) - we would virtually carpet a room with lots of angles using one piece of card stock “carpet.” This example would have been more fun!!
I'm a woman who loves a man who decides to decorate for the holidays That shows he's careing and kind 💞😁🧑🎄🎄🎅
I love these so much I watched it 2 times. Initially I planned to make my own. But once I watched the unveiling of the giant piece of styrofoam, I quickly realized I don’t think I would be able to afford to make these. But I definitely enjoyed watching them being made and hope maybe one day come back to this video and make my own great job. Amazing. Creativity.!

Facebook marketplace is a good place to find cheap foam!
Your creative thoughts on these with how you have constructed them is Amazing!! Your lights are beautiful❤️
Wow! He made FIVE of those suckers! I love them!
These are SPECTACULAR!!😍👏🏼🎄
Every detail! Down to the green letters
You don't mess around. GOOD JOB .
Use smooth sheet metal for the base and paint it brass color. Cut the "bulb" to the same diameter as the base and paint it bronze or copper. Paint the tip red or green and you have a giant display of a bullet for the next gun show.
Wow, these are amazing. Every year we add a new DIY item to both our Halloween and Christmas decor. This year is 5" 6" Gingerbread men but this is a huge contender for next years addition.
Excellent! These are beautiful. Thank you for taking the time to do such an indepth tutorial. 🤗
This an absolute amazing project!!!
What?! Not one bulb is actually lit? 😉 Mimics a real string of lights. Honestly beautiful work & the lit tree is gorgeous! 👏🏼
This idea is so cute and original. I would have never thought of anything like this. It would have been amazing if they actually lit up!

I'm positive someone could make giant epoxy bulbs that can fir smaller lights inside to make it light up
These are expert level. Look amazing but most people will not have this skill level. Great job
For the bulb bases you can use corrugated trash cans to use after the seasons over.
WOW!!! What an amazing idea! Love it ❤
Round circles....the best kind of circles!😄😄😄
These are incredible instructions. So precise and full of info!!!
Just imagine if you could really have a small cord to light those bulbs, how bright they would be. 🥰
Those are AWSOME!!!
Your attention to detail is admirable. I love these. Instructions were clear and measurements and supply list were easy to understand. Thanks for sharing.
You are an artist of the highest ability. You are a master carpenter and sculptor. You are fit and handsome. You are a TV presenter, host and personality. You are a man with an incredible journey and an extraordinary destiny. GOD
Wow....Great job....
Love it!!! They are perfect!! Thank you for the tutorial can’t wait to see more!!
During the day time Im sure the display looks great! Dang! That was a ton of work!... Maybe you could also create a set of bulbs that light up? 🤔
Love these ❤ Next up- a lighted version 😆
AWE man can you just come to Illinois and make me a few of these?!!!PLZ!!!!!
I thought about big Christmas bulbs but not like that that is so awesome. That was soooooo creative. You are a bad daddy jammer. You think really BIG!!
Always wanted to do something like this, but didn't even think about using the foam. That's awesome!
So awesome! We love all things oversized. You did a great job on your construction. Love the detail on the plug.

As long as you don't try to steal them, like the women who were driving around trying to steal the 12' high Halloween skeletons.
This is dedication! Truly an investment. I’m wondering if a wire frame with fabric stretched over would be easier. And for those of us who failed Geometry. 😮
All I can say is WOW…
From someone that always tried to make her own holiday decoration. This was amazing, and perfect. The detail and just basically how cool they are. So impressed, well done.
Good luck storing those after Christmas lol
Out of my comfort zone. But i love to watch. One day ill be comfident enough to try
Wow. About 1 minute in, I knew this project was beyond my capability. But I enjoyed watching and wishing! 😂
Nicely done , looks so realistic....
THATS ACTUALLY AWESOME!! And A LOT Of MONEY invested!! And YES! like someone else said… THE SPACE TO STORE THESE! But beautiful and LARGE!! Great job!!🎄
Wow! Beautiful! Mad respect!
I will never be this cool. This is so impressive!!

Detail??? It's the wrong detail. Js! 😂
This is really cool, but now cut out the center of the bulbs so you can put an actual led light in them, so when you really plug them in, they really light up, I just think that would be really cool for a night display
I’m stunned they look amazing thank you for Sharing!
I like how the plug prongs showed up without showing how they were made.
They turned out amazing!
I'd like to see a closeup demonstration of the hot wire technique because in this video it just looks like magic
I love these! Christmas bulbs are my favorite Christmas decoration.

This is incredibly. Will definitely be building these!
They look fantastic!!
Oh my goodness they are amazing! If I had half your talent I would attempt to make one. I love your video!!
Loving all the math! They look fantastic! 🎄
If we had the land to display these massive pieces, not to mention a barn to store them, I would so have my husband help me make these! I love these!! I’m going to see about doing a much smaller version of these!!
