My problem with it all is why they would accept ANYTHING from George Soros, the devils advocate. Hillsdale and Larry ARE tainted and worse, they won't admit it, and therefore... won't repent.

I watched your 12 part series on the Constitution and then this! Sign me up... I am 41 years of age and I have never heard of Hillsdale college before now, but I did hear the audible voice of God in 2011. It had to be the Living Father of Jesus Christ that led me to your wonderful KZread channel. I am honored to be able to attend your courses virtually but after 23 years serving the Air Force, I sense God has me heading down a different path to get to the next chapter in my life. May He continue to bless you but most importantly, reveal Himself to you. YHWH ELOHIM is as real as the flesh that we bare. How He and His only begotten son do what they do, is clearly technological. If we could put people on Mars then clearly, He put us here. I choose to believe He did so "For He so loved the World" and not merely for His own amusement.

Thank you for this lecture series. I am Catholic striving to engage in civil society following Catholic social teaching (CST). I ran across the Genesis series after listening to Bishop Robert Barron's Genesis lectures sponsored by Word on Fire. I've not heard of Hillsdale so I checked on Wikipedia. I was disappointed to find out the school's political profile reflecting the type of conservatism that does not value the wide array of people & cultures in our world, particularly in the U.S. I am the product of a liberal arts education (Wellesley College) & a parenting style that led me to develop a deep love of learning & curiosity in order to be at ease w/ the unknown. I am not aligned w/ any organization/individual that cloaks bigotry in religion & intellectualism. For that reason, I was not keen on listening to the Genesis lectures. However, I had to set aside my reservations about Hillsdale to give the lectures a chance. I did & learned a good deal about Genesis as genre & foundation for monotheism. Yes....a favorable reception from a liberal Catholic.

A woman does not even have her own solo until she's widowed or divorced , Num. 30:9. a woman's soul is tied to her father until she's giving in marriage and then responsibility for her soul is passed on to her husband. The word eternal means "everlasting, having no beginning and no end." From duration stretching backward without limit to duration stretching forward without limit, from eternal ages to eternal ages, God was and is forever. When Moses was commissioned by God to go to the Israelites with a message from Him, Moses wondered what he would tell them if they asked him what God’s name was. God’s reply is most revealing: “God said to Moses, ‘I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: I AM has sent me to you'" (Exodus 3:14). This signifies the real being of God, His self-existence, and that He is the Being of beings. It also describes His eternality and immutability, as well as His constancy and faithfulness in fulfilling His promises, because it includes all time, past, present, and future. The sense is, not only I am what I am at present, but I am what I have been, and I am what I shall be, and shall be what I am. God’s own words about His eternality speak to us from the pages of Scripture. Jesus Christ, God incarnate, also verified His deity and His eternality to the people of His day by declaring to them, “Before Abraham was born, I AM” (John 8:58). It is clear that Jesus was claiming to be God in flesh because the Jews, upon hearing this statement, tried to stone Him to death. To the Jews, declaring oneself to be the eternal God was blasphemy and worthy of death (Leviticus 24:16). Jesus was claiming to be eternal, just as His Father is eternal. The apostle John also declared this truth regarding the nature of Christ: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1). Jesus and His Father are one in essence, they exist sans time, and they share equally in the attribute of eternality. Romans 1:20 tells us that God’s eternal nature and His eternal power are revealed to us through His creation. All men see and understand this aspect of God’s nature by the witness of the various aspects of the created order. The sun and heavenly bodies continue in their orbits century after century. The seasons come and go in their appointed time; the trees produce leaves in spring and drop them in the fall. Year after year these things continue, and no one can stop them or alter God’s plan. All of this attests to God’s eternal power and plan for the earth. One day, He will create a new heaven and new earth and they, like Him, will continue into eternity. We who belong to Christ through faith will continue through eternity as well, sharing the eternality of our God in whose image we are created

This implies that if God is in eternity, then He is somehow stuck in this never ending timeline. However, others argue that rather than being a never ending stretch of time, eternity is in fact an existence outside of time. Scientifically, time is an inevitable byproduct of putting matter and space together in a closed system involving entropy (law of thermodynamics, B-theory of time, relativity). This concept is in perfect harmony with the understanding of eternity being a realm outside of the constraints of entropic time. Time is only measurable with the involvement of entropy, and since there is no entropy in the eternal realm, would it not make more sense that God is in reality outside of time rather than in a never ending vector of time. I realize that as humans we have a very difficult time conceptualizing an existence outside of time, and that most scriptural references explain God's eternality in terms of time references, but again that is eternity according to man's understanding. I asked what is eternity according to God's understanding. and that is why I think eternity is an existence outside of time rather than as man explains it as a never ending stretch of time. And I might add that some scriptures reflect the idea that God is indeed outside of time. in scripture we learn that all things are before God and that He sees all things from the end to the beginning simultaneously. the context of some scriptures describe eternity as a realm of existence outside of the constraints of time, associating all kinds of different time speeds and lengths to God’s realm of existence (Psalm 90:4 {1000 years=1 day, or 1000 years= night watch=4 hours}, 2 Peter 3:8, etc.) altering our perception of this concept it is easier to understand the scriptures to a more elevated and complete prospective. and this also opens up the door to more understanding and scriptural doctrines that we previously may have disregarded with our finite, man's-view of doctrine. the scary part is that it opens up the possibilities for doctrines that many would not even want to consider as even possible to be true, not because they can't be true, but because they may alter our very foundational understandings of the nature, being, and origins of God.

@Quigle- Dorf many people who don't more fully understand the nature of God would posit that as the only reality possible, in spite of the fact that it's not necessarily true. It's just the only reality they can think of, based on their interpretation of the word, but like I pointed out, if the interpretation is altered even the slightest bit, it opens us up to much more possibilities and greater understanding and knowledge than we could have been willing to have or accept otherwise. Your argument of God having no origins is the same argument atheists give about the nature of the universe, and yet your higher level of understanding would rightfully argue that their understanding is lacking. All I am doing is saying the same thing to you, in hopes of spurring you to seek a deeper and greater understanding on the subject.

We can't disregard the myths; God did not. I see it this way: Genesis 1 and a bit of 2 is God telling all the other creation myth creators how it really happened from the perspective of the King of the Universe; how things were and how they would be again. It starts with what is now a 3000 year old sentence that declared war on the powers and principalities. The seven days dismantles the twisted stories told by the spiritual forces that captivated the minds of His people. Not Jews, not some other tribe, but all His people everywhere that were held captive would be freed. This whole universe was created to learn how to be His friend. Moses wrote the challenge down, then reluctantly went to war with spiritual Bel and Nebo. Isaiah 46 tells the story on how it will be done.

Where truth abounds is resounding echoes in time. I think Genesis is the loudest for a reason. Jesus came for his own, but they rejected Him and sent Him to be Crucified. Gods perfect plan probably not, He wanted to come to His own and His big love would have extended to us the gentiles and reconciliation would work with all humanity. But now, we must look Him in the eyes on judgmentday and......each and everything that has breath will bow! He is coming for the evil doers whom are the opressors of our environment:). The stories from “older histories” are simply the distorted way of telling the real story found in Genesis. Whether they were written before it is the retelling of a mixed truth. At Babel only languages were confused not their beliefs and teachings. As time passed so the truth and Gilgamesh and others came into being. Mankind had one beginning, one progenitor and one God, even China. Look into their history and find creation and one God in their language and practice. Do not be deceived by their narrative. Follow hard after truth which is God and His Son.

The Bible itself has taken those earlier creation stories and has built on them interweaving them into the Bible. The Noah & the floor story springs to mind which was taken from the Assyrian epic of Gilgamesh. Obviously I don't mean the nation's that no one in the Middle East knew existed. We have to respect those nation's myths and legends simply because the Hebrew God ignored them so what they say is honest & to the best of their knowledge. It's never made sense to me why an omnipotent creationist God would have no interest in so many of the people's who inhabit this planet.

@Meadow505 There may not be any physical evidence, but there is plenty of logical reasoning that gives proof of the existence of a greatest higher being/mind. Hillsdale is one of the few colleges that still teach their students to think for themselves, and teach them how to question and research rather than only take what they are told as the complete and whole truth, and not to question it. Too many other colleges and universities now teach only one sided and even delusional things, and stifle students questioning what they are told.

Just thinking why ya can't get your Lit. Prof. to trim his beard : ) Maybe it ha something to do with the ancient Hebrew writings, which have ALWAYS intrigued, me from cover to cover. More-so than even the Mesopotamian clay tablets. I had to look this up, yet I'm fascinated by the words... Leviticus 21:5 Priests must not make bald spots on their heads... (tho I've got bald spots I could do without... for sure : ) The interesting words are... "nor shave off the edges of their beards". Hmmm. An interesting thought as I read The Bible. There is always something I hadn't noticed before, in The Great Book. And why does the hair on my face grow while the hairs on my head seem to disappear? : )

We like for people to do their own homework to help them grow and know what they learn. To just give a bunch of Scripture, that many have heard before gets boring, and very few look them up.
