As a kid I always thought it was kinda weird that in gears 1 act 5 was so short and always wanted to fight the brumak that chases you from Marcus's house and when I finally got to play it in the UE....I have never been so wrong in my life. That God damn T-rex on insane is literally insane I'm glad 6 year old me never got to fight it lol

I think I saw in an OXM magazine showing of the Gears PC chapters. Was awesome , but sadly cause I only had console then I didn't get them play it either until I got UE.

They changed one of the lines Baird says in the bonus chapters in Gears UE. In the PC version he says, "Brumak's gone, thankyouverymuch, and we're headed towards the powerlines... OH SHIT, IT'S BACK!!" But in the UE he says, "Brumak's gone, thankyouverymuch, and we're headed towards the powerlines...SHIIIT!" Which is a lot less funny

Amazing video, I thought I was decently versed in Gears trivia. Never knew Gears had things like a cereal, class oriented combat ideas, and a friggin Locust dragon. You think you’ll make a follow up video to this? Maybe mention things like the the OG roundhouse curbstomp, ideas or an Onyx Gaurd game, etc? There’s so many interesting things Gears has to offer

Ive heard that the reason for the grinder being removed from beast mode is because of technical issues on certain maps. strange because grinders seem to function fine even when modded in versus.

My friend also had the beta/alpha of GoW3; in it I was able to play as the Reaver! His slot was actually in the 4th tier between the Armored Kantus & Digger!

​@Andy Shrandy I mean if Star Wars Battlefront games could program you to only have certain models available in specific maps before GOW was released, I'm sure that the GOW franchise could have done that with the Reaver

i voted SAVE CARMINE. OF COURSE i DID.

The cut content of gears 3 is probably the most interesting in the whole series. The cut weapons from the novels, the ps3 build, those two whole dlc campaigns that were once going to be in the game, all the cut levels, enemies and maps. It's a shame the guy who uploaded all those videos took them down. My personal favourite was probably the dual-wielding boltok kantus.

Finally someone made an iceberg video about the game. Gears is my favorite game series!!! The palace guard sword looks sick! Honestly could have been used by the palace guards in gears 3 and work like a cleaver.

Excellent video, and very well researched! I like to think I'm fairly well versed in Gears lore and development history. There were only five I didn't know about: Ukkon's pet, Hive Mode, Gears of War in Halo Forge, Brumak ammo carrier, and the Palace Guard sword.

The og games had to of had the best glitches of any top rated games ever. The skydiving and kung fu flipping were so crazy to me as a kid

I believe that Troika Gunner wasn't used only because of bulletproof helmet. The whole selling point of this character would either be too OP by being the same an in singleplayer, or wouldnt make sense, "why its helmet is bulletproof in single, but in multi it isnt?". Great Video btw.

Totally agree, the worst thing they could do was ditch the OG characters. Even Judgement was better because it at least had some interesting lore and we all wanted a prequel to see more of the locust

Still think it's crazy that Lo Mang appeared in this - that's Li Hai Tao aka The Toad of The Five Venoms! Love him in Lion Vs Lion, Five Venoms, Invincible Shaolin & Two Champions of Shaolin - he was in a ton of other Venom and SB titles but those are my personal favourites. They wasted him in the Ip Man series.

Still kind if turned off that the locust didnt exist underground as their own entity for thousands of years. All that amazing atmosphere in ancient looking and evil infrastructure... and it all was made quickly by creatures created in a lab. Someone messed up with the writing there. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I have some lore videos on the Locust origins, hollow creatures and so on to give more clarity! But also the Locust origins was already planned in Gears 2 Act 3, with Gears 2 being arguably the best story and campaign in the series

I really do agree. It's almost too cliche to do the whole "we humans created our worst nightmare" thing. I get it, it works because it's often true, I get that. It just feels cheap at some point. The unknown is far more scary, HP Lovecraft used the unknown to great effect. An enemy you can't understand at all is terrifying. I agree too that it ruined all the ancient city vibes of the hollow

The nostalgia in the video hurts and fills my heart at the same time. Gears is and always be the best game I ever played😍

A note on the cereal. You can see boxes of cereal on the ground at the last car of the train at the end of Gears 1. I’m unsure if it appears elsewhere in the game but I thought the free pillow was cute.

Incorrect. The death of gears wasn’t because of ignoring pros, it was catering to them. How can any new players learn a game like gears before they give up? Insane comment.

Little known fact on Gears 1 multiplayer. There is a way to glitch the number of players on one team. Normally 4v4, I once joined a game where we had 5 players on one team. I actually recorded video proof of it myself but must have deleted the video for some reason.

Really interesting Gears of War Iceberg King Abz! As to my thoughts on 9:52 when The Coalition (or Microsoft?) dropped the "of War" as it did with Gears 5. To my personal opinion when the Gears 5 trailer first came out in June 2018, I was excited to see the game. But it feels weird to see the title called "Gears 5" instead of "Gears of War 5", even though somewhere between within the same year of 2018 or early 2019, they've stated that it is *still* a Gears of War franchise when the "of War" is removed. To answer the question, I find it unnecessary to drop the "of War" in the game titles or its comic and book series coming from The Coalition or Microsoft's decision. To look at the evidence in 9:35 when Rod was still in The Coalition at the time, he wanted to try to modernize the series by dropping the "of War" into just "Gears" in short. To my knowledge, it is understandable, but as I said, it feels unnecessary. But for us, Gears of War fans, calling it "Gears" for short as we may or may not want to say the full name from time to time, like Gears x (x is used as a number) for example. Or Gears 2, Gears 3, etc. But hey, that's my personal thoughts coming from the fans of Gears referring "Gears of War" name to its short term, "Gears". But I personally think they should bring back the "of War" in the next game as it may feel awkward to call it "Gears 6" (if that's the next game) in the box art or artwork related. But anyways, love the iceberg, and keep up the great work Abz! (P.S. sorry if this feels like a Short-Answer Question or one-paragraph essay when I took AP US History class due to the amount of writing we did. lol)

1 and 2 were so much of my middle and high school afternoons. Me and my best friend were obsessed. Sadly 3 came out almost right before I left for bootcamp and I missed a lot of the prime months of multi-player but I loved it

A bit of a suggestion, if you want to make vids like this, you should structure them. Alot of the topics you discuss have no real flow between them, jumping from multiplayer features, to in depth story stuff with no rhythm. You should structure these, and then make time stamps to individual sections, like, "multiplayer" "campaign" "trivia" etc.

Thank you for the suggestion, perhaps. The majority of the video was more trivia like cereal, bootleg toys, scrapped games, novels, etc. Not a lot was discussed on MP really. I decided to just go through the levels of the iceberg instead, appreciate your feedback though
