That's a tough one but I'd have to go Revis. Sure, Champ did it for longer but Revis in his prime could go toe to toe with any reciever. Maybe even better than Bailey in his prime ever could tbh.

I STILL, have this game on VHS. It was dated 10-17-99. The 1999 season was a damn good one in every way. We drafted Champ. Brad Johnson was Pro Bowler in his first season, as a Skin. Stephen Davis had 1400+ yards and 17 TDs in first year, as a starter. Westbrook and Connell had 1K yards apiece. THEN, we went to the playoffs and won a playoff game vs. Lions. SHOULDA beat the Bucs, but was heartbroken. Smh

I complemented the young rookie on his cover skills and told him that Jake Plummer had a tendency to force throws into coverage when it wasn’t there. He was listening incredibly intently as if I was one of his coaches. In fact I told him I thought he would get an interception and run it back for a touchdown! He told me walking away “ man I wish you wouldn’t have told me that”. Of course he went on to get an INT for a touchdown and two additional picks. Champ was the best!

As a Redskins fan, I loved Clinton Portis when he came to DC. But, if the Redskins had kept Bailey and still drafted Sean Taylor, could you imagine how good our defense could have been? At that time, the 'Skins could have drafted a RB or FB and could have had a great team. Wish they hadn't traded Bailey. HTTR. Congrats to Bailey on his HOF.

Makai Brown back then SNF was barely considered “primetime”. Most people just called it “the late game”. The matchups were second rate, and the 4:15 games were always better. MNF was the only real “primetime” game in this era that was supposed to be a marquee matchup every week

I respect how hard Clinton Portis played when he was traded to the Redskins. I also love listening to him now that he is part of the media here in DC but I still don't understand why the Redskins gave up Champ Bailey when it was so clear early on how special he was.

  • @ragnarlothbrok9133

Snyder gave a big contract to LaVar Arrington instead of Champ. Arrington was drafted on his watch while Bailey the year before (and before Snyder owned the team). That pissed off Champ, and he wanted out. So they got the best deal they could with Portis. Since Washington got Portis, they used their #1 pick in 2004 on Sean Taylor to help them defense.
