That family made no sense. The oldest daughter was not a doctor or a lawyer or anything "practical". Did they just not like the other girl on general principle? They should have given us more like maybe she almost burned down the house while everyone was sleeping when she was playing princess or she couldn't tell fantasy from reality. Just something, anything to give a reason why they would need to squash the girls imagination but the other girl being an artist was perfectly fine.

VA gamer Blumhouse has put out some good movies (Get Out, The Purge series, Invisible Man, Upgrade, etc.), but they’ve also put out a lot of crap. They employ the Roger Corman business model: keep the budgets low enough that basically everything is guaranteed to make money whether it’s any good or not. They also frequently partner with other production companies and sell off distribution rights, which reduces their risk while maximizing their profits. It’s smart business, but it leads to a lack of quality control and wildly inconsistent products.

The gargoyle statue disappearing tells us two things. One, the negative spirit was affected by it. Two, the effect of the statue was not strong enough to ward off this particular negative spirit. The negative spirit would not have bothered removing the gargoyle statue if it did not affect it.

Wouldn't it be a neat twist if the reason her family was unsupportive was because she had the Gallows curse as a child? Maybe in her favourite movie there's a line that's taken from the Gallows and it's her favourite, so she says it over and over. Then the parents had to sacrifice someone else to save her as a child. Then maybe the reason they insist she's 'Anna' in the flashbacks, is because then she was being possessed by Charlie? The cult could also be bent on getting her to sacrifice herself, because to them the person to do so in her place wasn't willing? Idk just spit balling ideas for a movie I'll never see 😂 Great video, btw!

A cool one could be an old west preacher come to cleanse a boom town of its hangman’s spirit due to it terrorizing the town, hanging those that do what it sees as crimes while searching for the man who killed him or something. It’s like having a medieval German executioner in a Canadian suburb, even if it’s explained it just feels off.

this kind of preemptively kills the possibility of an SCP-film adaptation of the Hanged King’s Tragedy, which is in itself a tragedy :(

  • @WinterOfMen

Im pretty sure these movies are just a no frills version of the scp The Hanged Kings Tragedy, about a play, with a hangman spirit that results in everyone watching or reading or performing the play to die or kill themselves violently

I wonder if that scp was inspired by the King in Yellow by Robert Chambers. The consistent thing in the collection of stories is a play of the same name that when read makes you susceptible to being possessed by the King in Yellow.

"Telling her to STOP PRETENDING in declaring that she is just Ana. Which again I can't imagine any parent doing to their kid" when I was little I used to sing all the time I was actually really good at it I wanted to try out for American idol or another singing reality show but my dad refused to take me because "no one is going to hire a fat ugly girl to be a popstar" When I tried drawing instead, he told me drawing is a "worthless talent that won't pay your bills" I gave up on singing and drawing because of him and now that I'm mentally strong enough try it again, my vocal cords of weakened too much due to serious health issues. But I am drawing again, and now that things like patreon exsist, it's funny to think about how wrong he was. The point is Parents will absolutely do this. It's called abuse.
