The Galatians - The Celtic Tribes of Ancient Anatolia

The term Galatians is mostly associated with the letter sent by the Apostle Paul to a group of early Christians living in Asia Minor at the turn of the first Millennium. While there have been countless books and commentaries written on the topics which Paul discussed in his Epistle, there is little discussion about the Galatians themselves. Who were they? What was their origin? In this episode, we will dive into the often neglected history of the people who lived in Ancient Galatia.

Is there any relation between Galatians and Galata tower in Istanbul?

In Turkey today, excluding the Thrace (Rumeli) region and the eastern and central Black Sea regions (I mean Kipchak, Balkan and Caucasian origin Turks), the region (city) with the highest number of blond people is yozgat. Having blonde hair is a common feature among Yozgat Turks. At the same time, Yozgat is the city with the highest rate of red-haired people in Turkey. This situation BC. It is related to the Celts who came to Anatolia in the 300s and founded the Galatia kingdom in Anatolia. The Celts managed to preserve their language for a long time. Some of them took Greek names and became Greek. In the sources, the king of Galatia is mentioned in the Battle of Manzikert. When the Turks came to Anatolia, this people is not mentioned at all. These people did not suddenly disappear. They became Muslims and became Turkish. In other words, the Celts did not disappear, they still live in Central Anatolia (especially around Yozgat and Çorum). People who have traveled all over Anatolia will understand what I'm talking about.

I'm from Central Anatolia around ancient city of Gordion. I have many cousins with full red hair, over 6 feet in height. I my self have red/blond beard, I'm over 6 feet tall and skin whiter than my Irish-Austrian gf .I sure don't look like a nomad from Central Asia. We are a mix of many DNAs but Galtian genes do still survive in all of us.

Gaelic is Brythonic not "Celtic".. Nobody used "Celtic" to describe the British Isles until the 18th century, it's a neologism that has nothing whatsoever to do w/ the ancient world. We call them the "British" (i.e., Brythonic) Isles, not the "Celtic" Isles..
