The Götheborg tallship leaving Nice
On Tuesday the 24th of April The Swedish Ship Götheborg made a spectacular departure from the harbour of Nice. Cannons fired an 8 gun salute.
She left after 8 days in Nice and set sail towards London with her new volunteers who had signed on in Nice. The ship is scheduled to arrive in London on the 19th of May. London is the last stop on this long and adventurous expedition before she will reach her home port Göteborg on Saturday the 9th of June 2007 .

And all of a sudden...Best Dad Ever!!
Fun fact. The firing of gun salutes is a very old custom which appears to have originated in the early days of sail. Ships, when on good will visits to foreign ports, discharged all their guns to seaward on arrival thus indicating to the authorities ashore that their guns were empty and their visit peaceful. It was also the custom when at sea for the saluting ship to turn and head towards the ship being saluted. This originated in the days when ships were armed with broadside guns only and by heading towards the other ship the salute could not be mistaken for an act of aggression.

It would be nuts, I can see why pirates who were successful would be happy if they won...going down at sea, probably die there..the blasts resonating in your mind and wood flying.

Royal Swedish Navy
u have no clue 2 edge flag is baron or high comander , 3 edge flag r used by kings navy only in Sweden , Norway , Denmark

Nah, in Sweden 3 is navy, 2 is specifically the Swedish East India Company who got special permission from the king. It’s a mimicry thing and a deterrent. If you see 2 tongues it’s easy to mistake it for 3 and decide to not attack the supposed war ship
i wonder... if the UK would also remake their own battleships from that age... 3 floors with cannondecks should be like.. a good thunderstorm..
