The timelines in this video seems to be way off as if the video is being laid out at linear speed. This world right now is moving at an exponential rate of speed. In 2030 we will have AGI. The rate of progress beyond that point will most likely surpass exponential speeds. I'm afraid that most people don't want reality. I'm even somewhat sympathetic with that. Reality kind of sucks. I see people turning away from everything natural and everything living in exchange for digital fantasy. It puts me in a state of deep despair. It's horribly ironic. People demanding more realism in their digital experience, while shunning that very real world. Nothing digital or artificial will ever come close to an actual walk through the woods, or actually surfing or climbing a tree, or playing with a dog or a cat. It's a real tragedy. In our attempts to avoid pain or effort, we are going to lose everything real.

First and foremost, thank you for crafting such an insightful and forward-looking video, "The Future of the World (2030 to 10,000 A.D.+): 130 Future Technologies." Your exploration into the vast potential of technology from 2030 and beyond not only captivates the imagination but also prompts crucial reflection on the trajectory of our society. As we stand on the cusp of these remarkable advancements-ranging from human-like AI and 8K VR headsets to quantum computing and the colonization of Mars-it's becoming increasingly clear that such a future is not as distant as we once thought. The velocity at which technology is evolving brings this envisioned future closer to our present, inviting us to contemplate not just the possibilities, but also the responsibilities that accompany such breakthroughs. In light of this accelerated progress, it is imperative that we, as a global community, approach these technologies with compassion, respect, and a profound understanding of their impact. Your video serves as a reminder that the time to lay the ethical and moral foundations for this future is now. As we navigate this pivotal moment in history, we must draw upon the lessons of humanity's past and present to guide us. The ethical considerations surrounding AI, for instance, require us to ponder the nature of consciousness and the rights of entities that may one day exhibit human-like intelligence. The democratization of genome sequencing prompts us to consider privacy and the implications of genetic information being widely accessible. And as we venture towards Mars and beyond, we are called to reflect on our stewardship of new worlds and the preservation of the delicate balance of life. In embracing these technologies, let us also embrace the opportunity to redefine what it means to be human in an interconnected and technologically advanced society. Let us strive to ensure that our advancements in technology are matched by advancements in our humanity-where compassion, respect, and understanding are woven into the very fabric of our future. Now is the time to engage in thoughtful dialogue, to question and to dream, to challenge and to innovate. It is within our power to shape a future that honors the depth and breadth of human experience, respecting both the individual and the collective, and extending our hands in collaboration across the threshold of time. Thank you for igniting this conversation and for reminding us of the incredible journey that lies ahead. May we all approach the future with the wisdom to use these technologies for the greater good, fostering a world that future generations will be proud to inherit. With respect and hope for the future,

For brain/computer interfaces to become mainstream they will need to get around the Neuralink style approach of puncturing the tissue surrounding the brain. That stuff is there for a reason. If you aren’t completely paralyzed the prospect of breaching this tissue, even in supposedly “perfectly clean” opperating rooms is something someone can only be optimistic about if they haven’t thought about it reasonably. Bacteria and fungi are really sneaky and the consequences of them getting in there are huge. Maybe more advanced computer and sensor technology could map and recognize individual brains to the the precision that a removable device could reliably establish communication to the same exact area each time it is worn using tightly focused EM transmission without breaching the skull. But without such developments you’re asking for a brain full of pus.

Yeah I wouldn't get too enthusiastic about brain computer interfaces just yet, one of the biggest problems is that we have got bugger all idea about how to connect to specific neural pathways and how to interpret and simulate data that the brain can directly understand, for example, the idea of turning a high def 8k image into a format that could be injected into the vision centers in the back of the brain is pure sci fi. We can't even decode the stupendous amount of data that travels the optic nerve into the brain....so injecting thoughts, concepts, memories etc. forget it, no matter what Elon Musk might lie about, it can't be done...

Good video but in some ways already out of date, particularly at the start. GPT-4 has been around for quite some time now, and the Turing Test has arguably already been beaten. And if the recent speculation about Q* is correct, blockchains are no longer secure. That means cryptocurrencies are about to become worthless. There are a number of obstacles to achieving this amazing future, not least the possiblility of another Carrington Event: We have to find a way to ensure that a solar mass ejection doesn't destroy all electronics. Then there is the problem of Luddites: Though the world will mostly adapt to new technologies as they appear, there will always be people who resist change out of fear or religious zeal. And then there are those who get their kicks from ruining other people's fun, so we're going to have to find a cure for jerks, too. If we can overcome these problems, a post-scarcity world would make the pursuit of wealth or power meaningless and pointless. The future I envisage is one where people are far too busy playing gods over their own private virtual AI worlds to care about anything else. In those worlds, people can be as benevolent or as evil to their populations as they want.

This all seems scary af to most of us right now, but consider this. If you were to go back in time (80yrs)and tell everyone you met that their children will be able to get in touch with anyone they wanted anywhere in the world, that their personal info will be accessible to almost everyone at the touch of a finger on a glass screen. They would all tell you that that world sounds scary, but yet here we are living in it daily without thought. Incremental changes are less scary than the abrupt ones.
