The Future Of The Shelby GT500?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video I give y'all a quick update on my 2022 Shelby GT500 order as well as discuss what I think the future holds for the GT500 name. There's a lot of talks that the current (S550) will be the last of the "real GT500s" and I personally just can't imagine that to be true, as I explain. What do y'all think?

With the new Federal Fleet mpg regulations Increasing to 40 by 2026. I believe the GT500 will continue until that regulation takes effect. One thing Ford has going to keep the thirsty GT500 around are the popular Mustang Mach E and F150 Lightning along with future planned EVs and Hybrids that should help reduce their Fleet mpg. Time will tell by 2024

I ordered mine pretty early and I worked with Shelby American and my dealer. My purple Dodge killer is at Shelby getting the KR widebody packages now. I probably won't get it until mid to late fall, I can wait. I think the 550 GT500 will probably run mid to late into 2023 before the 650s hit the show room floor. So you may still have a chance to get the car you ordered.🤞🏾 I'm rooting for you.

Guess I'm lucky. I ordered mine on April 8th. It's built and waiting for shipment. It's a non CFTP. I am close with the owner of the dealership. Not sure if he pulled some strings but oh well. Lol. It's gonna be a long 2 weeks or so waiting. Good luck with your order. The video that you made when you spec'd the car inspired me to call me buddy and put in my order.

If your order really is sitting in a filing cabinet and not entered into the WBDO system waiting for an allocation, that's a pretty good indication that you are not likely to get a MY22. August scheduling finishes this week and production ends on Nov 23rd. Wishing you all the luck for a MY23!

I wish you could bypass dealers with the huge markups and order at MSRP from factory! I could see buying a base GT 500 but never pay the absurdly high artificially high price (ie over $100k ) by the dealers.

Best of luck with this. I played this same game with the dealers as well and got tired of waiting. The allocation BS is silly and sadly markups rule the day and the domestics are the worst. I hope for your sake that they make a 2023 GT500.

@@TexasRevving I agree, it's a ridiculous standard they have set. We are on a wait list to order a new 2023 Bronco and luckily the dealer isn't playing games with us and there won't be any markups or allocations, but it isn't a limited number SVT vehicle either. It's getting harder and harder for me to want to spend my money with the domestics when they play games and offer crappier service.

@@TexasRevving - I just can’t see spending well over $100k for a car with a MSRP of $80-$90k! I’m not a millionaire or billionaire with a warehouse (car collection). It would end up sitting in my 2 car garage and I’d still be daily driving my 2008 Miata. Money is too important to simply throw away on cars that I actually wouldn’t drive much. I’ve discovered this truth myself having purchased second sports cars which just sit and get dusty. Luckily their value is ok based on insane market conditions which won’t last after supply chain normalization.

@@texlee1640 - I agree that’s why I’ve purchased from the other dealers like Mazda and BMW. I’ve only paid MSRP. Plus I got lucky and got my 230i coupe off the showroom floor.($39k). The fit and finish and overall look of this BMW and it’s handling make it a better buy than these overpriced marked up Mustangs! The GT 500 is very fast and looks aggressive as hell BUT I’m not going to pay that much! It’s just insane, unless you have money to burn and love these expensive toys!

I pray they do. I want to order one. Waiting on my sales guy to get back to me. Couple of dealerships out here in Los Angeles, CA act like there is going to be one for 2023. Why would Ford present 2 different GT500 models at the Ford Nationals if there wasn't going to be one for 2023?

The 23 Raptor R is basically confirmed to have the 5.2. I don't see how ford would have the capability to build both vehicles with a hand built engine at the same time.

Yeah man I made my order (non-cftp) in December, and the build date was just now scheduled. I don’t think it’s the last gt500 because the price is signaling demand and there’s really nothing concrete saying this is the end

Nothing is concrete until ford says so, and they like to wait haha. I remember I bought my 2017 GT350 thinking they would stop in 2018 (because that what the rumor mill was saying) and we know it had a a couple more years beyond that. Heck, the 2022 GT500 wasn't even confirmed until March of this year...

I placed an order for a 22 Eruption green gt500, track pack, tech pack, cf interior, no stripe or CFTP car a month ago. NO VIN yet! This dealer, a Legacy and multiple time Presidential Award winner, has sold at least three 2020+ gt500s. Ford is dropping the ball on this.

The GT500 is selling too well not to continue for 2023. It's still consistently going for over MSRP. As for the true heritage of Shelby dying off, I can see it happening, but it won't be too fast. The customer base (us) won't be happy if they do, and we'll stop buying. I could see the next GT500 being turbo, but I expect it will still be a large V8.
