The Future of Hasbro and WoTC is ALL Digital!

Ойын-сауық

Hasbro just released their latest earnings, and they were surprisingly positive, mostly due to the removal of physical inventory, reducing physical products, and expanding more and more into digital. In fact, it's painfully obvious after looking over the latest earnings that the future is digital, digital, and more digital.

Here's Warhammers view on lore: everything is canon, not everything is true. Basically, no book is written from a neutral source of truth.

Women and Sparta -- this is a much more interesting story. Spartan women were NOT treated badly, by Classical Greek era conditions. Because the men were in the army barracks until they were 35, the women had much more independence then women in, for example, Athens. They owned property and ran much of the non-military economy. They also were pretty brutal, since they economy they were running was peopled by the slaves, the Helots, who did the actual work. This relative independence of women was part of the eventual collapse of Sparta. Spartan men and women married late, as men couldn't marry until they left the army. This depressed the birth rate of Spartans. The Helots married younger, had more children, and eventually simply demographically overwhelmed the society. (This is all coming from a fascinating seminar I attended when a graduate student at Harvard in Economic History. I, sadly, can't remember the author of the paper.)

There are so many SEC rules, as well as state securities laws which control this. (I'm an attorney, by the way.)

The FTC looks into a lot of things that I think have a negative effect on the economy and competitiveness. This debt issue is one I would love to see the FTC and SEC tackle on the basis of fiduciary responsibility to the shareholders of the acquired company.

The debt issue, is one of the federal governments + federal reserves making - when you print money: Someone is going to end up with a pile of it in their hands, and when you have nothing to do with it, you lend it, or you buy shares with it. Eventually a bank ends up with deposits of cash though and - well, better get those loans going for future profits. The FTC, nor the SEC are the right places to fix the debt problem, and unfortunately the debt problem is solved with a market crash - where some companies default, other companies have to tighten the belts and do sell offs of extraneous assets, and when that is all finished you make room for competition in the market as the incumbents are unable to buy up the competition (restrained cash flow). In other words: The Fix to the debt problem, is for the government to reign in it's own spending. That also would help literally everyone that isn't in the top 5% of earners in the mid to long term.

35:30 this rate we aint gonna beat around the bush: im not a big fan of 40k but knowing the patterns in hollywood one of the big casting requirements they want is "buff and/or masculine female, preferably attracted to women, can be bisexual if in rocky/questionable relationship, only straight if it leads to them going through massive transition later in story. can be lead or side/miniscule role depending on how fast we need to build audience, any ethnic range but poc if possible." and its legit that with that casting requirement fits the custodes with how tall/big they are and screen time. from what i understand of custodes they 90% of the time only stay near the emperor with handful leaving only for specific important missions. if miniscule on screentime/limited helm removed then yeah they gonna cast women in that target range for that character even if its total like 20 secs only entire season. ppl go henry will keep it true to 40k, i mean sure but its hollywood so he needs to make compromises to possibly get s2 greenlit or other live 40k stuff made. games workshop wants more ppl to join and buy products so they gonna accept this compromise for sake of it. they will still heavily showcase the sisters of battle and other female focused faction/units but hollywood demands casting requirements as much as ppl get annoyed/mad on it.

Okay soooo In Warhammer you can make a army or faction cabal what ever all your own as long as it is within the lore as say a branch. So it is really easy to say yeah well "This happened." and work with that. And even can be brought about as the incoming change.

Non competes are generally non enforceable, but they have been upheld in a number of medical cases. Doctor X works for and is trained by and builds a patient base at hospital Y. They then leave to go work for hospital Z and take their patients with them even though they have a non compete. If the non compete allows the Doctor to work out of a certain distance from the hospital, they have been enforced by the courts.

Typically those are only good for a year and don't cross state lines. They are more commonly used and enforced in M&A to prevent the former owners of an acquired company from creating a similar product, and usually are paid for up to five years (depends on the state). E.G. Company A acquires Company B who created and sells a very specific anti-virus software product. Company A pays the owners of Company B $1M to not create or operate a business which generally competes with the anti-virus software product. If former Company B owners violate the agreement, they forfeit that $1M portion of the acquisition price.

This Chris fella saying "our success in asset-light, partner-based entertainment" - that sounded ominous alright. Though if Hasbro aren't competent in managing their physical assets - can't fault them for sitting on their accumulated IPs and letting the other professionals do their jobs.

Its the unhealthy obsession with sanitizing and modernizing everything for a "modern audience" (that in some cases is a fantasy and does not really exist) and "problematizing" everyting, thats what people find increasingly obnoxious. Not everything has to be for everyone, and this weird mindset that everything has to be for everyone is very destructive.

Agreed, in reality I have a disdain for slavery but my Lizardfolk Fighter has a rather large herd either for labor or food as the need arises. Or maybe my Yuan-Ti Wizard made a deal with a Vampire lord. The Vampire will supply minions for special tasks and in return the Wizard keeps and breeds humanoids to supply the vampires with blood to feed on and hosts for turning. Then again they BBEG could be doing this A morally grey area maybe the local Wizard has this herd of humanoids because there is a mountain entrance on his property and as long as there is sufficient food for the Vampires that lives in the mountains locally they do not venture past this property protecting the town but the time and resources necessary to create clones can't keep up with the demand so he has to supplement his herd from time to time. None of this would I support in reality but I love the Idea of exploring this in game because maybe I want to play that villain or better yet maybe I want to be the one to find a better solution or just to be offended by it and kill the offending Wizard. When you take away conflict you also take away the ability to stand up for your or your PC's beliefs.

Why is 40k lore misogynistic? Edit: I'm asking because IMO is not at all, the Imperium is a brutal, fascist, chauvinistic, and genocidal with anything non-human or that goes against the imperial truth. But inside the empire, everyone is equally "allowed" to serve and die for the Imperium, there is no discrimination on race, gender or sexual orientation at all. About the female custodians, people are going all the way to find a sentence that says "sons" and therefore it can't be female custodes which I think that is so ridiculous, I bet that those same people are the ones that are against inclusive language, but now they imply that because it says sons and not sons and daughters cant be females custodes ... the irony. I'm on a mixed bag, not because "they are changing the lore", WG changes the lore all the time, is the Why they are doing it what bothers me, and also the people that push for such changes never stop pushing. IMO this changes is not about representation it is about future profits, in the empire you already can be whatever. They already have the sisters of battle, which IMO is the most OP faction in the Imperium pound by pound, they are so strong-willed that some of them only with the power of their faith they can will their way in to immortality.

No 40k is not a misogynist setting. Its grimdark. Custodes are an all male fighting force, just like sisters of battle is an all female force. "No wahmen allowed anywhere" was never a thing in 40k. There have simply been specific military organisations that were exclusive. If you want to make a TV show and are more concerned with what genitals the characters in the show has than telling a good story then simply dont use a setting that excludes something you want to include. If Im making a show about a 13th century monastery I might haveto deal with the fact that its not a mixed sex organization. Mark usually has decent takes on things but in this case hes being a complete moron.

The Fallout TV show is only good if you like cringe acting, bad storytelling and retcons and retcons and middle fingers to the lore and history and setting reality of what the Fallout world really was in Fallout 1, 2 and New Vegas. Which this show takes a dump on. And the reason why this matters is this TV show is set in the Los Angeles area of Fallout, which was the focus of the first two games. Shady Sands was moved hundreds of miles. They retconned who dropped the bombs. They retconned the history of the world, the Enclave and the Brotherhood of Steel. Goggins is the only good actor in the show.

WRONG!!! 30:20 the Hadozee "problematic" lore was a 5e thing that came out with that book, it was NOT part of the old lore. Furthermore Warhammer lore isn't "problematic" it's just a brutal world. Amazon didn't want Sisters of Battle (another fem faction very like the Custodians) because they're religious fenatics. It's not a cutsy game that can be made safe and kid friendly in the least.
