Totally agree. ANYONE with a life - family, job, the wish to prevent their house becoming a stink-hole, will not have the time to enter contests for 24 hours over a weekend. A way of matching up a one hour commitment with others doing the same is the way to go. LIVE SCORING will transform contesting for the better.

LOL, I can't imagine sitting there for hours on end...
You don't have to be a big gun to compete in contests. I made my own quarter wave vertical for 15M around 2008. I not only came in first place for CQWW CW 100W assisted ninth district, but I had broken the record for that category. It's been broken since, but I did have that under my belt.
Looking forward to the AA0Z Inaugural Contest.
There area already contests that are 24-48 hours, but limit operation to 12-18 hours. The logical (to me) solution for modern life is sure, have a 48 hour contest over a weekend, but limit operations to 2 hours total. everybody still gets greyline or whatever, but you're not competing against people that sit for 48 hours operating.
Membership for contesting maybe. I just freed up $50 bucks a Year by dropping the ARRL. I am done with that mess. Unless they come out with modern software and do a complete revamp to a old dead and stinking way of doing things.
I don't know what you are talking about. Most contests have categories: High power, Low power, QRP, Single band, All bands, Single Op, Multi Op, Multi Op Multi TX. Just choose a category where you can win if it is your goal. You can win even if you do not operate 24 hours or 48 hours just choose a band which is not open 24 hours a day. Or just do it for fun, try to get DXCC in one contest. I participated in many contests and got several certificates for being number one in the Carribean low power all bands although I did not operate the whole length of the contest. Don't tell anyone but I got these certificates because usually I am the only one contesting in this category and region. My most cherished certificate: the one with 0 points and 4 multipliers (contacts in your DXCC do not count for points, only multipliers). I wanted to send it as a check log but decided to re-read the rules of the contest. Nowhere did it say that you have to make points so I sent it as a contest entry.
People who hate these ideas and actually take the time to send nasty letters are spending WAYYYYYYYYYY too much time in this hobby and need a look at their own life balance.

Thanks!
I honestly don't understand the attraction of contesting. Obtaining a list of call signs is just foolish to me. Instead, why not contact someone and TALK to them for a bit. Make friends or whatever?

I'm not a fan of contests either
I'm sorry for the dislike but I can't support or like anything with Kyle.
