The FUN Infiniti You've Never Heard of - One Take

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Fixed export
The Infiniti G20 was supposed to be an entry-level luxury sedan that chased the Germans but undercut their price. So why didn't anyone buy it?
Well, it was more expensive than an Acura but didn't feel like it, less exciting than a BMW, and it looked like a more conservative Jetta, which is like saying "watered-down iceberg lettuce".
But it had a chassis fit for touring car duty and with a few mods they can make for a blistering FWD carver.

    I wanted one of these so bad when they came out....but I was in high school. I did end up with a Nissan NX2000 though, which has the same drivetrain. Great car, with a ton of hatchback room in the back! It got killed by a drunk driver while it was parked. I was literally walking toward it, key in hand, and a drunk person came driving down the street and smashed it right before my eyes.

    Buddy's wife owned one of these and I remember seeing a number of G20s in the Philly metro area when they were on the market. They were beyond what I could or would want to pay for a daily driver, at the time, but I always appreciated seeing the G20 on the street. Fun to see the old 90s FWD models on the street and in-use! Never doubt the joy to be found in these lighter weight, high revving examples.

    We need to bring back the Japanese engineers from the 90's..... They knew how to build good chassis, and they actually cared about building something good. They used to take pride in their work and creations...... Nowadays? It's all cold and corporate. If it doesn't make good profit margin, they won't bother.

  • @firstwordcar

    @firstwordcar

    enigmaPL I sympathize with you but infortunately the engineers haven’t changed. They still know how to make the cars you seek and want to. What’s changed is the people who buy cars. The general market wants a car that further disconnects them from the driving experience. In other words, the car enthusiast is an increasingly shrinking group, and the mass of buyers for cars lean towards automation. Sad reality.

    That type of thinking is unfortunately what drove Nissan into the ground and turned it into what it is now. They bankrupted themselves and as a result the only good that's come from them in the past 20 years are the Zs, and the GTR. And those haven't been updated in years! Not to mention the frontier hasn't been updated since 2005. Nissan is a laughing stock of a company while Honda and Toyota kicks its ass in sales and Mazda overtaking it. But atleast they still make sports cars lol so something hasn't changed.

    Can’t believe you don’t know about these. A friend of mine had one and even in stock form with the 5 speed it was a hoot to drive. The engines, especially the first gen from the early nineties are bulletproof, well as much as a 25 year old engine can be. Sweet handling, revvy, slick shifter, relatively comfortable, easy to mod with forced induction options, really a great classic car.

    As all Infinitus were until they started getting unique models. The thing with America (for example) is that, for whatever reason, brands aren't allowed to step outside their perceived bounds without immense derision from the public. So if you make nice things, you're not allowed to make less nice things; and if you make "cheap" things then you're DEFINITELY not allowed to try making anything of higher quality. Which is why brands like Infinitu, Acura and Lexus exist at all. Because otherwise the respective rebranded/retouched models are cars that are generally just as nice while still being Nissan, Honda or Toyota in Japan or other parts of the world. It's really pretty shitty and shameful.

    This is an N15 Pulsar in Australia and Primera in the UK. The Nissan U13 Bluebird shared the same driveline as the Pulsar GTiR (SR20DET + AWD) and was a common conversion here in Aus for the N15 as it all basically bolts right in except for the AWD stuff in the rear which takes a bit of work to do

  • @spykegti1718

    @spykegti1718

    5 жыл бұрын

    Most of what you have said here is wrong. The N15 Pulsar is a different car completely. In the UK an N15 is an Almera and shares most of the same components as a B14 Sentra in the USA. This G20t is called a Primera everywhere else including Aus and is the chassis code P10, iit shares hardly any components with the N15 as it was produced before it. The Pulsar GTi-R is an N14 and the engine conversion into an N15 is quite common however not exactly bolt in as converting that engine to FWD is quite involved.

    Yeah cuz when they came out they were a good bit more expensive than the integra (as years went on they eventually both evened out to about 20k msrp for the g20 and the integra) infiniti was still a baby company and trying to seperate from nissan, and honestly the integra just looks better inside and out plus Honda in the 90's was untouchable for FWD tuners and aftermarket parts. So of course the g20 failed hard which means less models produced which is why its so hard to find any today. They made them for about 10 years and there is only 1 for sale in 100 miles of me and I live in Tampa Fl where you can find 15 240sx's for sale, FD Rx7's, etc.

    The legendary Nissan Primera. I think the change in engine noise is the change from the long intake runners to the short high rpm intake runners, most people think the change in engine noise is VTEC kicking in but it is the change in intake runners

    Why the re upload

  • @TheSmokingTire

    @TheSmokingTire

    5 жыл бұрын

    The reason for the reupload was an export error in the first video. I didn't discover till someone messaged me on IG. Rather than have a video up where - at the 9:40 mark- the steering wheel is going the opposite direction of the car, and all the friendly comments that would have brought about, I pulled the video down and re-exported it. Sorry for the confusion! ZK
