1995 Nissan 200SX, Turbo SR20 - One Take

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This 1995 Nissan 200SX is a heavily modified example that sees lots of track time around southern California. On Buttonwillow and Streets of Willow Springs, it runs lap times comparable to well-driven Cayman S's, Corvettes, and M3's. It features an intercooled, turbocharged SR20 engine making close to 300 wheel horsepower, a dialed in suspension, and a host of small adjustments to make this an incredibly fast little front-driver.

My second car and first love was a 200sx SE-R. In high school I always fantasized about turboing it. It was a great car for a teenager, and it was cool simply because it wasn't a Civic.

So many people arguing about the name, who cares! Rad dude and a rad little car, bending the rear beam is something you don't hear of very often, usually reserved for real motorsport-y applications. Good to see the community banding together to help him when all his stuff went missing, that would be soul crushing - seems he has had quite the journey with this car.

I Have a 200SX 1.6. I bought it new in 94 and still have it. I have been working on it for years. Its been totaled twice yet with all the body work I did no one can tell. I put a wide body kit on it that looks killer and added bigger tires and wheels and custom exhaust. I wanna make it rear wheel drive with a twin turbo engine. Only dreams at this point. Maybe one day I can afford to do it. Thank you for the video. There hard to find for this car. You have made my dream even that more reachable!

To all the uninformed, this is a B14 Sentra/200sx/lucino/pulsar chassis. Yes, the USA received the 2 door variation as the 200sx with either the GA16 or the SER version with the high port SR20DE. This brought back memories. No offense to the owner, but this is a fair example of a 200sx build state side. Nothing special here. Matt has no idea what sleepers these can be built into, however it is a good thing he didn’t have to deal with a 500hp fwd SR20 and the poltergeist like torque steer they can produce. Let’s hope these stay hidden and the internet idiots just laugh and walk away. This cat looks to be running stock boost. A pulsar GTiR T28 turbo and larger injectors would easily put down low to mid 300s @ 1 bar of boost and get this car into 12 second 1/4 mike territory.

TopDeadCenter sounds interesting. Are you running cams? If not, time for some JWT S4s and do the Harley shake. My first car was a 93 NX2000 that I modified past the point of comfort for auto crossing. It had the high compression JDM highport with the hotshot gen 6 and a full 3 inch. No cams but full bolt ons with most of the focus on suspension. Street legal go kart. This was back over ten years ago. I still have a soft spot for these cars and the SR, however I went full race car with a Datsun 510.

Yessssss. The se-r models come with an sr20de (naturally aspirated) that can easily get a turbo slapped on to it with no issues. Can also get an sr20ve in it with Nissan's VVL system (like Vtec except intake and exhaust would switch over independently) and you have a fun little car for autocross or road course usage. If you want to go the big boy route, a VQ35DE swap is available now. Once the rear beam is bent to 0° toe it becomes an incredibly well planted and balanced platform for track usage.

Miss my '98 SE-R which was totaled. It was an auto, but I still loved it anyway since it was my first newer car. Funny story is that it was actually totalled on the day I bought another car, a 2001 Sentra SE with performance package (16" wheels, LSD, spoiler, etc) and both cars were in the same accident. Guy in a chevy truck wasn't paying attention and slammed into my brother in the 200SX, and pushed him into me in the Sentra. I had only had the car for ~15 minutes. SE-R was totalled (no trunk left) and the SE was repaired to like new. That SE was my favorite car and I miss it just as much as the SE-R. And Matt needs to drive one of these early Nissan's (B13, B14 or even an NX2000) with a good SR20VE setup. I bet he'd get a kick out of it.

Mine exchanged hands through the family a few times. Even my mom drove it for a year or so. Then after it went back to my brother he sold it. I just picked up a '17 Elantra Sport 6MT and it really reminds me of the B15 in many ways. I put that B15 through hell and back at track days, autrocross meets and weekly canyon runs. Never gave me any fuss.

Do people not know this car was called a 200sx in the us and Canada? Also, in some places the 240sx were called 200sx. It's confusing, Nissan has always been bad with names.

In the United States it is known as the Nissan 200SX SE/SE-R and theres also the Nissan Sentra which is basically the same thing and the only thing that changes is that the Sentra is a sedan and the 200SX a coupe

Forget the name of the car! What I want to know is how is he passing the California smog inspection? Does he re-install all the stock components every 2 years or does he know a guy? I have a slow AF bk1 Genesis 2.0T with intake, exhaust, and a tune and failed at the visual inspection so, I want to know if my only option is to back to stock or what?

I own the JDM grocery getting 4 door equivalent called the Sunny with the lowly but reliable GA15DE. Not the best rear suspension setup compared to its predecessor but still an underrated and overlooked car with great potential. In Japan and other regions it's called the Sunny or Lucino and shares the same mechanical components as the N15 Pulsar or UKDM Almera. The USDM model is the Sentra and the coupe took the 200SX name mostly due to engine displacement and marketing. In Japan the 240SX is actually 200SX or 180SX (SR20DET,CA18DET). USDM models only got KA24DE hence the 240 name. It's confusing to the uniformed. Very popular model in Mexico, the Philippines and the Caribbean.
