The Fujifilm X-Pro1 in 2023 - Street Photography
Фильм және анимация
I started the year using a new, old camera and the journey it took me on was not one I was expecting but reminded me of what I love about the magic of photography.
Street photography images shot on the original X-Pro1. All film footage was captured on XT3. All images are edited in Adobe Lightroom CC.

I really enjoyed putting this video together... Something I didn't mention was what lenses I used. I mainly shot with my Fuji 18-55, but some shots I used my Fuji 50mm and a 7artisans 25mm ✌️

I love my 18-55!!!
Still my favorite camera. I bought the xpro2 when it came out and sold it only a few months later and went right back to my xpro1. I didn’t like the sensor and the Xpro2 as much as in the 1. it’s such amazing camera. It’s perfect for everything I do.
Yeah. I want to buy one.
I bought the XPro 1 in 2012 when it first came out. It is still my favourite camera today. I think you hit the nail on the head. It gets you back basics. I started photography in 1972 with a Russian Zorki, and progressed to a Camera AE1 in '77. The Xpro takes me back to these days of getting your film or slides back in the post and reliving the magic moments captured.

@@LifeWorkDreams Sadly, that was a very long time ago as I’m now 64. However, before my father passed away in 2012 he bought me an old Zorki 4 for Christmas and I’ve yet to put a film in it. I will get some any give it a go.
Different cameras different stories- spice of life. Great observations.
Still have mine, love it ! And I use it exclusively in B&W. I think that's where it really shines.

Great video and pics as always! Love your style, your honest thoughts. And I love my x-pro1. With all it's limitations. But they doesn't matter. Because this camera has character and charme. A camera for the heart.

One of the best videos of the "soul" of the Fujifilm xpro series. You really moved me. Thank you. Greetings from Italy. Ciao. Flavio (X-T3 user)
There's something special about your videos that I obviously love. Maybe because they're about more than gears and photography (I still adore my X-Pro1 btw). They resonate deeper, inspire me every time and definitely make sense so thank you!

I think you bring up a good point. I already knew, going into a walk in the city that my camera was NOT the latest and greatest. And I think knowing that led me to not care about being perfect. That freed my mind to just be in the moment and just shoot what caught my eye. My xpro1 is my street camera and its a workhorse. I use a 27mm pancake lens for it
Nice street shots👍
Photography truly is a philosophy of self gratification; the "if you like the shot it doesn't matter what camera it's taken with" quote really rings true. My xpro1 has been more an outlet for me of my "inner" art rather than my wedding work or portrait work. I find a kinship with the camera, it's old but rugged, imperfect but mythical. Flawed, yet intrinsically soulful. Loved the video, thank you

I really like the image at 3:51, I’m reminded how much I loved my X-Pro1. The XF 35 f/1.4 / X-Pro1 combo helped me capture some of my favorite images. To this day I’m annoyed at the camera industry’s constant marketing to upgrade and websites like DPReview who tell users that without IBIS, eye-tracking or video features you’ll never use, your camera belongs in the dustbin of history. It’s utter nonsense.

I disagree. DPReview does exactly that. It tells us the features and capabilities of a camera. They don’t tell us to trash the gear we own. They don’t tell us to rush out to the store and purchase the new gear that was just reviewed. The technology advances. It is our job to decide when enough is enough. When good enough is good enough. We decide whether to purchase the newest gear. DPReview simply appraises us of the capacity of the new gear. They don’t appraise us of our capacity to most efficiently use the new gear. They don’t tell us to abandon our current gear. That is our decision. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)

The xpro1 is all about the sensor vs image processor. The older ones are good! Loved my XT1 lots (and bought a NIB graphite recently😊). Have the xpro 2 (in black and GSE) and X-H1 too. Thinking about getting a Xpro3.

Would like to get a hold of an X-Pro1 someday. I have an X-T10, love shooting with that camera. Also have a 5D Classic, really love shooting with that. Have a newer Sony mirrorless with more bells and whistles, yet I use it the least. Something about the older sensors that make them produce more pleasing images.

Yes Yes Yes. I agree with your sentiment's exactly. I've held one to mine and am my xproi and am using my xpro 3 I bought as a retirement camera. But still go back to the Xpro1 as it has the art of making me slow down and enjoy the seconds out of the hour I feel pleased with the results of our partnership.

Hey JR! Well I'm very happy to hear you found the channel! And thanks so much... In this video I edited in post with light room, I do have another video where I looked at shooting Fuji jpeg recipes ✌️
Some real lovely captures there. I’m still shooting this camera. It’s an amazing workhorse. The camera for me, really shines when you pair it with older vintage lenses. The sensor really works well with my Voigtlander Nokton 35 1.4 or Canon 50 1.4 on an LTM Mount. The newer lenses, while amazing, I think don’t do justice to the rendering the sensor can deliver. So much so I now only own the 18mm f2 which I love, and I use the camera with my Leica M9 and adapting those lenses also. It makes for a compact and capable system that fun and a joy to use. So much so, I’m shooting a Northern Soul event tonight at King Georges Hall in Blackburn.

@@LifeWorkDreams just started to post a few from last night @derrenleepoole - also used the Sony DSC-W50 digicam as a make shift hand held fill flash! The venue was very very dark last night so had to improvise!
This camera in my mind is a legitimate replacement for my Leica M3 double stroke. The 18-55mm lens isn't as sharp as the Summicron50mm but it it is a very good match for the 16MB sensor. The higher priced FujiFilm lenses need larger sensors to be useful. It is solid & durable despite my dropping it onto the pavement and dinging some corners. The battery clip inside broke but the trap door keeps things in place. As you have mentioned, the only real bug is that it is really slow. I have turned off the chimping feature and use back focusing despite the unfriendly button placement and it really helps the whole procedure. Really well thought out and considered review. thank you.

Ah this is fantastic! thanks so much for sharing, and yeah i love my 18-55 i should really do video about it soon
Indeed the best camera is the one you use often. All of my expensive gear just sits in a bunch of Pelican waterproof cases when not in use; while my Canon G9X PowerShot Point-and-shoot camera always sits on my coffee table. Because of that, I've taken many pictures of my shihtzu dog with it whenever I catch him doing funny stuff (or him just sleeping) - because the camera is right there. He passed away 3 weeks ago at the age of 16 years, and I cherish every single photo I've taken of him with the G9X. I'll be sending a bunch of those photos in so I can get large prints.
maybe not everyone feels the same but for me which has the same that magical 16 mp sensor it is soo relatable, everything you said its about what im feeling too

The camera will slow you down because of the technology in the camera. The autofocus is slow. When it locks on all is well. It isn’t as fast or accurate as the current Sony or even Fuji bodies. The write time can be slow too. You know this going into the game. You can choose to frame these deficiencies as slowing you down. Some people work with these deficiencies and others don’t. The XPRO1 doesn’t have Acros. I like the B&W film sim with the red filter. I also underexpose by 1-2/3 of a stop. Mak On Nurse Marty(Ret)

hey i used a combo of the 50mmf2 and then the 18-55mm
Those who have it in them to be a photographer, usually do not care much about all these unnecessary gizmos inside the new cameras. They want a basic tool that functions the way they wanted it to. This is the main reason why old cameras, even digital are making a comeback. Just detach yourself for one moment from all the hype surrounding zillion MP cameras with two dozen auto detect focus modes, 60 frames persecond burst modes, video this, video that, and start looking at what is really important, and most of the new offerings from the Japanese companies become instantly laughable. Slow is good, because it slows the photographer down and allows the process of thought to take place. A hard act with any digital camera, but atleast with the older technoogy the photographer has a chance of being a photographer. Lovely shot of the man at teh Casino door.
I’d love to have this but my only issue is it’s not weather sealed (I pove shooting in wet weather btw)
