They said at blizzcon that they weren't going to remake them, these are the exact same cinematics, only when they were originally released they couldn't show them in full quality

Back when the bad guys could win in an expansion. This was some of the best storytelling Blizzard ever achieved. Now look where we are.

Wrath was the best xpac for pve, but as a pvp player, the game got better in Cataclysm and MoP. WoD was dogshit all around. Legion was just as good as Wrath for PvE, but pvp in both xpacs are unbalanced dogshit. BFA has been pretty decent for me, it doesn't deserve all the hate.

The fact that after donning the helm, he didn't go on a rampage, instead sitting on the throne, victorious, isolated and alone, completely in control without any frills and yet a slave at the same time, is what makes this scene unique.

It's the culmination of a dark materialist story; someone who was so obsessed with the image of kingship that he'd be happy to be the figurehead of a dead kingdom and, eventually, the unthinking vessel of the ultimate king. A trophy of a prince-that-was-promised on Ner'zhul's mantlepiece. We watch Arthas completely annihilate what it means to be himself and know that, despite the horror of that, this is what he wants now. It is beautiful, its resonant, its dark, its byronically heroic. It's the best story that Warcraft ever told. It's also where Warcraft stopped trying afterwards.

Today, the corpse of Blizz is being puppeted around by Bobby the goblin and their shareholders. That's another tragic fall, i guess.

the fact that THIS is actually the first thing I saw when I first launched the game... it blows my mind. I thought okay, it's some cool spire, probably in Norhrend, i guess we'll return there at some point. Then, after this cinematic, the cycle was complete, the menu popped on its chains, and I was just speechless, with tears in my eyes. I didn't know yet there wasn't going to be Warcraft IV... They did a good thing with WoW, but for me, it's an open ended story forever, well, frozen in this moment

My thoughts back then were very similar as well, it just seemed that after this ending, without showing any more carnage or more missions it left to guessing that the world of azeroth was doomed, an open ending that back then seemed like we just doomed the world we played in all along

As a kid I really wished for Warcraft IV, but now I'm not so sure. If there was a very talented team then yeah I'd be hyped af, but not with modern blizzard. I'd much rather have them leave my childhood game alone.

Reminds me of back when Blizzard still existed. Activision-Blizzard has nothing to do with the Blizzard that made the original Warcraft 3 besides part of the name - the entirety of the crew that worked on that game and the others that made Blizz who they were have crumbled away over the years, with the last few big names that mattered going away in the last few years.

I never understood how the spire seemed to be inside of a closed space but then it wasn't and there were any signs all around that he made the place collapse. I also never understood why it seems like there's water surrounding the glacier (which it's what it's supposed to be) but a whole ass citadel was built all around it in WoW

You saw that the inside was crumbling if you take a closer look. It was inside, but it collapsed. The water, though, I have no clue.

I mean, as he is putting on the helmet you can clearly see the outer part collapsing, very clearly. As for water? I mean all of Icecrown is one big glacier, even in WoW. And the LK can control ice so he just freezes more of it to then build on? I don't think its really a plot hole

@@CaolanlikesPIE What I meant is that I knew it collapsed but there wasn't anything around showing the effects of the huge ass cave collapsing, and there's literally no water inside Icecrown, specially the part in which the citadel was built. I get that he could've frozen the water but I doesn't look like ice at all in wow. Not a complain, just an interesting and weird detail

@@CaolanlikesPIE But a glacier is the build up of snow over hundred of years between mountains. The glacier will grind out a valley, as well as firm a compact layer of ice. So, the best explanation would be... He had the Frozen Throne moved.

I always enjoyed this cinematic. There he sits, on his throne at the edge of the world, a bitter parody of himself, a king of ice and ruins ruling over a vast nothingness. I guess you did it, Arthas.

There are SO MANY awesome details in the final scene of W3: Arthas is posed in the classic pose of Conan the Barbarian when he is king, but unlike Conan Arthas is a slave The color blue that is usually associated with good turns into a cold, souless being The fact that one of the VILLIANS in the story wins at the end The sad, melancholic opera that tells us this was not meant to be The image of a king, sitting in his throne... alone How the ice is already forming on him, and he is unmuting, uncaring about it

Was he a slave? Arthas’ soul was held by the Lich King, who was now him. It’s still ironically tragic, because he now finally fulfilled what he said he would do at the end of the Scourge of Lordaeron: he succeeded his father and became king.

I will never forgive Blizzard for taking one of the most epic helmets and changing it to an uncommon item.

And the greatest legend is born, so as he did so many years ago, with 1% of difference between the graphics

I’m old and played this back in the day. Arthus was crazy as hell lol.

I'm impressed you actually made it to the end to record this. Can't freaking boot up any mission.

To the folks saying they didn't update it, they actually did. Quality's certainly better and I think they redid the lighting.

Maybe it is good that they did nothing with these cinematic's.... After all, they still look good

This is what I imagined Jon Snow to do after he was exiled to the North. He finally takes the ice throne and probably marries a reanimated Ygritte. And has like an army of ice spiders.

Thank you Sylvanas for making an expansion by whooping Bolvar arse 3 minutes.

About "Complete the circle...", sounds very same like Teron Gorefiend, in Black Temple he says the same. And the Frozen Throne is exactly in the middle of the Ziggurat tower style thing. So and the Iceblock with the Crown of the LichKing (Helm of Domination) it looks very much like a Spirit Tower of Undead. p.s. I played W3 first time in 2004, but I just realized the Soundtrack at the end of this cinematic is the same as in the World of Warcraft - WOTLK.

N'Zoth mentions completing the circle right after the Carapace fight in BFA... Il'gynoth means a long circle being almost complete during Legion before engaging him. Whatever the circle is might find some closure in the Shadowlands?

A problem I noticed about this Reforged cinematic is that every bit of sound and noise has been enhanced and volume increased, which unfortunately drowns out the singing and part of the music, a little let down there

and after he became the lichking his first degree to the mindless undead was too BUILD A GIANTIC CASTLE made of Saronite and wait until WotLK expansion came out......

Well Arthas got what he wished, defeated any threat to his kingdom (by destroying it lmao), after he did that it was already too late, mindwashing by LK too stronk so he didn't have a choice really, and as for the waiting he did wage war with the Nerubians iirc between throne and wrath and he also had to "unite" the entire continent iirc so yeah there's that
