That the dogs are so relaxed, laying there a few feet away from being schmooshed to death shows how deliberate and careful the elephants have always been in their movements. If the dogs were stepped on even once they wouldn't behave like this and it proves how remarkable, how intelligent and tolerant elephants are when given a chance to be. Don't forget to give a small donation to the elephants in this crazy time; they have been and remain in desperate need.

No so sure about the reason. For an animal the size of an elephant, a single trip can be fatal. While an elephant treading on a dog would clearly by bad for the dog, it could also prove serious for the elephant. I suspect elephants are just generally careful about where they put their feet.

Even though stepping on and killing a mouse would have no affect on the elephant, it still moves away from the mouse to avoid doing so. They also hold funerals for their own dead. Some humans have a big ego and assume that other animals are emotionless just because they're not as intelligent. That's not true

Elephants are sure-footed creatures. They never step on their tiny babies. I believe they're also loving, caring and compassionate. They love those dogs as friends and companions. 💕

They're not exactly snuggling up together, but they do have a mutual respect. I bet both the dogs and the elephants see their role as "looking after" the other

It’s wonderful to know people actually really care about our wild animals . These animals have every right to share this planet and more so than us humans.

♥ I volunteered for a week at Elephant Nature Park in 2015. It was as much fun watching the dogs as it was the elephants. There was one old brown dog there named Memphis who absolutely loved everyone and everything. I didn't see him in this video. He was adorable. A lot of people don't realize that ENP also rescues dogs and has a large kennel run. The place is wonderful and Lek Challert (who founded ENP) is one amazing lady. ENP is my Disneyland. ♥

The caretakers of the elephants have their dogs with them during the day, so they go where their caretaker and herd goes. :) See the video description.

I love the way the elephant's eyes soften as the dog walks by. Elephants do have a concept of cuteness as far as science can tell. I wonder if elephants boop dogs on the nose with their trunks?

I love elephants and dogs, probably my favorite animals. Such a shame what has been done to elephants, their territory dwindling, hunted for trophies. They are so intelligent, social and caring of each other. I recommend watching 'Echo of the Elephants' which was originally aired on PBS. A dog and elephant farm...what great idea. Wish I could quit my job and open my own. "Don's dog and elephant farm" bring your own beer and peanuts and watch your step!

I have seen so many videos in which humans are so afraid of the reaction of elephants, sometimes with reason, but dogs, with their natural innocence seem not to care, they just move when an elephant comes, but without any fear! I love when different species live together as trully friends!!
