    Jason goes to Hell actually was supposed to tie Jason to Evil Dead. Originally it was supposed to be the Pamela Voorhees used the Necronomicon to bring Jason back as a dead deadite, and even the dagger that kills him at the end was meant to be the Kandairian Dagger from Evil Dead, but they couldn't get the rights to do the tie in stuff, so now it's just an Easter Egg.

  • @lutherheggs451

    @lutherheggs451

    7 ай бұрын

    No it wasn't...That was never an idea until that stupid awful comic came out.....That was NOT meant to be anything more than an easter egg for evil dead fans in Jason goes to hell, because the director knew sam raimi. They literally say it in Crystal Lake Memories, he thought they looked cool, he knew Sam Raimi so he asked him IF he could put them in the movie as an easter egg. There was NEVER meant to be anything about Jason being a deadite, nothing about the necronomicon, they were just mean to be "cool" easter eggs.

  • @vicdhark7005

    @@lutherheggs451 Literally a quote from Adam Marcus to Syfy Wire in 2018 "When we were pre-producing the movie, Bob Kurtzman and the guys at KNB said we're gonna do the effects on the movie. So I got to go on Sam Raimi's set for Army of Darkness. I asked Bob if Sam would lend me the Necronomicon for Jason Goes To Hell. I let Bob in on my secret plan and knew I couldn't say Deadite or Evil Dead in the movie because Universal owned the rights. If I just take that prop and put it in the Voorhees house, and use the Kandarian dagger as the thing that kills Jason, what I'm doing is setting up a mythology that Jason's mom wanted her so back so badly that she made a deal with the darkness. So she reads from the Necronomicon and brings about the resurrection of her son, so now the fact he lived at the bottom of the lake and grows two feet makes sense."

But they give us the credit where they assume we're capable enough to do that on our own if we want to. We're not 12 year olds who need to be moved by a Call To Action™. People will like if they like it. People will subscribe if they want more. Etc. And RLM leaving that to us, instead of telling us to do it, feels, to me, like respect for their audience. It's a very low bar, yet somehow they're one of the very few channels who clear it.

    I love that two people from Friday the 13th: A New Beginning are in return of the Living Dead, both which came out in 1985. The black guy who gets killed in the crapper after singing with his girlfriend played Spider in Return of the Living Dead. The guy at the beginning of A New Beginning who kills the other guy with the axe played Suicide in Return of the Living Dead.

    Jason X would've been seriously funny if science is so advanced that the crew members can't die and you just go all out with this concept by having the main characters not really... seeing him as a mild annoyance. The only thing annoying them is they can't seem to catch him because he's magic and everyone in space doesn't believe in that anymore. Also make the passengers even more loose since it's the far future.

    Jason on a boat does sound like a fantastic setting given the isolation and the lack of escape routes. Maybe the coward of the group takes the only escape raft and gets eaten by sharks to enforce that swimming isn't an option. The cast can try fixing the engine or calling for the coast guard as Jason continues picking them off, the premise really has a lot of potential. I'd even have it end on a cliffhanger with a seemingly drowned Jason walking out to shore with Manhattan in the distance, than you can have an actual Jason Takes Manhattan sequel.

    Here's a thought: the boat Jason gets on is a anti-oil drilling protest boat. He kills a few people early on, then a storm hits, and the drillers let the hippies onto the platform since they know if they all drown right next to a stable oil rig it'll be terrible publicity for them. Now it's Jason on an offshore oil rig during a storm. The hippies think the evil oil drillers are killing them off; the drillers think the crazy hippies are killing them off. Eventually the remaining people have to work together to beat Jason. Obviously the big conclusion will have the platform explode.

So he put together his best ideas that would work for a single film. When the movie was more successful than anybody could ever predicted, he revisited those unused ideas and try to make movies revolve around them. With Exorcist I have no idea what they were going at other than the demon who is not mentioned by name in the film is credited as Lamastu on wikipedia and other websites is said to be rival to Pazuzu. So maybe the idea was to do a vomit kamehameha fight with Pazuzu in the sequels.

    It wasn't gonna be set in Manhattan because I believe the director or Lar Park Lincoln wrote a treatment where Tina's taken to a psychiatrist hospital and Jason comes to life and wants revenge. (Like Dream Warriors.) The screenwriter for Jason Takes Manhattan wiped everything clean with the intention that it was gonna be the last one and introduced a protagonist who was directly connected to Jason. But it wasn't for Tina as at that point, she was asking too much money to come back but Paramount simply said no.

    Jason X always struck me for having Lisa Ryder as an android and Lexa Diog as human pilot doing very similar reversed roles as they did in Andromeda Ascendant with Lexa as the ship/android and Lisa the captain pilot role.

    Bit of a missed opportunity not mentioning how the 'nerdy guy in the glasses' in Jason Goes to Hell was John D. LeMay, previously known as the star of Friday the 13th: The Series. Which is not in any way connected to these films, but served as a heavy inspiration for The X-Files.

    The Series is amazing, spinning a "monkey's paw" mcguffin into entertaining stories for several seasons. It is very much a who's who of Canadian talent of the time. I re-watched it during lockdown and IMO it held up well for its kind of pulpy nonsense.

    Jason Goes to Hell was a weird movie because of production troubles. Jason 9 was made because Freddy vs Jason was in development even back then. There was also discussions for a Freddy vs Jason vs Ash (from Army of Darkness). Which is why the Necronomicon is featured. The Paramount and New Line Cinema deal and transfer of rights was a shitshow.

    that isn't at all why the necronomicon and kandarian dagger are in Jason Goes to Hell. They literally say several times in Crystal Lake Memories that the ONLY reason they are in the movie is because he knew Sam Raimi and he thought that they looked cool so, he asked Raimi if he could put them in the movie as easter eggs for Evil Dead fans......Regardless of what that awful comic says, Jason was NEVER going to be a deadite.
