The Freakishly Fast World of Robot Sumo
Спорт
Welcome to the lightning-fast world of robot sumo, where two robots battle it out for mechanical supremacy. But, keep your eyes peeled-robots that take years to build can be decimated within mere seconds. Robot sumo has developed into a furiously competitive sport in Japan, with participants spending years building their autonomous machines. Just ask Takahiro Ito, a robot designer and builder who spends 360 days a year working on his craft. It's a demanding sport that requiring extreme dedication, all for a few seconds of glory.

the one thing they completely glossed over in this video is that there are no remote controls, its all programed into the robot. thats how they can move so fast and precisely.

I filmed a robot sumo last december here in philippines for a client and it was really fun watching youngs kids making robots and making them fight. But this one is insane! It's so quick and fast! Im still in awe until now. Never knew it could be as fast and powerful

Random negative comment about America on a video that isn't even tangentially related to the USA? Why am I not surprised? Robot war culture may not be developed in the USA, but robotics R&D certainly is. How many countries have the equivalent of a Boston Dynamics? Not many.

This is why i love japan
When i first saw this i couldn't believe it. Like how fast it moves with 100% traction and precision. And it ends up being programmed to do specific moves. And is getting its traction from the magnets dragging it to the metal arena. I thought it was remote controlled and i was like "theres no way thats remote controlled. Millimetres from the white line there ain't no way a person could be that precise" so im here watching.
The match lasts as long as my relationship

He is like a real life version of Hero Hamda.
This would be such a cool anime. Like there is some guy that makes robots and then does robot sumo against other people. Maybe sorta like Pokemon or something.
Here in indonesia we called it sumo robot, in 2009 my dad and his students broke new record (we called it rekor muri, just like guinnes but only in indonesia) for the biggest sumo robot competition at that time
Do they go to the replays often? How else can you tell who fell out first?
Sensors to prevent it from exiting the white line, and vacuum to suck it to the floor. Your winner right there. And, a slap arm. It would be funny to sit on the ground, and launch the other robot flying in confusion out of the ring.
i'd like to know more about the technology behind these
Wow! The judges are wearing leg protection. Must be quite powerful small robots!

how to make the robot fast like that?

It's so entertainment :)
What parts did he use tho?
*teleports behind you*
They should make the robots salute each other and then return to position at the start of each fight.
Epic
wonder if it would be possible to build two of them and have them compete in order to improve their algorithm like alphago does
You do realize the application for this: Light Fast Cheap Deadly All you need are groups of these bots working together and you have some serious shit.
Their government is so lucky to have such brains where they can just sit back and observe then steal those ideas and implement them in warfare. Can you imagine a fighter jet with this kind of reflex technology?
@bldjln3158

Airplanes don't have reflexes, sorry to break it to you
I'm so confused 😂 are the battles in real time or fast forwarded?
So now a sub 3 minute video is a GREAT BIG STORY, thanks a lot internet
* *Teleports behind you* *
This feels like the C.A.T.S. game
Lmao on my screen it says 7 seconds ago, though it's probably 3 minutes now that I watched it.
But how do they work? Are they radio controlled or is there a predetermined algorithm? What are the robot requirements? Is there a weight limit? I wish the video was slightly more information dense
Can i borrow one to sweep my floor?
This reminds me of Big Hero 6
*NANI?? OMAE WA MOU SHINDEIRU!!!*
