The FR Skates UFR Antony Pottier in-depth Review

After around 3 weeks of skating the UFR AP, I put the skates on the shop counter and dissected them for you.

    I was provided two extra smaller UFS bolts in a little plastic bag in the box with the UFR AP intuition boot. I’m assuming to use the skate without the soul plate, as a freeskate 👍

    I now have the metal buckles on these. Different coloured parts are hard to come by in the current climate. All the suppliers have 0 options. We did have some White FR1s in the shop a week or two ago but they have already gone.

    I just noticed there are 58 and 60mm Antony Pottier wheels for sale. Could I use these smaller wheels in between the stock 65mm wheels for an anti rocker setup on the stock frame? Im trying to avoid having to buy another frame if I dont have to. Thanks in advance

  • @SJRollerblading

    @SJRollerblading

    3 ай бұрын

    When using an anti rocker set up it's better not to use normal wheels in the middle. You should use Anit rocker wheels which are a very high hardness and don't roll very well. Unfortunately this frame was built for flat set ups so an anti rocker set up may feel strange with this frame. In short there is not m,uch point in putting smaller wheels in the middle as they will be heavy and useless.

    Nice clip dude. Been chasing after these since I love my FRX. I've a separate Valo Carbon boots which I use for aggressive but I think it's high time to change them. I'm one huge question away from purchasing these UFR: What's the shell size difference between the 40 normal boots and (40-41.5) Intuition boots?

    Great review! I have a couple of question about the regular FR liner I was hoping you could help with. You mentioned that the regular FR liner really packs down when it breaks in, so when you sized down in the skate, and the liner broke in, did the liner start to break in to the point where it felt too roomy and loose? Also, being that the top of the liner is super thick and cushy, was it a problem to really tighten the top buckle to get a good supportive performance fit? Thanks.

  • @SJRollerblading

    @SJRollerblading

    2 жыл бұрын

    That can definitely happen with the fr liners.. Which is a reason for me sizing down to the size 8 so my foot is super squashed when I get it brand new but it will stretch yet still fit me in 6 months time. It's crazy how big the liners get considering how they feel brand new... When I first got FR for the first time I was worried about how hard it was to get the buckle tight at the top. I skated for about 5/10 mins and then tightened them again which worked. Otherwise you can cut the cuff along the cut lines provided to make it easier.

    @@SJRollerblading Thanks for your reply. My feet are 24cm long, and I ordered size 37 where the measured foot length is 23.5cm, so I sized down half a size... do you think I sized down enough to end up with a good performance fit after the break in period, or do you think I need to do down further? Also, between the FR1 and the Rollerblade Twisters Edge, which do you think is the more supportive skate, which do you think is better? Cheers.

    Having no shock absorber on the heel of the liner is a deal breaker me. Granted, I could always get seba heel raises or use my FR1 liners, but I will prolly go with the intuition versions now. I'd like to buy the intuition version. My normal size is EU39. Foot length is 24.5. According to the chart I should have 39-40. Do I need to downside to 37-38? Or just pick the right size? Greetings from China.

  • @SJRollerblading

    @SJRollerblading

    2 жыл бұрын

    Just follow the chart in your case. The 39-40 will have the smallest shell size you could fit. I am a size 43 and when I choose the 42/43 it gives me a 42 shell. You will choose 39-40 which will give you the 39 shell. The next shell size down sounds like it’ll be too small for your foot. Enjoy the skates 🙌

    Hi there. Both skates have their positives. They are both just as good as each other. The only thing the shift does better is the actually frame change system. Other than that the skates perform pretty similarly but I'd rather support a company like FR compared to Razors.

    @@Magatti10 you can get the UFR boot only so you can choose your own frames in that case. I would hate to skate urban with the 65mm as well. I use 90mm wheels on my UFR now. I used to skate on the Razor shift with 80mm wheels and that was great too. When it comes to quality of materials then I'd say that they are both on a similar level. Hi there. I think it depends which size you are. If you are a size 38, 39, 40, 42, 45 or 47 then you should be fine due to the sizing of the shells. If your foot is a size 41 then you will have the 42 shell size which may be too wide for you.

    I have a wide foot - I usually have to get my Nike shoes in a 4E width. The wide part of my foot that gets crunched (I’m not sure if others who talk about needing a wide boot are the same or not) is the wide part of the foot above the 2nd wheel - what I think people call “the balls of your feet. Would you say this skate is known for being wider than average in that area?

  • @SJRollerblading

    @@thebossone that’s exactly where I’d be talking about if I say a boot is wide. I have bunions which make my feet wide just after my toes and this skate allows my foot to have some space to breath.
