    One important thing. In the latest UFR model (all black or white) they have changed the material from which the cuff is made. I have the old and the new version, and I can say that there is a definite difference in lateral stiffness. Topsides are no longer such a problem Previously, I rode in USD Sways nad Razors Sl. At this point UFR is my favorite.

    Thank you for this review and debunking the height from soul plate to frame conspiracy lol. I love my UFRs and still skate them even now after just recently buying FM4s. They just work really well. A bit flexier cuff would help though but i'll try the just keep the cuffs loose like OG days lol.

    I bought these a few weeks ago to use as boots for my UFS 125x3 frames for big wheel skating (I still ride it with the soul plate though...) But, it never bothered me how it looks. It still looks cooler than Remz. Them joints is fugly. They do work pretty well for big wheeling.

    Glad you enjoyed the skates overall. I thought you skated great in them. I had mine for 9-10 months as well, I filmed 2 street parts in them and they held up very well. I do agree about the lateral stiffness; I liked it but it could be like 10% less stiff.

    I love my UFRs.. I just went for a 2 week trip and I packed the UFR 90 frame and an aggressive frame. It’s really easy to switch out. If they made an aggressive cuff that could easily be swapped out I would definitely buy it. ..Because as much as I like them.. I still use my 909s as my main aggressive skate.

    Awesome video! I've been so curious about the FRUFRAP for a while now. I've only heard good things. The look has grown on me quite a bit. I also wonder if the white version of these is flexier than the black ones.

  • @richskater

    @richskater

    Жыл бұрын

    What he's showing in the video is the V1, which only comes in black. The V2 comes in both black and white and are both flexier. The easiest way to differentiate between the two black versions is the buckle. I've been on the V1s for over a year, they're definitely stiff and they're definitely tall, but that doesn't make them bad skates, they're just not for everyone, which no skate really is. If you're looking for a boot for pure aggressive, there are better options. While they addressed the cuff in the V2, they still have this tall, disconnected from the frame feeling. If instead you're into multiple styles of skating and are constantly swapping frames, they might be what you're looking for. The stiffer cuff mostly just sucks for aggressive, it can actually be helpful in other styles. Also if you try skating them in multiple ways you kind of get used to the tallness, but you never really get that feeling of the obstacle in your grinds like you might with a different skate.

    I skated the UFR for 2 months. They were crushing my toes because of the narrow point. I had the same pressure point so I decided to take off the sliders. But the reason why I left them was because they were too stiff. I like a little softer boot. Now I'm using a mesmer Dom Bruce with the Them intuition liner and it feels amaaaazing. But they are narrow too specially on the heel.

  • @ravenouspathogen

    Narrow? You musta gotten a smaller size than you needed, FRs are some of the widest built boots you can find, FRs aren't powerslide.

    @@ravenouspathogento be fair they're considered wide, but in terms of aggressive skates they're pretty narrow. I always heard about them being wide so I was surprised when I finally got my hands on the UFRs. I guess in terms of 165mm skates they are one of the wider options? Makes me wonder why there are much wider UFS skates than 165mm skates, there must be some logic to it?

    I skated the UFR for a while and liked it for learning soul tricks. But any groove tricks were really difficult. That cuff is super stiff and tall. I tried swapping cuffs, but the UFR uses a bigger sized bolt than most skates, so I could never get it to work. I ended up switching my UFRs over to a dedicated big wheel setup, as they are still the comfiest and best fitting skates I've ever tried.

    i was considering the new FR UFR AP intuition vs Them 909 with a setup of using aggressive frame/wheel for the park and other frames for casual cruising. can you remove kiser fluid v flat wheel setup easily from the boot without removing wheels? any wheel recommendation? also thinking of compass frames 4x80 setup to swap when just cruising (someone said they were easy to remove from boot). was concerned about being able to do royale but also heard the newer model was more flexible. or do you think i’m fine with them 909 2022 stock and doing the same thing? i’m older doing this more casually as i’m getting back into it and def not as good as you.

    Well, with fluid Vs, it's yes but actually no. What I do is take axle out of middle wheels and give them a bump in direction of the groove and this gives me enough space to access the bolts. And the wheels don't move too far so you can recenter them with your tool pretty easily. Hope this helps despite this comment is 6mo old. Which ones you bought?

    @@batonnikus thanks - that's a good tip/trick. I actually didn't buy yet but am likely going to get the fluid V for the aggressive setup. I was waiting to buy the FR UFR AP skates in white for a while now, but they have not been in stock for a long time. In the mean time, I'm just using a cheap/old pair of K2 Natural Skates at the skate park and K2 Fit 80 ALU skates for exercise. Wanted to replace those skates with a setup from original comment.

    Have both FR 2 (Old version) and Took Seba CJ2 as my main skate for everything (One skate do it all) - CJ2 have bigger / wider Toe box. Stiffness wise it's similar it's what I like in Seba skates, I like stiff supportive boot I can skate them without even lacing lol. I would say that - this stiffness is less forgiving on sloppy grinding and will be hard if tied well. But it's amazing on transitions and power transfer / responsiveness / big wheels. Sound and Comfort is very good.

    I don't know what you're referring to in this review. The UFRs are not THAT supportive, like FR1s, fairly loose everywhere. That heel problem you're referring to, go FR liner instead of Intuition. I say this because my Premiums have a similar issue in the heel regardless of the boot. Only advice - don't go above 90mm wheels on FR boots (FR or UFR) as it's too tall for these boots. I would also switch out the laces to waxed laces.
