We hear over and over again about the shortcomings of the church. There are not enough priests, not enough people in the pews, not enough people excited to be catholic, not enough resources, not enough volunteers… to name but a few.
The church is in need of gamechangers. People willing to step outside their comfort zone, reject the wisdom of the world, and embrace the radical life God is calling them to.
My guest today is Fr. Johnathan Myer, a Catholic priest whose entire ministry embodies what it means to be a gamechanger: embracing radical faith, rejecting what is accepted and standard, and bringing people to know Jesus through profoundly human encounters.
Listen. Reflect. Share.

Fr Myer is such a game changer!! Has fired me up from across the country!! Our Church is so blessed!! Score to have him 🎉
As one of the many people who have had albeit it a brief relationship with Fr. Jonathan Meyer, I can say he touches people. I know members of his family. They are very proud of him and he of them. He is very special. I expect that we will continue to see great things from his ministry as he uses God's gifts for His good. Thank you, Mathew Kelly, for this interview. More of the world will get to know God through Fr. Jonathan!

What a wonderful interview Matthew. This interview had me from the start. A lot of good insights to be had. Those parishes are lucky to have him as a priest. More priests should sit down and enjoy listening for 2 hours to an awesome priest. God bless his ministry. Keep the interviews coming Matthew. Thanks.😀

His parish is ministry for the fifth campus which is online People has been a game changer for me. Really life-changing. I am so grateful for all that he and his parishioners do To show such love for the Catholic Church. What I wouldn’t do to live closer and go to actual mass there! Again, really great interview.

Watching. Long interview. Will watch in pieces. I love the questions. Could use a priest like this young man in my parish. I feel completely lost in my life, and not very joyful. My father used to talk to his priest when he was older like me. I imagined it helped him. I was raised Catholic from 1-12th grade catholic school. Lost my church through a liberal college. And the fact that my mom beat us through our childhood until she unexpectedly died in her late 40s. I am trying to know God, Jesus again in my late 50s. I have health issues and a lot of fear. I lost my brother last year, which has made me question why him? I’m the sick one. Why not me? I’m not living and just waiting for my turn. I have two Grown daughters I stayed home to raise and not needed anymore. I pray all throughout the day for guidance. Maybe priests can consider counseling online. I have lupus and get sick being around people. I don’t go to church because of this.

Well, you're screwed - no doubt about it. And you got a raw deal. But one thing we all have in common during this lifetime is we are all going to eventually die - and that's true for the good (you), the bad (Trump, Oprah, Faucci - take your pick), and the ugly (Marilyn Manson, Trump (again), and my former mother-in-law). And none of us get to take anything when we go. So, enjoy every day you have remaining on God's Green Earth and don't feel guilty or sad for one more second. Do whatever you feel inspired to do and make every sunrise - and sunset - a cause for celebration. Try this method out, and pretty soon there's nothing but you and God, and whatever you want - or don't want - in between. And that's pretty cool, lady. Life's short for us all - get up on that horse, gallop away, and never look back....
Great Interview!! Thank you so very much. God Bless you both.

My heart went out to Father Meyer when he came and had to make these changes. My heart also went out to the parishioners. I could see how everyone was out of their comfort zone. To me what matter that we all come together unite as one continue worshipping God . Mr. Kelly I would like to share with you how your book Life is Messy helped my 11 year old great nephew ( at the time ). Come two in March he lost his father to cancer. He became withdrawn. Became rude to everyone. I received 2 of your books of Life is Messy. I read it. I gave him the other book. He read it. We talked about your book all evening. We share a lot that evening. It really helped him see how life can be messy for all of us. Thank you for sharing. God bless.

Love this priest! Have been listening to his homilies and attended his outdoor Masses throughout the lockdown! So amazing! If we had more priests like Fr. Jonathan, our church would blossom! God continue to bless him and you, also, Matthew! And thank-you for great interview! 👍❤️✝️🙏
He seems to be a good man and a good priest. But he shares a common misperception in the Catholic church regarding women. Although my vast experience with girlfriends, fiance's and wives (yes, plural....) has amounted to little else but financial and emotional loss (including many lost nights of sleep 😅), the battle is not "between God and the woman." It's a battle between God and instant gratification - the one advantage the Devil always has. You can have both God and a woman in your life - including priests (the failure of forced celibacy among Catholic priests is a topic for another day). The problem is when men put the instant gratification regarding women - including the avoidance of loneliness - above the long-term rewards of God. A successful balance of spiritual and physical needs and responsibilities is a difficult one that requires equal commitment from both partners. And it takes hard-won maturity and dedication.
