I once had a history teacher in high school who was just as passionate about the Second World War, he told stories so wonderfully passionate that I can still remember them word for word now in my 30th, and it’s been almost 15 yrs since I saw the man for the last time…

I think my love of the History of Egypt, came from when I was a child and my parents took me to see Cleopatra’s Needle in London. I remember being fascinated with this monument and it’s history and the story of Cleopatra and the Roman influence. From there my interest blossomed and I continued my interest in Egypt today. I probably own more books on Egypt than I do of British history another obsession of mine. I wish I had Professor Fletcher as a teacher when I was young, her passion for history and Egypt is addictive.
Good evening everyone Joanne I love your passion

Even more amazing was that he was in his mother’s spell, and didn’t stop to question why she had a bizarre accent that would come and go without warning. A friend of mine once summed up the movie Alexander as one where the director showed up on the set with a bag full of accents. Everyone got to pick at least one accent from the bag at random. I…couldn’t disagree with him.

She is a great gift. People who know unimaginable lots and can make that available to ordinary souls like ourselves are a precious gift. They help us to connect with the great chain of the past, and our shared humanity across time and culture.
Actually, it is the ancient kingdom of Ta-Seti (the oldest Nile Valey civilization founded around 5900 BC) that sparked the Nubio-Kemetic civilization complex. Therefore, the Nubians influenced the Kemites (Egyptians), not the other way around as many Western historians would like you to believe.

the bias from eurocentrists is nauseating. the culture emerged from the south based on what we all know...so how can Kush 'borrow' a culture they were immersed with from the outset?

This series of foreign invasions started with the Hyksos. Hyksos: 1675 BCE Syrians: 740 BCE Persians: 525 BCE Greeks: 320 BCE Romans: 40 BCE Arabs: 640 AD Turks: 1517 CE This is why the population of Egypt (originally known by its inhabitants as Kemet) looks the way it does now.
Awesome job Dr Fletcher

Interesting the Lower Egyptians resented unification with South….burning the graves of the old kings …very filthy ….but a crystal clear demonstration they felt no affinity with the culture and it’s developments….Conversely, the Kushites engaged in renewal because they felt affinity with the old culture…Ancient Egypt was Black African at its roots and the northern/lower Egyptian people and foreigners didn’t found the culture and had little affinity for the things that sustain Egyptian tourism today…pyramids, hieroglyphics, monuments all founded by the ancient blacks…all the looting and destruction was done repeatedly by the non blacks….very clear from this wonderful video.

Refer to the indigenous ancients as Kemet, not Egypt. There's a difference.
there's an assumption that Kush 'borrowed' from Egypt as opposed to a merger of religious beliefs. If Kush 'borrowed' Egyptian gods wouldn't it be necessary to show they had a wholly different religion BEFORE their interactions with Egypt?

Egypt is in Africa too
It wasn’t about the culture, temples, tombs, etc. Invaders wanted Egypt’s incredible wealth in gold, other precious metals, gemstones, pearls, etc. and it’s abundant grain supplies, to pay and feed their armies of conquest.
No body has been found in a pyramid.
The Foreign Invaders That Brought Down The British Empire- will be much more interesting.

The Sais Traders hired Greek Mercenaries and pledged featly to the Assyrians. Pstamtik I bragged about destroying the Temple of Luxor and city of Thebes. Kushites were the last native Africans along with the Upper Egyptians to fight off foreign rule. The Sais traitors are admired in modern day Alexandria and Cairo while the Kushites and entire 25th Dynasty have been redacted from history by the Arab Republic of Egypt. The reason modern day Egyptians in Cairo and Alexandria identify closer to Greeks and want nothing to do with Africans. They hijacked the history of Africans and hide the story of the Pharnoic Kings their alliance with the Medjay and Kushites and their battle with those in the Delta who historically caused chaos and political instability during the 1st=, 2nd and 3rd intermittent periods.

@@kimberlyperrotis8962 The idea that the genesis of Egyptian civilization was Mediterranean is foolish, this notion contradicts all the basic evidence that was discovered and continued to be found. This wasn’t a Mediterranean culture because the original founders were not from anywhere else but south west of Kemit. What is called upper Egypt. And then spread up towards the Mediterranean and became the basis of world civilization. The first pharaoh Mene came from upper Egypt and the evidences of the first civilization was in the south west of Aswan. Let’s tell the truth. This is a Nile Valley culture totally based around the Nile river, even before Pharaonic civilization there already a well established culture and civilization called Ta-seti.

It's easy to make some small mistakes, when narration is so long. Don't concentrate on it. The most important is a contest, passion and new knowledge professor Fletcher trying to spread among history lovers. And not everything in any history is true and can be discussed.
It’s horrible that they bred and killed animals to make them into mummies for sale, I didn’t know that. I thought they were beloved pets that had died naturally.

I've never really liked Joann Fletcher due to her misrepresentation of most of the things she talks about. Wow talk about Eurocentric nonsense. She speaks of the original Kemetic civilization Kushites Nubians of upper Egypt 😮if it is separate from Mizraim what she calls Egypt. The Nubians weren't invading lower Egypt, they were restoring Black culture that had been taken from them by force when have invaders ever restored a conquered people their original culture. NEVER! THEY INSTEAD FORCE THEIR CULTURE AND RELIGION ON THE PEOPLE THEY CONQUERED! MAKE IT MAKE SENSE🎉

Did you notice when she said the Kushites were 'the natural successors of the 18th dynasty kings'? When she said that I knew exactly what she meant. She was giving them the same praise Egyptologist give Narmer, Mentuhotep and Kamose as being responsible for returning Egypt to glory. Yet, there was no 'black' culture of Egypt. Culture is what made them Egyptian, not race. Yes the Nubians AND the Upper Egyptians did invade Lower Egypt which had a lot more to do with Amun versus Set(Baal-Hadad) than you might realize. Also, there is only so much an Egyptologist can say without getting their credentials pulled. Dr. Fletcher can hardly be considered Eurocentric.
