    2.7 ecoboost and very surprised by how strong and quiet it is every time I get behind the wheel! The reason I got it was big daddy Nathan’s smile when he took the 2.7 to the race track, I thought Nathan has drove everything and loves it, I’m a grandpa with a pretty Red Truck that will fly and looks so good when me and my beautiful lady for the last 37 year go on our weekly date night, we’re kids again in my ole 67 fast back mustang, I call it my pony truck!

    I have a 16 F-150 3.5 Eco, I regularly get 19-20 combined. On the highway I get 22-25 mpg. Over the life of the truck, from 2016 to current day I am getting 18.6. If you cant get the mileage you aren't trying. Keep in mind, I do NOT drive the speed limit. Usually 5 to 10 over. When I tow I get 12-15. I love the best they could come up with as a negative on the 3.5 was the augmented sound. Get over yourselves! I love my 3.5 Eco and would recommend to anyone!! I have had 2 and both were awesome!

    @@timmaw9559 But, will it still be able to do that when it has 200,000 miles on it or will it take a 10,000 dollar trans and engine rebuild. Truth be told? There is a lot to the total truth. Now for those where are rich and can get a new truck every 100,000 miles great, but some of us can't do that. My trucks have to work and earn their keep and some of my employees run the trucks into the ground. If I give them a twin turbo, they are going to have their foot to the floor 90 percent of time and get 10 MPG.

For those who want more: Just tune it up a bit, 450+ hp coyotes no problem at all!

    That's what I've been saying with my 3.5l n/a v6 in my 2016, the power is great compared to the 90's trucks we have at my job and most 90's half tons in general. And I find I never really go above 3000rpm, but I'm also in a regular cab with 6.5" bed so the power to weight ratio is great. I dont think these base v6 options get enough credit for what they do.

    @@finerbiner that's a fair point but really a better gearbox is best in that case. I would look at a 10 speed, 13 speed, or, if they ever get around to it, a non-commercial 18 speed. really depends on what application and what tool to use for the job. outside of that: I would definitely go with a 5.7 v8 tundra before the 5L v8 f150; but it's a matter of price and budget. nissan titan isn't bad, toyota tundra is a step up, f150 is a great option due to high availability, 5.2L and 5.9L ram v8 is pretty substantial but for work related applications: 6.7 f250 or even an f-350 is preferrable just that with the f-350 it's going to hurt the wallet both in diesel and when it's due for an oil change (13 qts of 5w40 is 205 dollars at the dealership!)

    My 3.5L EB doesn't have augmented sound, thankfully. I have no issues with start stop, with the exception of stop signs where it can be too quick to shut down the engine. But, take your foot off the brake and the engine comes back to life before you can get to the gas anyway.

  • @LukasDubeda

    @LukasDubeda

    5 жыл бұрын

    The problem with this is: it doesn't save anything, quite contrary. Real-world testing showed this nonsense consumes more oil, goes more heavy on the engine and in the end you won't save any gas and more importantly, due to higher oil consumption, it doesn't save the environment at all. It's a political bullshit, once again, nothing else.

  • @mikedurham3563

    @mikedurham3563

    5 жыл бұрын

    @@LukasDubeda that's where you're wrong. Motor companies wouldn't make the investment in software and drivetrains if there wasn't a gas mileage or emissions benefit, it makes no economic sense to do so. The savinffs all depend on your drive cycle. A lot of highway driving of course would see near zero benefit, but a standard commute with stop lights will net larger returns. As far as engine damage, that's nonsense from biased/old school 3000 mile oil change people. The engines are modified to retain oil near friction points to prevent wear, which is minimal in a warmed up engine anyway. And there is no physical way for starting your engine to increase oil consumption. The puff of blue smoke from a worn engine is due to the time the oil has had to slip past seals, it is still consuming oil through worn seals during operation, but you just can't see the smoke due to the amount.

I just drove it to Florida from NY and getting off and ON the interstate was easy ! The only problem I’ve had is at 7,000 miles I went to get in it and it was COMPLETELY DEAD , like NO battery was in it . Half hour later I went to jump it and it was fine ! The next day I brought it to the dealer and no codes ! It was like it never happened ! It had to be a computer thing . Other than that one incident , I’m 100% 2.7 !

Try to hold a constant speed and the engine is missing. You can actually watch the fuel consumption gag jumping. So I go to the dealership. We fixed it they say; ambient air sensor in the rearview mirror. I drive home and it happens again. I make another appointment and the dealership gives me a rental. Another 2019 F 150. I head home and it's doing it too. So I get a call two days later "come get the truck" I go to the dealership and they are embarrassed. They said they couldn't fix it and found the problem with others on their lot. I'm told that Ford is trying to fix the problem but nothing so far.I'm told I'm going to have to live with it. I talked to the service manager who tells me to go behind the dealership and see the Rams sitting there. "They belong to the mechanics" I'm told. So I get in touch with Ford who reveal that it's true. They tell me they will get a fix.They call me in two weeks time and say there is a fix and "we mailed the disk to the dealership". Right. Two weeks later and it still hasn't arrived. I call bull s**t and they help me buy a Ram. They arranged the deal and I traded in the F150. Now drive a Ram. Too bad because I loved the Ford but that dead miss (like there's water in the fuel or a bad plug) was too much to take. Maybe they fixed it, I don't know and I don't care anymore. Cost me 4K to up-grade to the Ram but the truck is flawless so far.

My only mechanical issues have been 2 lug nuts that ruptured and wobble in 5th gear that’s happened a couple of times. I did have issues with towing my enclosed trailer (weighs 5k lbs) specifically on the highway when an eighteen wheeler passes I got sucked in but added an Anderson Sway Control Hitch that solved it. I paid $38k for it (MSRP was $53k) with the XLT and heated seat package. My biggest concern is durability out of the engine but I will change the oil every 5K, so time will tell but I love it.

    I just picked up a 2019 Silverado with the 6.2. I simply don't understand how the auto-stop feature is annoying. It is almost seamless and eliminates wasting gas idling at red lights. I don't get it.

    It's the stop and go traffic, congested stop signs, and max A/C shut downs that annoy me but that's why there is a button to turn it off. Plus you can put it in tow/haul or sport mode to deactivate.

    As much as I like the power numbers of both turbo charged V6's I would most certainly choose the V8. Hands down best motor overall. The best balance and is going to be much more reliable and better sounding. Hope Ford continues to offer V8 options. But I can certainly see the attraction to the turbo charged V6's.

    I agree with the sound, but the rest goes to my 2015 3.5. Best truck I've ever had. Never a problem, and it pulls much better than the 5.0. Hauls a camper on a weekly basis (in east TN mountains) and doesn't burn or leak an ounce of oil. Every one I know with am EB loves it.
