Fallen Order is great, but this was such a fun sandbox to play around in, regardless of it being a more linear game. Can't casually stack chairs on a storm trooper for kicks from the start of Fallen Order. Maybe it's just because the dark side of the force is a pathway to many abilities that some consider to be unnatural, but IDK

Honestly my biggest gripe with Fallen Order is the inability to choose which side you could go for Every other Star Wars action game with a lightsaber pretty much allowed you to be light or dark

I will always love this game, non canon or not. It's so much fun to just scatter enemies with a fully charged force push or fry them alive with lightning. I really miss games that just let you go crazy and fuck shit up.

Whilst the new movies are not canon to me neither are the force unleashed games. For one star killer is o.p good for a fun video game but in terms of actual lore context not so much. Same as the warhammer space marine game it isn't necessarily Canon but is so awesome it doesn't need to be it's a parallel to what goes on in the main stream. Titus not being an official captain in lore as is star killer isn't in o.g star wars unless you count that Luke was meant to be named star killer before Skywalker.

The actor used for this and days gone is actually a really talented guy who did a wild American adaptation of a show about a werewolf, vampire, and ghost being roommates. He plays the vampire.

2:02 it should be a law that every game that allows the main character to control things with their mind (the force, biotics, etc) MUST include as many missions with bottomless pits as possible.

Man, remember the halcyon days of Star Wars media that kinda made sense and actually had cool art direction?

the game wasn't canon prior to the buyout either though. It was specifically made to be a non-canon offshoot (otherwise you wouldn't literally kill darth vader, luke, obi wan, han, and chewie.)

@@Sad_Elf No literally, the game wasn't even canon. It was released as a non-canon what-if story. Even Sam Witwer himself has said that it was intended as an alternate version of events. It's just that a lot of sw fans don't have the ability to read context clues and determine "this isn't canon" unless somebody writes "LEGENDS" in bold print on the cover of it.

@@thescruffinator8830No, it was canon to the Legends timeline on release. It was even advertised as the next chapter after ROTS released, bridging the gap between Episode 3 and 4. I remember that distinctively. The DLC isn’t canon since it takes place after the non-canon Dark Side ending. The devs specifically stated they were inspired by the Star Wars Infinities comics for that, which were the “What If?” series before the upcoming Disney one. So The Force Unleashed was canon. Episode 3.5, if you will. It was decanonized along with the rest of the good Star Wars EU material in 2014 so Disney could make their shittier version instead.

8:38 I had completely forgot that she was at all apart of the game.

I remember playing this as a kid Going to the emperor for the finale and essentially saying “yeah no, fuck this, the hallway is taking too long, Vader I’m coming for you” and yeeting myself off of the the platform midway through

It's a shame the PS2 version wasn't put on PC. As that was the original project, it has quite a bit more content. I like it more overall as well. Also no dumb behind-the-back lightsaber grip :P

Even today one of my TOP 10 games ever, advanced physics, great combat system and much better version of Rebels Alliance origin than a canon one. Graphics looks great even as for modern standards when you'll think how old is this one.

You need to play Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy. The graphics aren't great anymore, but the lightsaber and Force gameplay has never been surpassed by any other game.

@@wilhufftarkin8543 I always lved Jedi Academy for the possibility to summon and freeze allies and enemies, replacing own player model with other characters and everything you can do thanks to commands. It was perfect if you wanted to create own scenarios :)

@@wilhufftarkin8543Fucking love Jedi Outcast. In a lot of ways, I consider Jedi Outcast and The Force Unleashed complementary games. Jedi Outcast has the best lightsaber combat, Force Unleashed has the best Force powers. Dream game is still a combination of both, but no game has gone that far yet.

Replaying this game recently has reminded me of two things. 1: QTEs are a sin that should be forgotten FOREVER. 2: The walking animations cutscenes are funny af.

QTEs are badass, this game's are super forgiving in that it's literally impossible to die during one and even if you could it's just button prompts that you follow to get a really well choreographed action scene, some of the coolest moments in my favourite games are QTEs especially in the Yakuza games.

I thought the QTEs were fine in this game. You still have to beat everyone legitimately and QTEs only come in when they’re near death. It’s like those finishing animations in Jedi Fallen Order and Survivor, just with some button prompts you press.

The “absconding with a novelty lightsaber” bit might be one of the best things I’ve ever seen

I think he's still on the Star Wars payroll, he played Darth Maul in the Solo end credits scene and if I'm right he plays Palpatine in most shows and Lego adaptations. He's so damn good, been playing Days Gone and I absolutely adore how angry he sounds, every kill in a marauder camp has him saying shit like "yeah that's what you fucking get you dirty animal" in the most pissed off sadistic voice and I love every second of it.

I had the DS version growing up. It controlled weird, using the touchpad for all combat moves, and the D-Pad and buttons for movement. I didn't know the proper way to input combos (Dragging the stylus over the buttons, as opposed to quickly tapping them) until after I was halfway through my second playthrough, so before that all my combo moves had about a 3/4 chance of failure. It was decent, but a good ways below a great game, like the Lego games or Zeldas

The original version of the force unleashed is WAAAAAAAY better than the ps3 version

You could put this into the canon timeline as sort of a prequel to rogue one

I feel the same fallen order is good but it just doesn't make you feel like having unlimited power

Gotta love Oboe noticing how Shaak Ti dies three times (the 2nd one was to Anakin in the temple with reused footage of her stabbing by Grievous, and was left in the Lego game).

I remember renting this game back in November of 2008. I was visiting my dad for Thanksgiving, and we immediately went to Hastings to buy the new Call of Duty (World at War), but I also decided to rent this when I saw it available. Great memories of being able to play both games in a couple of days before taking Force Unleashed back. I would later buy the game sometime after Christmas and replay it. We truly had a great golden age of gaming back then.

Easily one of the scariest things from my childhood, I was wanted to off Vader, and got a I Have No Mouth Star Wars edition scene 🤣

Vader saying ' *I lied* :) ' just filled up my heart with some sort of feeling

The force unleashed was amazing so sad that it was also leashed in the Cannon universe

love how the officer attempts to suck up to lord vader at 1:22 after his failure and ends up getting slice n diced

reliving the pain of that final boss fight is hilarious.

100% there are differences, there are even different bosses and stuff. Idk which versions have which but on the wii I remember fighting some gungan as a boss in cloud city I think, and then a big robot at the end of the cloud city section and neither of those were in the Xbox version when I replayed it recently

The PS2 version was made first and had alot more content, like more levels and lightsaber customization...the best part is that the QTE with the Star Destroyer was a cutscene instead

I had the PSP version of this game back in the day, some of my fondest gaming memories and I wasn’t even a big Star Wars fan

I forgot just how fun of a game this was. They let you do anything for the sake of fun.
