I missed this group in the 80s because they weren't big here in their home country. They were never on the radio in the UK.

Yes! Brilliant, mercurial lyricism here. It's like its born from a place of deep maritime wisdom (but what do I know?)

I agree ! Hard driven for real !!
All the songs from this band are beyond awesome! This is one of my favorite bands EVER!
I was fortunate enough to have been a fan since the 80s. They have a lyrical depth and musical texture that was rare in their time, and nearly non-existent today.

So true, one of my all time favorite bands.....saw them again just this summer and they still sound great! You should see them if you get a chance...you won't be disappointed...Cy is one of the most underrated vocalist out there.......I think he has the best live voice that I ever heard...IMHO
One of my favorite albums since I was a kid 10-23
The Fixx. ..One of the 80s fresh & greatest pop bands "Liner" "Red skies" Secret separation" "driven out'"......such a great and beautiful songs.
It's such a shame that this album did not go platinum that how good it is all of you have such great taste in music

Loved that album
Phenomenal album!
I love this song. Got to hear them play it live on Santa Cruz Beach and Boardwalk, which has Free Friday Concert Nights all summer long. So fun to hear them play under the stars with the pounding surf nearby.
My fave track on the whole album... Sounds like a square trying to be circle! R.I.P. Rupert Hine

Good description.
I used to have a cassette tape of this album in the 80s . Now I have the CD version and love to crank it up in my car
My little girl loves this cool song so much, so do I! I think she's got a good sense of music because of her choice.

Brilliant and very cool! Exceptional album!!
Greatest song of all time from The Fixx!! Cy is a genius!
Falkland Island anthem ... great song, better album, fantastic band.
So I sailed away on their time, Liner! Taking young lives in their prime, Liner!

Wow! Thanks for uploading! I've been waiting for ages for someone to post this song!
I never got into this band until about 2007. I have heard of many of their songs back in the 1980's but i never got into them until recently..I am 43 btw

I'm a couple years older than you and dug them in the 80's but never really had any of their albums back then. Fast forward to the 2000's and decided to check them out again and am mad at myself for waiting so long! Have seen them five times since '14 and they are an amazing live show. Go see them if you have a chance. They will not disappoint you, plus you will be able to see them in a small venue.
Groundbreaking, WAY ahead of their time. Standard instruments, and not ONE " Traditional " riff , no Blues or " Rock Vocab '
So many great bands in the 80s .The Fixx , The Cure , Depeche Mode , OMD . Reach The Beach is one of my all time fav albums
Liner... was a fantasy sea cruise
Awesome album

compact price point for all of you dopes who can't recognize a piece of art even when it slaps you in the face!
This song is sick! If u have an imagination it'll take u on an exploration🎶musically. On a ship sailing the world going fast to beat the storm standing tall aboard its mast arms stretched forward...at least thats what i see...
I'm trying so hard to transpose this bassline... It's so hard for me to hear what he's playing!

You mean transcribe? Possibly it's the fact that the first note, when combined with the guitar, forms a minor 3rd. The rest ain't so hard. (edit: Why did I 1st type, "major?")
Was this song initially banned on UK radio due to some controversy (The Falklands crisis?)?
@ajs41

I'd be surprised if it was. But The Fixx were never on the radio in the UK. That's why I never listened to them until just now.

@@ajs41 IDK, I just remember them from MTV here in the US, in a time concurrent w/ that conflict ("One Thing", "Stand Or Fall", "Red Skies" were crapped out onto cable TV here in the USA all at once, as I recall). The OP raises an interesting possibility.

@@DrMackSplackem MTV wasn't available in the UK until the 1990s. We had to watch videos on Top of the Pops or the Channel 4 Chart Show.

@@ajs41 Really? This is totally fascinating to my American ass. I suppose life really did begin at the hop, for some of us. And to think I never got to hear Kate Bush's music until 1991...
