The FIVE Steps To Winter FAT BIKING! | A Guide To The Most UNIQUE Cycling EXPERIENCE in Northern WI

Спорт

What's it take to enjoy one of the most unique cycling experiences you can have in the winter? I'm glad you asked...
Obviously there are many different ways to enjoy riding your bike in the winter. For me that means fat biking on groomed mountain bike trails. Unfortunately around these parts I only get to go fat biking a few months out of the year. So in order to make the most of every opportunity to ride on the snow I like to enjoy the FULL experience which means following these five steps.
#fatbike #mtb #cycling
If you are in the area I highly recommend staying at the Sportsman's Motel & Resort. It is literally a two minute drive to the ‪@winmantrails‬ and it is such a clean, comfortable, and stylish place to stay.

    No mention of pogies. One of the best cold weather bits of kit you can find. I ride with thin wool gloves under mine, much better experience than thick winter gloves.

    If you aren’t aware of the existence of Neos (New England over shoes, you should be! You can wear your slippers, sneakers, or boots beneath these overshoes and never get wet or cold. Also 100% waterproof and ultra-lightweight. Absolute game changer for simple day-to-day doings with snow, and there is no end to the usefulness, including fat bikes.

    Nice area out there! I used to live just north of Winchester, in Wakefield, MI. Bummer I didn't have a fat bike then though. Otherwise, I would have been on the trails a LOT! One of these times, I want to get back there and ride trails there in winter. I think it would be a lot of fun compared to the far and few trails and commuting I do now where I currently live.

    Great video, well done. My fat winter fat biking is 10 miles to work every morning and then 10 miles home each night on county and back roads in central Wisconsin. Other highly recommended gear is a balaclava and a snow boarding helmet and I'm good to minus 20 F.

    I am totally in love with winter biking! Great video. Nice drone footage. So did it hit the tree? That is what I want to know. LOL! It was -40 C (at it's lowest, which is also -40F) last weekend and gust up to 80km/h (or even more I think) where I live. I decided to swap my studded tire to non studded during that time and do some bike work. Took some time to get the trails back to 'normal' after the wind. Cheers from Canada.

  • @TheDustyDutchman

  • @TheDustyDutchman

    @TheDustyDutchman

    3.8 inches or larger. More important is the tread pattern and air pressure in the tire. Check out 45nrth, they explain what each tire does the best. They have some good videos too

    i mean if you have got the means to buy all that stuff and all these corks and features aight but ok we are not all living in USA we not necessarly need to buy a moutain of stuff to do stuff. I ride a normal MTB in the snow and you can do a lot already. Yeah maybe it is better with a fatbike but people dont ncessarly have the space nor the means for all that. on the video you ride on packed snow it doesnt make much sense to me, where is the adventure if so. but i agree riding in group is better for sure it is all what matter. this overflo of stuff requirement i mean is it necessary. people are intelligent, they know that in snow you need cover. i was living in the alps and the only people in snow with technical gears are tourists. most people form the moutain where in jeans from first of january to 31th of december and one old jacket, if ever. for sure they are so limits and you need cover if you are outside at night in winter over 12'000 feet but nothing crazy either but who goes out at night over 12'000 feet. i had a collegue at workd he would ride to work on a little scooter. with just a track jacket by -15° C. no technical gear nothing. he was riding down to the village from the moutain on icy road. he just did not care. people from the mountain dont care much about all that stuff. go in the forest, dont be stupid for sure but you will be fine with normal afordable winter clothes. a cheap ski suit will beat most cases.
