The Five Fingers-Hayortik

Музыка

THE FIVE FINGERS (1965-1976) were one of the very first bands in LEBANON who came up with the "genre" of music called "CONTINENTAL" music...With the Popularity of THE BEATLES and all the other Pop bands in the world, most kids were playing Rock & PoP songs mostly in English, where THE FIVE FINGERS on the contrary to the norm started playing many genres(from Pop to Brazilian music to Latin music to Armenian music to British music)...But in the beginning years they were known to many as a band playing (FRENCH MELODIC LOVE SONGS).

Well, Paul Baghdadlian neither wrote nor was he the first to record this song. This song was written by Enrico Macias in collaboration with Jacques Demarny and Pascal-René Blanc. The original French recording called "Le grain de blé" was released in 1966. Some ten years later, an Armenian version of this song titled "Hayortik" (with a new set of lyrics) was recorded and released by an Armenian band (based in Lebanon) called The Five Fingers. Paul Baghdadlian's version which came a little later proved very popular among the Armenians of the Middle East, but it was not exactly his song (for those who might've thought he owned it).

Thanks for the behind the song explanation'..... Yet' Hayortik' with it's Armenian words and it's message within is unique' specially for then teenagers like myself' in our Armenian/Lebanese traditional upbringing and influence ' also 'as teenage students we were not that fluent in french then' :-) ' After you mentioned ' I did listen Enrico's song too' indeed a very nice one' as most of Enrico's songs are . . . . . .

How come did most of the western-style bands in Lebanon seem to have mostly Armenian musicians?

Paul is famous to copy songs from anywhere possible, Greek, Turkish...This melody is Macias and Lyrics are pure Five Fingers.

harisongs, what you wrote is correct...however lets give credit where credit is due....The Five Fingers "Wrote" the Armenian Lyrics that you hear on this song & The Five Fingers made this song popular....plus like you wrote Paul Baghdadlian "copied" this song only...he had nothing to do with creating any part of it.
