Arevatsag / Արևածագ - Arevatsag / The Sunrise. (1993) Full Album.

Very interesting, original and peculiar sample of Soviet Rock music, this time from Armenia. And not just Classic Rock, but Folk Rock! As everybody knows, Rock music in Soviet Union was forbidden or at least was not welcomed. And many Rock musicians were forced to veil their creative activities in some different ways. The members of the band “Arevatsag” decided to perform Rock music wrapped in the clothes of National, Armenian, Folk music. This was done due to increase the interest of young generation towards Armenian national music, to perform veiled Rock music freely and to avoid governmental censorship. The band was active from 1977 to 1996 and in 1993 band recorded it`s album with the most popular performed songs of 70-s and 80-s. The band band performed great, melodic and inspiring Folk Rock, based on old national Armenian songs. Unfortunately there is not so much information about this band, but it is known that name of the band leader and singer is Hrach Mirzakhaninan.

Thanks for the upload. Today is Hrach Hopar’s birthday. I loved Hakop hopar. I remember back home in Armenia I used to do Bruce Lee impressions and he would always crack up ….. I used to say jokes at 6or 7 years old before their concerts and blow off a little steam before they started to Rock on …..good times …..

Greetings from Australia! I love the Arevatsag album released in 1993. I bought the CD when it was first released and have often enjoyed listening to it. My favourite tracks are "Qani vur janim" and "Vai gidi blbulès". Tasteful arrangements and brilliant performance. Is this the only album they ever released? I have often wondered whether there's another Sunrise Band album that I might have missed.

I was good friends with Hrach's son Harut back in the day when we were kids. This album was, and is, absolute FIRE. Progressive Rock Armenian style. I've been looking everywhere for the MP3's.
