I still have my pair of the net tan Air Yeezy 1 that I bought 10 years ago. It’s tough now since they’re prone to cracking and crumbling. Mine are worn in already but still maintained it’s shape well. I plan on keeping mine and would consider restoring them as needed

Yeah weird that he didn't mention it, like he didn't want ppl to know that it's possible to fix and wear them cause he didn't want ppl thinking that he didn't want air yeezys..

I remember queuing for this pair back then and actually winning the raffle... Time flies!

Same, I actually still have mine and only recently stopped wearing them. Got them on release day and only recently stopped wearing them for fear of cracking.

These are at the point where its incredibly more worth it to buy a replica or fake pair if you want them to rock them, you can't wear these anymore, they will crumble, even "worn" pairs are on their last legs.

Just swap the sole for a new one.. Ppl wear these with swapped soles all the time with no problems, Crazy how Seth doesn't know about sole swapping on old sneakers

My favorite colorway is the net/net but still, Yeezy 1’s are grails for me, along with Mags. You forgot to mention that the shape of the shoe looked from the back is supposed to resemble a Y too

It absolutely does damage the value, StockX will not accept your shoes if there is any evidence of having ever been worn.

I have the same hang-up on these. Sure they’re an amazing shelf piece, but I like to wear my pairs, and have no way to justify having a pair that would be falling apart for those prices 🥲

Why not try it on and if it crumbles get a sole swap???

@@kv9574 well it's more of a midsole swap. The air yeezy 1 uses the air jordan 3 midsole. There are plenty of shoes that use the air Jordan 3 sole you can buy for cheap on Ebay

i agree, it's just from a different time where these type of colors where the thing. Nobody heard of earthy tones and minimalism in hiphop/streetwear back then.

Mango has a pair of reps you can actually wear. They are the closest I've seen to the real thing, NO ONE will know the difference but you. I have a real pair and I rock a rep pair, and they feel the same, but one I don't care if something spills on. Quick wipe down with some shoe cleaner, back to wearable.

Unless you’re a lil strap with cash I would say just wear the shoe. If it crumbles then so be it. There are a lot of people that are good at restoring shoes.

If they’re DS, they’ll more than likely crumble. Find a used pair that’s been worn well, less likely to crumble if the midsole is compressed.

Let the out sole sit in hot or warm water for 1 hour and it won't crack

Seth I don't know how you feel about the replica sneaker world, but getting a rep pair to use as a midsole and outsole replacement is an option. I've seen a couple of people do it on older sneakers to keep them in a wearable state. Only problem is, when buying reps, you are indulging in counterfeit products..

Good idea, or even use an AJ3 midsole as a replacement, the sole rubber shouldn’t have perished like the PU midsole so could be swapped to fit 👍

I think the word iconic is thrown around a little too often these days, noone outside of the sneaker game knows or recognize these because noones ever seen them. You first gotta be famous to be iconic

Word. Thats why the panda dunk lows, regardless of quality, shouldve been on the 2021 top 10 lists last year. Pandas became a staple and deserve more props. Too basic black and white shoe they say? Uhmm Af1 triple whites got love tho?

Nike really dropped the ball letting Kanye go. They could have had a modern Jordan brand. Most of their releases are old silhouettes with little more than a colour change. Their collabs are good sometimes but they're running out of ideas fast.

Facts. All I see are Jordans 1-14 being retro’d in every way. It’s no wonder they have to limit the stock, because when you show people the same shit over and over, you really gotta make sure there’s some way they don’t get sick of it. Anytime Nike tries to unveil a new shoe, everyone wants just the retros, which is how you know they’re running out of ideas. I don’t like yeezy’s a ton, but I gotta respect kanye for revolutionizing the game and having a vision in all of his products. In all honesty, Kanye could’ve been bigger than Jordan because there’s no limits to the yeezy image. Jordans are usually limited to 1-14 because that’s mainly what Jordan wore to play in. But Kanye’s career isn’t defined by a limited 14 year span of when he was the most successful. He also doesn’t have to cater to a specific purpose (athletic sports shoes) that would limit his creativity. His brand image has a potential of somewhere between an LV/Gucci and New Balance, and that casual/mid-luxury line is what Nike is really missing.
