The First Responder Mindset: The Life You Save May be Your Own | Sean Gibbons | TEDxOshkosh
Can you survive long enough to survive? There's a gap of time between when an emergency first occurs and the arrival of experts to save you. This talk explores the world of emergency response and steps you can take today to maximize your survivability in any emergency.
Sean Gibbons lives as an active participant in life. Born near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he has lived on the coast of California, by the Gulf of Mexico, in the Mile High City, and numerous places in between. Today, Sean and his wife live in Appleton, Wisconsin with their cat and Great Dane, where he strives for success based upon self-reliance and generosity.
He spends a great deal of his time learning and applying lessons about what it means to be self-reliant, successful, and fulfilled by working diligently to improve his relationships, physical aptitude, and spiritual fitness. Sean draws on his experiences and studies to pursue spirited conversations about the challenges that affect our lives in order to discuss how we are actively participating in life together. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Powerful message and well articulated.....Congratulations and well done, Sean!!!
As an EMT this is amazing advice. Especially in this time of the pandemic, first responders are stretched thin. Far to thin. Sometimes it may take up to 20/30 minutes for us to get on scene. Save yourself until you can be saved.

Hi hope everyone is well. I’m in a war of words with my Facebook friends about your video! I totally agree with you in everything you said so I passed it on on my Facebook page. I’m a NYC MTA bus driver and im a essential worker and I move New York City. But I’ve come to certain big companies like cosco, McDonald’s where they post only 1st responders are allow to come in 1st or they get free food. Yet I’m out there moving the public around and gotten into situations where I had to be a 1st responder. Yet, people tell me I am not one of those. So I decided to share your video and people of course my friends think I’m silly and do not know any better. Oh and you have no idea what you’re saying. Sorry, but I believe what you say is true. Thank you!! For your video.
VERY well said!! more people need to understand this concept
Great job Sean. I liked that you opened many minds. Remember folks, practice makes permanent.
Nice Job, Sean!
Great message!
Very well spoken, inspires
Great talk Sean!
Awesome
God Bless the brave men and women who stand between the wolves at all of our doors and our demise . They are overworked, under paid and not appropriated enough for the job they do for safety and for our peace of minds . More pay . Better working conditions . Lots of love. That's how we close the divide and the misunderstanding. God Bless Much Love ©®
