The First Heretic - Corax vs Lorgar || Voice Over

Ойын-сауық

Two more Primarchs I am yet to really cover, and two fascinating Primarchs who I wish to cover further in the future!
I am very excited for the as of yet unwritten future of these two and so I wished to get ready for that eventuality!

He's a cool character but honestly I don't think any Primarchs other than Lorgar and Alpharius were less dangerous duelists. His fight against Lorgar was effectively a trained spec-ops soldier failing to kill a priest who had hardly ever thrown a punch, and that was with a jetpack helping him out. If he'd stuck around to fight Curze, he'd have been dead in minutes.

Priest or not, Lorgar is still a Primarch and thus is a superhuman combatant. Sure, he's (comparatively) weaker than his brothers, but one punch from him would kill even an Astartes.

@@maltheri9833 Corax survived Istvaan V because he was smart and pragmatic, not because he was a good duelist. My whole point was that he in fact did not body Lorgar; Lorgar would not have lasted even a minute against any of the genuinely good duelist Primarchs.

Thank you for your dedication and passion for us to hear. However, I feel that the narration lacked some level of oomf for a fight in a fast paced battlefield

Only insofar as their themes of justice and the whole “night” theme. They fought differently, and had wildly different personalities. Corax always cared about his sons, but the Night Haunter could scarcely care less about his, aside from perhaps Sevetar. The Night Lords often ended up as victims to their Primarch. Corax went insane trying to bring his sons back. It is easy to like Corax though. I mean, the guy freed a moon of slaves being beaten daily, and then promptly turned over the planet to them to rule.

That is sadly a lore misconception. Lorgar has never, and likely never will fear Corax anymore. The Only bit of fear was likely on the battle. The reason Lorgar doesn't do much is because he doesn't feel like it. Lorgar never liked war, and never will. He has been reading books, chatting with friends, writing new books, learning new cultures, all that. When you get the actual lore Corvus sounds... A lot less cool.

Things wouldn’t play out so perfectly in the Raven Lord’s favour next time - of that, Lorgar was sure. - Betrayer Lorgar is a hypocrite, this is a core part of his character. He absolutely wanted to take revenge on Corax, so losing even harder after selling his soul to chaos gods and committing countless atrocities, while Corax just unlocked the powers their father gave them at the the start, that stings unbearably bad.

Corax could've had Lorgar here easily. All he had to do is go immediately for the kill the second he had Lorgar on the ground, instead of wasting time to mutilate his face. Corax toyed with his prey at a crucial moment and it cost him the victory.

Under normal circumstances he would have. But his opponent was essentially the root cause of all the pain and misery he and his brothers endured. To say emotions were high is an understatement. In that moment he sought not victory but vengeance - slow and crippling retribution. That and GW probably didn't want to kill Lorgar off so early. Without this choice however, we would never have never gotten the storm of umbral wrath that corax has become.

@banneduser5187 in a 1v1, corax might best him but by this point there was no chance. Corax had been fighting potentially for hours, one of his gauntlets was shattered and his armour damaged, likely sustaining wounds beneath it. It wasn't a fight he was going to win

@@banneduser5187funny you say that. It’s hard to take primarch opinions as fact. But in the raven guard novel that picks up after this scene, corax talks about fleeing. He does so as he’s wounded and lost a claw, while kurze is fresh and has two claws. He muses that he could probably take the night haunter (his opinion) but I’d back his chances. Later in the same book he fears Angron knowing if they fight he’ll lose as his brother is just too brutal and strong for him to endure. Kind of backs up the theory that their aren’t primarch tiers and that they act more counters to each other based on their individual qualities and abilities.
